News Comments > Steamship Ahoy - Hatred
19. Re: Steamship Ahoy - Hatred Jun 2, 2015, 07:56 Xero
I've only played the tutorial and first mission so far.
Yes, it's just a twin sticker shooter with the ability to crouch, sprint, roll, and leap over some objects.

Seems like an updated Postal 1 except mostly black and greys, very dark game.

The executions get old quick because you perform them so often to regen health but they do look brutal in theory. They are not MKX over the top detailed but they are violent eitherway.

There isn't much depth thus far what I've played but for what it's worth, you can steal the cop cars and drive around GTA1 and 2 style
Also the graphics/animations aren't too shabby. The dude's hair and cloak all got physics in them so they are constantly flapping around and moving while your running around and shooting it out.

I would definitely not buy this game for more than $3 bucks with the content provided so far.

News Comments > The Witcher 3 Patch Plans
6. Re: The Witcher 3 Patch Plans Jun 1, 2015, 10:20 Xero
This game runs nearly flawless maxed out on my 970gtx with the exception that I don't have the Hair effects enabled (is this even needed? there are physics in the dude's hair already), and I think I put shadows at medium but might crank them up at high to see how it affects the FPS.

Currently it's running everything else on Ultra and I get smooth gameplay so I think I can afford to crank up 1 more dial.

With that said, the controls are still iffy. They seem unresponsive at times and Geralt does feel heavy to move around at times when you are turning him or trying to zero in on a spot to get to quickly but the game is good enough to make you forgive these little frustrations.

Nvidia giving AMD no breather room. They are absolutely crushing them right now and the 980TI was basically them dropping the mic and walking away.

While the performance is amazing on the 980TI, it's still out of my price range but as others have stated, with no competition at the top, Nvidia can basically control the market. That's until someone else steps up when they've had enough, lol.

News Comments > Heroes of the Storm Launch Event
3. Re: Heroes of the Storm Launch Event May 29, 2015, 16:23 Xero
I actually love the high level of detail each unit is given. It's makes them larger than life which is what this game should be about. Giving personality to the characters more than they could in their own respective game world.

With the higher detail levels, you can really appreciate the character more than the other game world he/she used to be in.

The Mountain King was always one of my favorite Warcraft 3 hero units and to see him back in lots of glorious detail is awesome.

With that said though, this launch event just about has me exhausted from all the HotS alpha/beta that I've taken part of. In a way, it reminds me of why I'm against Early Access buying of games.

In this case it was free to alpha/beta test, but Early Access purchasing with your money is like your paying to bug test the game for people that will eventually buy the final version that is the way the developers intended, hopefully bug free. So while your probably already bored of the game playing it Early and having paid for it, the others are now paying for it and getting the final copy to enjoy as it was intended.

Doesn't make too much sense to me at times, but I do know some don't mind playing it alpha/beta/final without ever getting bored.

News Comments > New Need for Speed Requires Internet Connection
23. Re: New Need for Speed Requires Internet Connection May 29, 2015, 12:03 Xero
My favorite Need for Speed title was the original Most Wanted. It actually got me into cars and learned how manual driving operates as I played the entire game in manual mode. Made it a heck of a lot more fun than boring automatic.

I still remember aquiring the Supra in like my 1st or 2nd rival race and taking that from beginning to end with mods that you could hear and feel each time out. It was awesome.

Need for Speed Carbon got close to capturing the fun of Most Wanted but I could already see new directions they were moving the series in and I didn't dig it as much.

All Need for Speeds after bombed in my eyes.

Uh I doubt he's talking about including the price of a monitor with a new pc, as most people already have one or hook it up to an existing HDTV.

Also.. $35 PSU? I'm sorry for anyone whom would ever think that is a viable option to put into a machine you're spending $500+ on.

You can easily get a PSU on sale for cheaper than $100. I know I've been looking at ones in the $75 range that's on sale.... normally $120. So yes you can still get good ones for cheap.

Even then only higher end ones will give more power which most systems don't need with a single GPU. Placing two or more GPU's in the system yes I'd look for a higher quality one. Otherwise its fine.

Course this is someone that spend $150... 7 years ago on a 750W Modular PSU that still runs like a tank today and has been through many upgrades but typically only uses a max of 420W full system load now thanks to upgrades, SSD, more efficient CPU's.

I bought my PSU for 60 bucks with a 10 dollar mail in rebate at Microcenter. It's 750w that is more than capable of my system as long as I don't go SLI. The PSU itself hasn't had great reviews (Corsair Bronze) but it's been a champ so far so I can't say anything bad about it.

17. Re: Oculus Rift Price Discussed May 28, 2015, 11:36 Xero
They better be careful how they market this because it could backfire in their face and I'll be there laughing with everyone else.

VR is still a gimmick for many or sketchy. I know this is more VR than we've probably ever had in the past but ultimately, it's still sketchy.

Now your gonna charge a lot for it? I already have my power rig so no need to help me on that Oculus, how about charging us a "fair" price on the Rift headset if you honestly want us to try out the "gimmick" and see if it's worth caring about in the future or not.

29. Re: Overwatch Video May 28, 2015, 08:13 Xero
For me, the last, crazy guns blazing, rockets propelled all over the place, fast FPS shooting was Quake 3 Arena. I had my fill in that game and then some with UT although UT had it's modes that allowed less madness and objectives and whatnot.

Still, nothing quite compared to Quake 3 Arena in it's days.

