Hey Blue, I think they meant the next holiday season, not this years. It would be both a really quick developmentcycle by ubisoft and a new and weird marketing trick to release the game one year before the premiere of the movie.

CreamyBlood, you amaze me. Now that your bs-switch is in the off position you actually have good points
I thought there were some coherent thoughts in your earlier posts but they were buried in so much flamy bs you were just irritating me (maybe it's that cheap american beer you mention somewhere else)
Now you've pleasantly surprised me by showing you have more than 3 braincells (who knows, there might be hope for humanity afterall) Moreover, I totally agree with you.

But I would like to add that gaming engines have been licenced since at least the original doom (hexen, anyone?) The hot engines just aren't freeware, they cost you about $ 1,000,000 plus royalties which I guess is fair if you've spend 4 years developing the damned thing.

I can see some future modularization in 3d models though. Filmstudios don't usually build cars for movies, they rent or buy them. I can see this happening in future games. It would give the gamestudio more time to do the creative stuff, doing set design and designing the mood of their world instead of that chair in the corner. But I guess this is also already happening to some degree.

I too can't wait for global userprefs, sounds great.

The denver post messed up bigtime. M$ will let other manufacturers make players. They already do and some are less expensive than an ipod. No real news here except M$ is launching an online music service.

What I find so irritating about this html-add is that when i scroll down to older news I suddenly find myself scrolling through an add instead of going further down the page

I am using mozilla firebird and IE for work, my screenrez is 1280 but i am running my browser at about 900 pixels wide since most sites are designed for 800x600 and reading text @ 1280 is less comfortable.
Admittedly, the percentage devoted to content was already bad, but it's worse now (specially that blob of nothingness). It is slowly turning into a magazine where you have to skip the first 20 pages of adds to see the index where this site should be more like a newspaper, showing the big headlines first.
I understand blue's predicament but I hope he'll manage to find a more sensible (=userfriendly) solution.

I'm shocked by the redesign!
I understand you having to keep your head above water in these times but this redesign hurts. I don't know how many visitors here still view pages at 800x600, but at this resolution more than 7/8 of the page is not content related, 1/3 is logo plus a load of nothing and 1/3 is add. That is very bad ergonomics.
It doesn't get much better at 1024; content is still only about 1/4 of the initial screen. It is very bad use of screenrealestate and the load of nothingness is a crime. Even worse, at 800x600 there is a horizontal scrollbar, very unprofessional. You should try to get the content to fill at least 50% of the view and that should be doable, please give it a try.
It is a shame to see your site slipping like that. Fortunately the content, once scrolled into view, is still great.
Technically, it is a shame to see you still using the dreaded font tag, is has been outlawed by the w3c for, um, 2 years and sortof defeats the use of stylesheets, it simply might not work in future browsers. The stylesheet could incorporate more designlogic, although it looks well organized it is just a bunch of classes. The overuse of tables could also be avoided, even concidering compatibility with other browsers (who uses version 4 or older browsers these days?) Is it so determined by whatever CMS you are using? I would love to see not only your content but your site rock as well.

Am I the only one to notice the small blurp at the end of this article?
"Epic's first game designed specifically for 64-bit desktop computing won't come out for nearly two years, Sweeney said. It's a brand new game, he added, not another version of 'Unreal Tournament', that will feature photorealistic textures."
That means they are already working on this new game, right? I wonder what they mean by photorealistic, just bigger texturs (boring) or loads of shaders...

No need to do research for that. Just look at how the middle of the bums don't align with the middle of the back of the skirts. If they were real the bums wouldn't align so nicely with the women wearing them.
The 24hr fitness is so absurd you know it is true, though

Yeah, both soundtrack and sounds had real character. Or maybe I just dwelled too long in that realm since it took quite a while for other games to eclipse q1.
With q2 the sounds were good but not that good. Specially the rl, that woosh made you feel the rocket traveling down the barrel and that made the rl seem even slower than it already was.

If we can have CST, CDT and EDT then why not have 24h GMT?
Most europeans know their temporal location (nice word, eh?) relative to GMT.

Most civilised countries concider the killing of people a crime and as such have made the selling and owning of tools, which are primarily designed to kill fellow human beings, illegal. I think this is a higher principle than selfdefence.
BTW, how is a government supposed to make parents more responsible?

Where the hell does Angel Munoz get the balls to be so WEAK!!! He is giving in to fear and to the terrorists responsible for sept 11, even though the terrorists depicted in CS are of a different breed. These are the typical white guys who think they're commando's, modeled on the IRA, Rote Armee Fraction and such.
By taking out all these things he's taking out the heart of what CS is all about.

No, I feel sorry for the guys who designed and build CS. I would seriously concider quitting my job if my work was ass-raped like that.

I have to make a small amendment to my earlier post (from a different machine, hence anon) That animated brick-laying stuff is distracting me from comfy reading the news so it is not that perfect. Still better than those nasty poop-ins or whatever they are called and you prob have no control over the designquality of the adds anyway.

Sorry to see the looner go. No more fruit for us Bluesers.

Bluesnews has been my homepage for more than 4 years, please keep it that way and remove those pop-up thingies. I understand u need some revenue to keep the site alive but please look for other ways, these things are annoying and prevent me from directly reading the news. Very, very bad usability.
