Because 18 months ago we all cared a lot and were dying to play.

We don't care about the game now. But we care about the fact that we don't care. We cared about the old concept, we don't care about the current game, and we're distraught that such potential is down the toilet.

So why not say "I care about the gameplay, the world, etc. the subscription (or not, as it were) model sucks." ? Why the "OMG HELLGATE SUCKS" childish moans? Why not talk about the actual issue, how it could be done better, why it sucks, etc. and be constructive for once. Instead, Bluesnews message board typically looks like a kindergarten where someone missed out on nap time.

If you truly did not care about the game, I doubt you'd even bother clicking on the comment button. So stop hiding behind your "Flashship studios can suck my pole" mantras and talk about what really bothers you. Otherwise, it's just masturbation (potentially group, but masturbation none-the-less), and no one wants to see that.

Outrageously retarded...

Right.

I see the bar for that drops every day.

Seriously, lighten up.

If it doesn't sound like your cup o' tea, don't buy it.

Honestly, it just sounds like a lot of bitching by people who know next to nothing about the game over something that wouldn't interest them anyway.

It's funny how worked up people get about things they say they won't play or claim not to care about.

Yep. Greed. I'm sure it has nothing to do with:

Inflation

Ratio of Free / Paid users (vs a smaller # of users overall if it was only pay, even at a lower price point)

Increased costs in development (come on, you expect complexity and more detail comes for free?)

Play it for free until you've exhausted content. If it's fun enough, upgrade your account and keep going until you've lost interest. Then cancel. Shockingly hard, that, I know.

What's that? DRM/Copy Protection harming legitimate consumers? Say it ain't so.

The only people ever inconvenienced by copy protection / DRM are the people who actually paid money for it.

This, along with every movie, game, song is already available for free on the internet. The people DRM/Copy Protection is supposed to prevent from having it already have it and do not have to live with this hassle.

Companies should stop WASTING money on DRM/Copy Protection. It'll save them far more than any amount they're "losing" from copyright infringement. Not to mention, their customers will not have to deal with this massive headache every time a new game is released.

Ever notice how one of the first patches for a lot of new games is to remove the copy protection? Funny, that.

Re: Rainier: Why not just ban him? Seriously...

Hey Zephalephelah, Starcraft is clearly unfinished, since they're patching it! They OBVIOUSLY should have delayed the release until these issues were sorted out!

Why is 3DFX even an option, never mind that it's squaring off against nVidia, who bought most of 3DFX's assets and hired a bunch of their employees...

My issue with the game is that I was expecting a bigger difference visually from BF, and honestly, game play less like BF. So I am a little disappointed at that. I might still pick it up on release, though.

Zephalephelah:
Call the WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMBULANCE.

Patches are frequently more than just fixing things. But you want to have your cake and eat it, too, apparently. You want the game done fast and out the door in a finished state. Well, here's news: MMOs are basically never finished until they close down. WoW patches have added a significant amount of content since release. WoW was in development long enough (8+ years). No game is perfect at release, no matter how long it spends in development.

Hint: All Blizzard games that have been released in the last 15 years have had a string of patches. And if you compare the patch count to unique content, I'd say Diablo, Diablo2, Starcraft, and Warcraft et al have an equivilent number of patches. Not to mention, nearly all of these patches DID NOT ADD NEW CONTENT.

Starcraft: 23
Diablo 2 : 19
Diablo : >7
Warcraft : 6 listed, but it goes from 1.13 to 1.21
Warcraft2: 5
Warcraft3: 29

And there are /still/ bugs in all of those games.

World of Warcraft : 13 Major Content patches, and probably 2 to 4 sub patches between them. (26 - 52). And *EVERY* one of those 13 has had significant new content and mechanics.

It's a fact of life that complexity in games has increased significantly since the original Warcraft. That means more room for error and more patches. It sucks, but would you rather be a poor console gamer back in the day where they didn't have hard drives and internet (or BBS) connections when you discover that your game corrupts saves after the 3rd level at random?

And ultimately, if you don't find a company's behavior acceptable, vote with your $$. Crying like a baby with colic on a message board that they don't even read gets you nowhere except in to a flame war.

But I don't expect someone mentally equivilent to a 6 year old to understand that.

I don't get what the issue is with 'knife and pistol servers'. Can someone enlighten me as to why that's such a bad thing?

In CS, at any rate, sometimes it was fun to go on servers that restricted the weapons. Are they talking about something else here? Or is it just that they're doing it on ranking servers?

This is the sort of issue you should expect to become very common if we don't have a sensible and comprehensive network neutrality law passed.

Carriers will lower the priority on high-volume users unless they pay up.

While this was *probably* an accident, it really underscores the power that they have in affecting your experience.

Yeah... It's hard to take seriously a site that needs to bold every controversial claim to make a point.

Or it's seven "questions" that just answer themselves.

It reads like someone got cancer even though they were using sunscreen and now are throwing a temper tantrum.

And an advertisement for the author's other products.

Not that I wear sunscreen anyway, I tan instead of burn 99% of the time.

Yeah, cuz they only started working on it a couple months ago, obviously.

Frankly, I tihnk Arthas/Ner'zhul are probably closer to level 90 in power level. I mean, Arthas beat Illidan, and then fused with Ner'zhul. Ner'zhul was already more powerful than both of them though was limited by his throne. I'm sure they've only grown in power since then.

I'd prefer more with the dragon flights as a buffer up to 80 before Arthas, because, as Blizzard has stated, the Lich King is just short of godhood at this point in terms of power. Kil'Jaeden lost control of him long ago. Kil'Jaeden is probably only slightly more powerful than Archimonde, I figure.

And I'm betting we'll see Sargeras at some point (90 or 100) as kind of a final boss in WoW. I'm not sure what they could possibly do after that. I mean, the Titans basically are what we consider God, and he's just the one that went evil.

I love people who make broad sweeping claims that you can put out quality content in much shorter time simply by throwing more people on it.

Go read the Mythical Man Month and get a clue.

I also love people who insinuate that Blizzard is holding back a finished product until it can be "bothered" to release it. You bitch when it's not ready when you want it to be, and you bitch when it's got bugs. No pleasing consumers I guess.

I'm hoping that it's not more repetative faction grinding also.

On the other hand, I love Karazhan. I've only been in there 2 or 3 times (only 1 full clear, actually) and I'm revered with the violet eye. Rep is ridiculously easy to get there and the ring is pretty good. I would not say no to more Karazhan type content. Once you get the hang of it, clearing it in 4 hours is pretty easy, the fights are fun and interesting with few exceptions.

On the other hand, no more retarded attunement quests like for SSC and TK. I'm glad they removed them. They were retarded. Given the natural imbalance in numbers between DPS and healer/tank classes, we had a handful of people who did the Trials *dozens* of times each just to key up new folks. After that, they weren't interested in raiding.

Also, all the old world content is basically irrelevant. It really needs to be revamped in a big way to be interesting and useful to everyone, not just level 1 - 57 characters. It's literally a ghost town.

Honestly, the biggest problem with the classes (aside from pvp balance, but that ought to be secondary in a mostly PvE game) is that so many classes are so similar now.

Adding another class is pointless because it won't stand out in any way in terms of capabilities. As it is, the differences between Priests, Paladins, Shaman, and Druids are minimal in terms of effectiveness. Every talent tree is basically "make me more like talent tree Y in class X". Gets kind of boring :/

But without another overarching game mechanic to add another dimension, this is how it will stay.
