I don't think you really have a leg to stand on to feel bitter about them not doing an entire overhaul of HL1.

Not sure if this was directed at me or not. But I absolutely understand why. I work many late nights myself and I couldn't see myself doing it for such worthless stuff.

" Not sure what the compressed size will be, but I'll try Raring and ziping it up later tonight to see the size differences."

If you got time, let us know the results. Would be interested in finding out.

"lks here had pretty firm opinions about not changing the content in HL1." "

Yep. In other words they couldn't be bothered. After so many late nights, why work more for this old stuff?

"Don't all of the American players have a Walmart close by? 24 hours? I assume our Euro friends have something similiar. (if not...good lord, I am going to move to Euro and open a Bat-Mart 24 hour super store)."

You can't in Germany. The law prevents it. Sad but true...

"If they can figure a way to increase performance without cutting graphics features they'd have my attention for sure."

Thats what ps2.0 is for - purely performance while ps3 adds new graphical features.

Got to agree with Joe. Look at Americas Army, a "game" fully funded by the army (read government). To me that's just sinister. Motives? Obviously recruitment.

"America's Army Government Applications office was quietly opened in January in Cary, North Carolina, with a team of 15 video-game creators, simulation specialists and ex-Army personnel. Many of the studio's employees come from local video-game companies like Interactive Magic, Timeline, Vertis, SouthPeak Interactive, Vicious Cycle Software and Red Storm Entertainment."

Wow, another copy of the infamous quote/date list, originality seems to be peoples thing.

Well you have to admit, it is a pretty rediculous list of quotes.

But Blizzard has ripped off Games Workshop for years. So what's the issue?

"They certainly have a right to profit from their work but you can do it without making yourself look like a money grubbing boiler room operation."

I see what you mean but maybe they got raped on their first deal and are looking to get some back? If VU contractually forced them to make the Steam sale price the same as retail then how can you win? They wont get the huge sales they intended if that were the case. This way they can stick it to VU and get at least the hard core CS fans to buy in early. It's a very smart move if you ask me.

"94% for doom3? I think that's a situation where the game is not worthy of the score. In other words, the low 70's would have been more accurate in terms of gameplay.
"

Yeah it can be misinterpreted easily. What I mean was the figure was too high and therefore not worthy... if that makes sense.

"Just in case anyone is interested PC Gamer in the UK has reviewed HL2 and given it a 96%."

THat doesn't mean anything. They also gave Doom 3 94% if I recall correctly. A figure not worthy of the game.

"Doom 3 was never delayed. From when it was announced until shortly before it went gold the release date was always "when it's done"."

Yeah and with the recent patch problems that statement still stands. When it's done
