NFS games used to really beautiful and creative tracks. I used to love just cruising around on the great variety of maps and taking in all the breathtaking scenery. Every map was so unique.

But since Underground, the only tracks you get are the same repetitive urban city tracks over and over again. No imagination whatsoever. Not to mention all the tacky bling bling, cartoonish graphics and handling.

The last decent NFS game was Hot Pursuit 2. But since Underground, EA seems content trying to grab that hip-hop urban youth market. So all the 12-year old gangsta wannabes out there will probably love this game.

This game has a serious lack of imagination, with much less content than any of the previous BF gsames.

For one, I want to know why the hell do the weapons and equipment in the year 2142 work exactly the same way as they do in the present!!??

Man, this game is total crap!

while playing the stupid game is constantly switching you between the US and the MEC team. WTF??

And dont tell me the goal is team balancing because I notice the teams are rarely uneven enough to justify this stupid annoyance.

What the thell is the point of the game if your constantly and randomly switching between teams (against your will) during a game?? It is especially annoying when your trying to play on the same team with your buddies.

It totally defeats the purpose of teamwork and strategy.

I'm looking forward to playing the full game.

I played the demo on hardest difficulty, which wasn't very hard at all. Though I'm sure the difficulty will get much tougher as you advance, just like it did in the original CoD, where several levels became impossible to complete without going through a dozen or more replays.

I don't mind the difficulty, but hopefully things won't be so scripted this time. For example, it would be nice to have enemies spawn in a different/random location on your next replay/reload, or at least have an option to play the game that way. It would go a long way towards getting away from the heavily scripted/deja vu feel of the original.

The demo ran smoothly for me on the highest settings with all effects turned on (athlon64 3200, radeon x800xl, 1gb ram). Graphics look stunning as well.

By those 64-bit screenshots.

They look average at best for a PC game. Any number of 32-bit PC titles are far better-looking, including Doom 3,Half-Life 2, BF2, FEAR, Far Cry (32-bit), etc.

LOL, looks like all they did to get those '32-bit screenshots' was turn down the brightness. Actually, its painfully obvious.

Never understood what the fuss was about with those games.

I remember thinking how much I thought those games sucked, after trying out the demos when they came out. I was disappointed to say the least.

The weapons and vehicles felt toy-like and pathetically weak. The movement was slow as molasses and nauseating. Tribes felt like playing a toy game in slow motion. After 3 or 4 hours messing around with the demos, it turned out to be an intensely dull experience to me.

The game had nothing on Quake 1/2, or any of the more modern Battlefield games for that matter. Tribes was missing what made Quake 1/2 so great, the solid movement and feel, powerful feel of the weapons, great pacing, etc.

The only thing I thought Tribes had going for it at the time was the innovation of controllable vehicles, though even that feature was poorly implemented.

The little known early predecessor of the Battlefield games, Codename Eagle for the PC (also an EA title AHHHH), for my money was a much better example of the combat/vehicles/multiplayer genre that was emerging from that period.

Has Valve said anything about an expansion pack yet?

PS: In terms of gameplay, the Call of Duty games ship with a SP game that is just as good as HL2. While the CoD MP component is vastly superior to HL2's.

Whats wrong with you people?

This game rocks the house! I agree about the camera and conrols. They feel awkward at first. However, after playing through a few levels they began to feel totally natural to me.

Personally, I like a game that has a significant learning curve. It's a rewarding feeling after you've finally mastered it. The full game will be even more challenging to master because of the new moves. Typical shooters which take 2 seconds to learn to play offer no challenge, and which is why they are boring as hell to play.

Well I guess thats what the masses demand. Give them simple, mindless dumb-downed crap like Doom 3, Far Cry, UTK4, and they're happy than pigs in sh*t. You don't want interesting games that actually make you think and use your head. For they are too taxing on the tiny brain cells of the average stupid gamer. Hahahaha.

Did I mention the many awesome cut scenes and backstory included in the demo on top of al the other cool stuff? Man, this game is too damn good for mere mortals.

Damn if it isn't the best-looking game I've ever seen. It almost makes Doom 3 and Far Cry look outdated.

Man, you guys don't know what you're missing IMHO.

This demo totally rocks. To my surprise, it has much more than boobies going for it! It would be a mistake to dismiss BloodRayne 2 as just another Tomb Raider knock-off.

First of all, the graphics in the demo are simply stunning. The screenshots don't do it justice at all. Bloodrayne 2 blows away any game to date in sheer visual style, beauty, and level design. This game is simply a work of art and a joy to look at.

The game includes an advanced physics system, not only ragdoll physics for the models, but a complete physics system for every object in the game world. everything in is destructible: furniture, glass, statues, wood, books, you name it. If you can see it, you can destroy it, and the game is chockful of beautifully rendered objects for you to mess with.

The levels in the demo remind me of the Office level in CS:Source, in terms of the incredible amount of detail and physics going on.

The controls take some time getting used to, but once you make the effort, you wlll be richly rewarded. They become second nature after a while, though the learning curve might be a bit steep initially.

There's a complete fighting and acrobatics system, as well as a selection of firing wapons and some nifty melee weapons. You earn new combo moves and weapons by defeating bosses and various objectives. according to the preview, there are dozens more combo moves, enemy types and weapons in the full game.

This game is a much needed breath of fresh air from the usual run-of-the-mill, run and gun Doom 3-type shooter that have been saturating the market of late.

There's something much more satisfying and visceral about taking out the enemies by pulling off a cool combo move or hacking off his/her libbs with a blade, instead of simply mowing them down with a machine gun ala Doom 3 (boring). This game is truly a work of art and beautiful to look at. The level of interactivity here is comparable to HL2 and CS:Source.

If an action game with jaw-dropping graphics, innovation, awesome physics, a rich combat and acrobatics system and more sounds interesting to you, than give this game a chance!

This demo freaking rocks!

This demo is terrible, as I expected it would be ever since I saw the screenhots long ago.

Deus Ex is like the video game version of the Matrix movies.
I never understood the appeal of either one.

Graphics, sound, controls, physics, gameplay, all crap.
You can't even land or take off manually. The computer does it all for you.

Anyone try the Pacific Warrriors 2 demo?

Valve has become a very wealthy and successful company by distributing HL 1 and CS the CONVENTIONAL way. No doubt HL2 would be incredibly profitable if it were distributed strictly by traditional means. And without the side effect of pissing most of your customer base to no end. It could have been a win-win situation for customer and company as it always has been.

But that ain't good enough for Valve anymore. Now they want to try to squeeze their customers through monthly fees. Bunch of greedy fucks. Valve wants to gamble away a sure thing and piss everyone one off. I hope they lose their collective shirts.
