4. Re: How to watch the live stream for today’s Apple keynote. Mar 25, 2019, 13:27 Porn-O-Matic

Easy...
1.) Open browser of choice.
2.) Go to Youtube.com
3.) Watch random Fortnite "Let's Play" videos.
4.) Become 1000 times more educated than any of the brainless sheep watching the Apple keynote.

Careful, Rami... your immaturity is showing, and it's not attractive. All the more reason for me to pay no attention to Epic Games.

Sounds pretty desperate and the most probable root cause is that AMD can not deliver a high performance GPU for the next gen shitbox conslows.

AMD and the conslow makers are stuck with the shitty GCN architecture (Navi being the last iteration). PS5 and the next shitbox will be the most disappointing "next gen" ever.

So the only way to mfake next gen games look better is via h4XX and tR1XX like VRS coupled with adaptive resolution scaling.

The other reason is most likely to mitigate the performance degradation that comes with their super-shitty UWP apps. With VRS you can at least gain back a little bit of that performance loss.

Um, no, actually, the root cause is gamers themselves. With every generation of new video hardware comes the cry from those who can't afford the best or newest cards, so they continually demand that developers and manufacturers look for game optimizations and driver tweaks to make up the gaps where raw horsepower isn't enough. So, now that someone is doing the work that gamers demand, you have the nerve to throw them shade? Get fucked. It's not a "hack" or a "trick" (please note the proper spelling of those words), and it's a perfectly logical step in refining the code. If you want to visit a friend that lives three blocks down the street, you just walk straight there. You don't jump on a bus, take it halfway across the city, then hop a train, ride around the city loop, and then get a taxi to take you back to your neighborhood so you can walk three blocks to your friend's house, do you? No. The point of VRS is to cut out the bullshit work that is completely pointless and has no benefit.

It's also partly because of necessity out of the fact that GPU architectures are starting to reach a physical limit of what can be done in hardware without doubling the cost of making them, which just means higher retail prices yet again next time. I'd much rather see improvements to the code than have to upgrade my video card again soon.

On one hand, I give credit for these PC gamers who are hard-core enough to find a way to play in less-than-ideal conditions... but on the other hand, I find it disrespectful to PC gaming that they don't make an effort to have a proper gaming area, with a solid desk, closed PC cases, and at least a freakin' wide-screen gaming monitor. (4:3 ratio monitors should be rounded up and destroyed.)

On the Scum-O-Meter, I rank game cheaters and cheat makers only SLIGHTLY above child molesters, and even then, it's debatable. Any amount of prison time would be a walk in the park compared to the sentencing I would pass upon their useless fucking lives, and I give ZERO FUCKS if they are teenagers.

I believe artists deserve to be fairly compensated, enough to live comfortably, but none of them deserve to become obscenely rich, especially since so much American music produced in the last 15 years has been nothing but utter garbage. (But, part of the problem is that most American listeners are idiots who wouldn't know good music if it shot up their ass and exploded.)

He's not the only one. The CEO of my company, a Taiwanese man who voted for Obama both times, asked our IT department to upgrade his 4G company phone to 8G (because he felt the CEO should have a phone twice as fast as everyone else) and he was sure that it was just a setting on our firewall/wifi. Boggles...the...mind.

These kinds of lists are always subjective, but I find it amusing because just 3 or 4 years ago, I saw a virtually identical ranking article that placed The Voyage Home as one of the worst of the franchise, and now this list has it in the top 3. It just depends on who you ask.

Interest-free iPhones? I've never had any interest in them, so I've always considered them "interest-free".

I don't see why they note the Anisotropic Filtering at 16x as a setting, like that makes any difference. AF has been child's play for at least the last couple of generations and has zero impact on frame rates. It's not even worth having as a setting in games and should just be hard coded at 16x all the time, IMO.

6. Re: Steam Retiring Non-Gaming Videos Feb 21, 2019, 13:37 Porn-O-Matic

It's hard to get people to use something if you don't tell them about it. I've used Steam every day for over 14 years and although I knew they had videos, Valve almost never promoted them in any way whatsoever. I can count on one hand the number of times I logged into my account and saw any sort of notice about a video being available, and I've already seen dozens of comments from Steam users who had no idea that Steam had videos at all until now. Out of sight, out of mind.

Let the anti-vaxxers have thier way. Let the bodies of their children pile up when they contract deadly and perfectly preventable diseases. People who are THAT fucking RETARDED should not be allowed to breed in the first place, so when their unvaccinated kids die (and they WILL die), then that just helps clean some of the shit out of the gene pool.

I just bought Metro Exodus through the Epic Games store a couple days ago, and I've already got over 20 hours of play on it, and it's a fantastic game. The visuals are absolutely phenomenal on my RTX2080-powered rig, and performs great, even with maximum details and RTX turned on. The ray tracing is most noticeable in water reflections and shadows, but doesn't seem to employ global illumination (bounced light) as I was expecting. Great game play too, eye candy aside.

I just recently took an Amtrak from Kansas City to Chicago because A.) I hate the hassles of air travel, and B.)I haven't been on a train in decades, so I thought it would be fun. There were unusual delays that made my train ride 11 hours instead of the normal 7.5 hours, but I STILL preferred it over flying.

Really? Hmmm... PCars 2 runs great on my GTX2080 and Odyssey+ HMD. Didn't require that much tweaking either. The only track that gives me issues is Long Beach, all those buildings and such.

But yeah, I'm hugely disappointed that VR support is not coming to Rally 2. I may not buy it for that reason.
