omg redwoods! I totally forgot about that webpage Used to be my number one bookmark for fps haha
Thanks for the flashback

I once found a website that had a bunch of these old sites archived. It was kind of fun going through and reading some of the last news to feature on those sites. Can't for the life of me find it now though. Anyone else?

The video they released of this didn't really impress me much. Dont get me wrong, the art work is still very nice, but the eye adaption thing just made it look like you were running around with a digital camera on your head.

Even though I never made it through Alpha labs in Doom 3...

Lemme guess. Repetition? As much praise as I heard for Riddick I could not play the game through after playing Doom 3. I simply cannot see that visual style anymore.

Tip for those in marketing... turn the resolution *up* when you capture your marketing material, not down silly.

Oh, Raven should have never, ever, been left with the responsibility of making Quake4, or QuakeAnything for that matter.

Anyone else think that iD are deliberately trying to sabotage the Quake and Doom franchises? I guess it's a good thing, they need to start with something fresh.

Well, lets put blame on the right people. The cheaters. Were there none, there would be no need for such a patch.

What I don't understand is why punkbuster wasn't enough. Or was purely to stop multiple logins?

I was never hit as a child and I’m making more money than I know what do with flying 40,000 pound jets also at age 23. So you be the judge...

Yes, let's compare monetary income values with successful parenting. Nice.

People who beat their children out of anger and bad parenting also tend to beat their spouses.

Now let's generalise how someone who tries to restrain their child is also responsible for beating their wives... remember this has nothing to do with anger.

This trailer confirms what we already knew: this isn't Doom.

Actually it confirms what I already knew - that horror movies really do bomb 90%+ of the time.

abuse and violence is self-replicating - its not the answer.. its the easy way out for stupid people

For me it was necessary and I will never refer to my parents as "stupid" - neither should you. Discipline is not violence. Look up the term in the dictionary. Unfortunately some people (don't get me wrong - I am not talking about anyone here) take discipline too far and turn that into abuse. Please understand the difference.

"1. Training expected to produce a specific character or pattern of behavior, especially training that produces moral or mental improvement."

I truly hope that you are not a parent Andy.

I'm referring to how I was brought up. I have no problem admitting that as a child I occasionally got out of hand. When my parents (who I repect more than I can describe) disciplined me when it was necessary, I can say without a doubt that did not have a negative impact on who I am today. You may however disagree

Of course each child has their own needs, but what I am saying is that today, forms of discipline that were accepted only years back are now viewed as child abuse. This is pure hogwash.

[edit] I just read your subject title. What makes you so frightened?

Maybe it is the parenting.

I disagree with this. If your child runs amok you have 2 choices. Let them go wild or discipline them. Today certain forms of discipline are shunned as "child abuse" - screwed both ways.

In this day and age a parent is impotent to do anything. Let your child do whatever the heck he/she wants, or correct him/her and then get "disciplined" by the government for being a so called child abuser. Gimme a break. Of course this doesn't excuse parents who are obviously bad.

1) Rockstar admitted it was an inhouse prank and they removed the code from being a functioning part of the game. That’s their prerogative if they play in-house stunts and pranks. Not yours.

Removing code is far easier than removing the actual content. After removing code I'm sure there is a hefty amount of quality assurance testing to prove that the removal of that code didn't break anything else. Removing a bunch of animations and artwork however is trivial (relatively speaking).
