Screenshot link is wrong (or they moved it). Working link at least for me is here...

Also says frame rate is approx. 9-11 FPS. "circa 9/11 FPS"

But...

"Before you get your hopes up, we should probably break it to you that while it is nicely gory, you can’t exactly use the Chainsaw Controller for GameCube to play Resident Evil 4 all Texas Chainsaw Massacre-style. Nah, despite what it looks like, it’s basically just a regular GameCube controller (in fact, it’s got all the same buttons you’ll find on a standard GameCube controller). That means no running around your living room, slashing away with this thing as you virtually decapitate zombies and such, though it does have a built-in speaker for delivering that rusty chainsaw sound."

"Sorry Cutedge, you're right, I was thinking of something else. It was ATI's 3DMark 2005 drivers that they labeled as the KotOR drivers. The point still stands however that they're having a difficult time being straightforward with this stuff."

Why does the point still stand?

"decent ally and enemy squad ai, i"

From the reviews I have seen so far this is the number one complaint... frequently getting in the players way.

"Now don't get me wrong, I'm no fan of Germany BUT it did take the rest of the Western World plus Russia to stop them. What was America's excuse in Vietnam? And it's not like Iraq is over yet."

Another thing is that if these companies were forced to pay overtime, I can promise you organisation would be much, much better. Not paying overtime is the perfect partner for bad management and organisation.

"No, the question was also about unnecessary crunch times. It wasn't just that they should be paid, but they should be allowed to see their families."

I'm guessing you didn't reead my message clearly. I said "The question isn't only about insane crunch times. It's also about not being paid for that overtime." I said that because the topic started to deviate only on the crunchtime period. The combination of the both is the worst, but being paid would at least be some compensation.

Edit: Again with the spelling.

"so why have they never been able to make this simple connection:

crunch==bad management. "

The connection was made some time ago. Nothing has changed though.

Unpaid overtime has to be abolished in all forms of employment. It's a form of slavery.

"It is only because games cost so much more than film tickets ($50 versus $7) that games can outsell films, despite their narrower appeal."

Using this argument is invalid, since a movie contains on average 1.5 hrs of content whereas computer games can provide between 10 and 20+ hours of content. Multiply your movie ticket cost by 10 or 20 and you will find they are either on par or games provide actually cheaper content by the hour. In some rare cases they can provide hundreds of hours (Morrowind for example).

"May be, but for the film they didn't use a larger area. "

Must have been a resolution issue. I think with larger capture volumes the resolution of the capture is much more coarse. Maybe with software like IQ and Motionbuilder the stitching of these sessions might be easier. But what a pain in the butt to capture Thing is, with 24 camera on the system you could stretch them out however you want to capture long halls and such. I wonder why they did it? But anyway, I agree, Tom Hanks would be a reliable source

Zathrus, the tests I have seen done with Vicon series are more capable of just a 3x3m area. I saw a capture of a horse which was also done for LOTR (someone else did it first and I can't remember who) and this was far larger than that area. Where did this info come from?

"The Polar Express, which opens in theatres today, is the first time that a big-budget Hollywood film has so blatantly raided the video game industry's tool box for ideas."

I think the movie industry has been using mocap longer than the games industry...

I notice the manage bookmarks now (was it there before?). Either way it's much better.

I only just downloaded their previous version. Seemed like a good little browser except for a few problems. Hope they fixed them. The bookmarking functionality sucked imo.
