That's quake 2, isn't it? Could have sworn I've seen that same palace in Soldier of Fortune ONE. Also, look at the big stupid compass at the bottom. If that doesn't scream console I don't know what does.

As long as us PC gamers are willing to spend money on console ports and console designs, the game made truly for the pc will become like the dinasour, a thing of the past.

Oh, did I mention that while I don't want to be negative towards a game without actually playing it, I still have to agree with most of the sentiment here. FU Ion Storm. How could you murder Deus Ex? If you guys do the same thing to System Shock, I'll mail you pieces of my own feces.

this game sounds like it could be a total blast! Congrats on shipping, and what, if any, steps have you taken to ensure that one or two pieces of human garbage can't end up ruining the fun for everyone else on the server? I've been looking forward to this one ever since I heard of it!

Was the first one any good? I have almost picked this one up several times. I miss good adventure games. The last ones I played that I had any fun with were Blade Runner and Dark Earth.

I can't believe that neither EA nor Microsoft has bitten yet for only $800 Million.

Key people leaving or not, the name Blizzard HAS to be worth that alone. Add on UI, FI, Sierra, etc, and it seems like a steal to me.

You could package human feces in a box labled Diablo 3, and it would sell over a million copies, easy. Same with Starcraft 2, or Warcraft 4.

I mean sure, eventually EA would slopfuck the product and brand into submission, but I cant help but think that by that time they would have at least milked their investment back out of it.

It said that Blizzard alone had sales of $750 million last year, and that was for what, an expansion pack? I'm completely surprized that EA hasn't jumped on this as a way to add instant (temporary) credibility to their name.

Well here's another complaint. NWN sucks ass. BTW, Creston is right, it IS lame when all of your stuff gets taken away from you and you find yourself a captive with nothing but your jock for a buckskin slingshot. It makes everything you did in the games up to that point completely irrelevent.

BTW, NWN STILL sucks ass.

Nope, havn't played KOTOR yet, since it's not out on pc. I've got high hopes for it, but if it's anything at all like Neverwinter Nights, I'm not going to like it.

I've heard that all the dialogue is spoken in the game, not sure if thats true, but to me that can be a curse or a blessing, depending on who's doing the speaking.

Sometimes, I really prefer to read the dialogue instead of hearing a bad actor struggle through it.

"strategy game that allows the player to use RPG elements like character development, buying resources or a catching story that moves the action forward without forcing the player to read long texts."

Some of us WANT to read long texts in games. I'm very tired of everything being simplified and pasturized before being handed down to us.

This is similar to what I was watching on the Bill Mahr show the other night. He was talking about movies, but what he said seems to cross over into games as well.

He said something like "Remember when movies used to be made for adults? And if you were a kid, you had to step up if you wanted to understand, and really challenge yourself to learn anything, which helped you become an adult. The world revolved around adults and it made kids flex their brains and adapt, to become adults.

Nowadays, the world revolves around the "precious" children. Parents change their lives for their kids, all movies and media are geared towards kids sensibilitys, etc. So instead of kids reaching up to be adults, adults are reaching down to be children."

I think he made some pretty good points. I think you can also draw an analogy between parents and children in movie media and PC Gamers and Console gamers in video games.

Now that it has become the norm to make games "cross platform", what we end up with, especially in terms of roleplaying games, is a watered down, "child friendly" version of the real thing.

This is really troubling to me. In fact, and somebody tell me if I'm wrong, there hasn't been a really good CRPG with a deep and involving story ever since the X-Box came out.

And what's wrong with multiplayer NWN?
If done right NWN in multiplayer comes as close to pen&paper RPG as no other RPG, be it single-player or MMORPG.
And that's what RPGs originally are, pen&paper RPGs.

What im saying is: NWN multiplay = free
mmorpg multiplay = monthly fees

Why pay monthly for something you can already do for free?

Still, I personaly don't like NWN gameplay. I dont think it comes close to pen & paper at all. And in single player, your sidekick AI is screwy as hell. The texture sets are limited and boring. Everything is boxy. The character models are low detail. The voice acting is pathetic. The story line is lame and uninspired. The written dialog is way too small if you play at high resolutions. The camera is wonkey. The landscaping is uninspired. Other than those few minor quibbles, yea, it's a great game.

We'll have to wait and see, but through level design, monster placement, and making sure the fire/use option on one key is coded well, I would imagine it will work just fine.
