News Comments > ARMA II Demo Nears
10. Re: ARMA II Demo Nears Jun 22, 2009, 15:27 Veinman

I'm not sure why people keep bringing up CoD 4.... every square foot of that game could probably fit in one of ArmA II's forests. Of course it's going to look nicer.

With a 2GB demo, I'm wondering how many reliable sources there will be for downloading... I really want to try this one.

So they are planning a trial version of their game that comes out on a platform that literally demands that every game on it has a demo?

How revolutionary!

It's encouraging to see Eurogamer be fairly positive about ArmA II.

Note to Impulse guys: Marking something down from $50 to $48.50 is not really what I'd call a sale.

I would not be surprised if there was Battlefield 3 for PC, and then Battlefield: Stupid Subtitle for the consoles. I am also guessing that the PC version will be a genuine PC game, not a port.

I really enjoyed Action Quake 2. I skipped it for HL. I'll check this out if they put Mr. T in it. Did they?

The Just Cause 2 walk-through was fantastic. Crackdown 2 is high on my list as well. Left 4 Dead 2 will surely enter my collection... at some point.

Funny how everything good this year was a sequel. I suppose that's not always a bad thing.

Steam is taking pre-orders for it.

It's way too early to get super-pissed. I'm waiting for the price tag before I get pissed.

I really don't get why people are chomping at the bit for episode 3. It's not like HL2 has some engrossing story and you just can't wait to find out what happens next. HL2 and its episodes are linear to a fault, and while they deliver some thrills and of course great production values, personally I've had more fun with Portal, TF2 and L4D. Hell, I'd take the next Counter-Strike before ep 3.

I'd be extremely suprised if that Magic game isn't set up to sell extra cards.

As for the motion control, it's easy to think of ways it could make awesome games, and the concept of unique control methods without actually buying unique controllers is great. But until it's real and available for purchase with actual game support.... who cares.

News Comments > Far Cry 2 Patch
6. Re: Far Cry 2 Patch Jun 3, 2009, 13:03 Veinman

I played a bit of it on 360 and was impressed at how it completely felt like a PC game crammed on 360 instead of the other way around. I liked it but certainly recognize all the complaints.

If anything it's a cool framework that could be used to make a better game.

From what they've shown, I don't think it's even as cool as actual different parts of levels. It seems to be small portions of levels (rooms in a general sense) where props in the room can be changed to open or block pathways. They mention sarcophagi, maybe hedges, shipping containers, that kind of thing.

I'm picturing a blank area like that Forge map for Halo 3.

News Comments > Left 4 Dead 2 Announced
16. Re: Left 4 Dead 2 Announced Jun 1, 2009, 15:25 Veinman

I'm surprised at this announcement. It certainly seems obvious that they won't be expanding the original game much farther than they already have. The dynamic pathways bit is a no-brainer that I was hoping someone would mod into the original game.

I'll certainly try to resist buying this one right out of the gate... I don't know if I'll succeed in that effort. I did get my $40 worth out of L4D.

I can't wait to hear more details about this one. They have a great opportunity to right the wrongs of the first game while still heading in the same general direction.

I preferred the more realistic look it originally had. Either way, I still hope the game delivers on its premise. If it does, I'll be picking it up.

Does anyone know how much ArmA II is going to cost in North America? Is it boxed, download, what?

I noticed in one of the ArmA 2 videos that got put up on youtube, as the player was crawling around, sheets of grass were laying down in front of him.

I'm very interested in this game, but frankly the people that are planning to knowingly buy a broken game are NOT helping matters. That sends a message that has been sent too many times, for too long.
