"Aerospace is plumbing with the volume turned up."
-John Carmack

LOL!!!

As to Carmacks ideas of simplicity, I'm not sure wtf he's thinking about with no crouch key. Especially in a per-poly hit detection game. It really IS a useful tool and necessity.

As for the use key, well, hey, I kinda agree with him on this. Why have it at all? If you walk up to something you can use, and it just works without you having to hit an extra key, why not? No big deal either way.

Also, it's funny that some of you are saying that if everyone felt like Carmack then games wouldn't ever advance. Stop eating lead paint. If it wasn't for CARMACK, first person shooters would never be at the advanced state they are today. HIS coding has made the visuals we take for granted today possible.

I'll agree, I don't think those shots look all that good, either.

Blocky character models, no detail in the trees, etc.

Morrowind still looks way better. Also, what is the point in playing a mmorpg with "private" quest areas? If you want private, why not play a single player game? Then you can go online, play it with friends, and NOT pay a monthly fee for doing so, and guess what? It'll be private!

I'm enjoying Lionheart. I prefer a slower paced game when it comes to rpgs, like BG2 or Fallout, but still, I'm pretty happy with it. I'd agree with that review, too, except where he said the graphics aren't good. I think the graphics, namely the artwork on the backgrounds, are fantastic. It's just the resolution that sucks.

Hey Creston, got a Ranger or Druid? Or anyone else with the skill, i forget now what they call it, pathfinding, or scouting, or whatever where in a new area it tells you what kind of creatures there are and what kind of footprints you see? Try using that skill (whatever it's called)in each new section of that maze, and it's no longer a maze.

I won't buy a game from Wallmart because they make developers tone down games or they wont sell them. I like a toned up game.

Ya, true, true....

But with the low quality of some of the games I've fallen for lately (The Matrix or Devistation, anyone?) I have kinda decided to read some reviews before I buy games, unless it's from a developer I trust.

But it would be nice to get games like HL2 or Doom 3 early, so no one can ruin the surprizes.

Blue, just because I'm in fredricksons fan club doesn't mean I don't love you and the site. Hope you take him with a grain of salt.

That really was too funny, though, lol...

Honestly, I am really enjoying this game, although the combat isn't as stratigic as I'd like and a little too much like Diablo. I was kind of surprized and shocked that it only got a 6.5 from gamespot, I'd probably rate it low 80's. I think the artwork is fantastic, especially the backgrounds, and there's a whole lot more depth than Diablo. It does a reasonably good job of telling a story.

I'm having fun with it, and it should hold me over till ToEE and KOTOR get to pc. It's not the most epic roleplaying experience ever, but I think it does pretty well at what it aims for.

Dan, how do you know nobody is getting your number? Is anything "really" secure? I've heard that any incription can be cracked, and just don't trust the words -internet- and -security- when used in tandem. Then again, I live in a shack on a mountain and make bombs out of wood, so maybe it's just me.

Speaking personally, I'd rather wade through some pop-ups and keep the site free rather than pay a subscription. I think the pay-pal is a good idea though, especially if you have a post office box where we can snail mail you some checks.

Call me paranoid, but I've never bought anything online, with either a credit card or a debit card, and am mortally afraid to do so.

This is the best, most straightforward and consice news source out there for gaming that I know of, keep up the good work Mr. Heaslip.

how the heck didja play Quake 1 without mouselook??? and on what difficulty level did you play it?

heh, not very well, and on easy.

In fact, I can't remember how far I actually got through it, but I do remember I never finished it due to frustration. I didn't really get into shooters till quake 2, and when I went back and played the dooms and quake 1, I really got pissed at the controls. I know now that there are console commands to activate mouselook, but I never went back and tried those old ones done the right way. But a Doom 3 graphics facelift? Thats just the ticket!