At this point, I wouldn't mind trying this game just to give a proper opinion on how Blizzard's FPS fairs but I have an idea. It's a concept that already works else where and Blizzard cleans it up a bit, simplifies it, and makes it really fun to grasp. That's how 99.9% of their games have gone since the 2000s...

when they put the bots back in (ala BF2) I'll buy back into the series, but until that day comes I just can't be bothered.

Does anyone really get their jollies off bot gameplay these days? I honestly thought it was a thing of the past to make up for our lack of internet connections or PC's that can handle a good size multi.

Nowadays, bots don't cut it IMO. Heck, in Counter Strike GO, you do a warmup round with bots until all players join the matchup (5vs5), and man do those bots suck. I can't wait till they all disappear and get filled with real players. Makes me forget the days I actually enjoyed messing around with the bad AI bots in games.

With all that said, I think this patch will bring me back to BF4 after quite a hiatus I went on after falling back in love with CS Go.

News Comments > Fraudulent ESO Keys Banned
22. Re: Fraudulent ESO Keys Banned May 27, 2015, 08:40 Xero
Look, I understand the wrong doing as far as THE SELLERS go, but you can't blame the buyers, and worse, you can't take back the product.

I understand your theories of the police would take back a stolen tv that you bought off a van, but this is different.

These keys couldn't have been hacked off the network to be used because that would take the chance of a duplicate being sold if the original was sold legit by the company.

These keys are "purchased" already by the seller in bulk, bundles, whatever it may be and then being resold. The problem is the publisher doesn't like the "resold" part because that is where they take a hit as obviously the consumer will go for the cheapest option.

Now because they aren't happy, they want to remove those licenses or in other words, turn off your game you were happily playing that you did put out money for, just not directly to the company. This can have huge backfire on the company because the customer will have ill feelings generally towards the closest interaction that is causing the issue and that would be the company and not the seller. You think that customer will ever want to buy direct from the company again? Probably he/she thinks hard before next purchase.

The company has to go after the sellers and beef up their resell policies instead if they want to crack down on this issue. Not go after the buyers.

I'm kind of lost these days in the IP known as Resident Evil. Where I left off more or less at Resident Evil 2 (some of 3), has gone ape shiiieet crazy. I can't even count how many sequels have been released that look absolutely nothing like the RE I know.

If they are going to remake an RE, at least give us arguably one of the better ones, RE2? I still remember that game being my first PC game I bought, lol. Platinum Edition!

Is this the patch that makes it fun?

It's very fun. You have have to understand the way each class works, the patience required to time your abilities, and obviously you need to get into good co op games.

There isn't much fun going solo in this one and I can't even remember the last time I went solo as multi is where the real meat of this game is at.

It seems very simple at first glance, but once you get into it, there is some depth to be found. Something I didn't figure out immediately.

What the hell?

This is very surprising news. I thought the game was solid enough once you get into it and understand the class mechanics and how the game's progression works.

I put in 56 hours to the game so far with the majority of that, multi of course.

As everyone unlocked and earned everything possible, the online has died down a bit but they still have some challenge maps that are seasonal that let you earn new capes. I check-in once in a while to get those.

Hearing there might be new content for a game that has already been out for some time and I thought I was completely done with? Awesome to hear!

I never liked CS GO, its a runners-up prize for people who missed CS, complete with CODish unlocks and a moba-type-asshole community.

Some servs were ok to be fair, but I never desired to sink any time in like I did CS.

This isn't accurate. All you get are skin unlocks once in a blue moon that are for looks, nothing more.

As far as the community goes, I don't see it any different than any other typical shooter game. I never played CoD so I don't know that community but I'm sure it's full of whiny 10 year olds as they seem to be the age group for that games audience.

CS Go still has some of the original CS players which to me, can't get any more hardcore than that. I myself am an original Counter Strike beta 1.4 player, so I go way back. Finding those similar is an awesome experience, because we are basically chatting about an experience that is nearly 15 years old now. Imagine that?

Glad to read continued glowing reviews on the be quiet! Pure Rock CPU cooler. I actually learned about it and bought it based off a review link posted on Blues months ago. For the money, you can't find a better cooler. I believe I paid $30 or $35 on Newegg when I built my rig. Totally worth it.

It provides awesome fan based cooling and you can't hear a thing. Installation was easy because it does not require you to remove the mobo (Thank God). It went in quite easily with the only issue being you might have to raise the fan height due to memory stick clearance. As noted in many reviews, just make sure your memory sticks aren't too tall, otherwise the fan will not clear it. Mine required me to adjust the fan a few MM north to clear the memory but overall not that major of an issue for me.

It looks great and I've gotten plenty of compliments from my nerd friends when they swing by. It's quite a looker thru the case window to see the big tower staring back at you with the be Quiet! logo ontop.

News Comments > Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Hitboxes "Being Worked On"
1. Re: Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Hitboxes May 22, 2015, 09:16 Xero
Interesting. I wonder if this is related to something I've noticed where I'm not far from my enemy and unloading an entire clip at them in a crouched position to really limit inaccuracy and the bullets are clearly going at the target but not doing enough dmg to kill them.

It's like we literally are trading bullets at close range but my shots aren't killing despite being very close to target and the entire clip is nearly emptied on them.

I've experienced this NUMEROUS times and it feels like something is wrong. I keep questioning, is it that body armor is just that good at protecting them from that many shots? Not sure what's up.

Based off this performance chart -

It looks there is only a 6fps gain between a 970 and 980 at 1920by1080 which is my standard gaming resolution. Quite impressed with the 970 solo. Hair turned off as well for this chart.
