The article I linked was also about Stephanie Meneff, mixed up the names, since the article was on the other antivaxxer's blog.

That was certainly a compelling and fascinating read.

I'm sorry to see so many people here find pseudoscientific nonsense compelling, but not surprised. The bullshit asymmetry principle is just made for this crap: the Jennifer Margulises of this world can spew scientifically illiterate tosh at a rate that actual rational scientists can't hope to keep up with, and the scientifically illiterate public keep enabling them. I'm glad there are still some who keep trying, in this particular case right here, but really it's a losing fight. The writer here is a Ph.D. in organic chemistry, whereas Jennifer Margulis has no medical or biochemical training and is a long-time anti-glysphosate crusader who publishes in non-peer reviewed predatory journals ie. an ideologue and not any kind of an expert on the topic. She also claims glyphosate causes autism, and will 100% blame glyphosate for the next big health topic as well.

Developing a mindset that values critical thinking takes time, but some good places to start would be:

Y'all give him way too much credit, seriously.

Yeah, this is John Carmack, not John von Neumann. He's talented for a regular person, but he's still a regular person, not a genius.

Step off the stage Mr Simpleton, that's simply bullshit, he's obviously a genius. He's pretty much the definition of one.

Like I said, John von Neumann is an example of a genius, John Carmack is an example of a smart guy who's good at a thing. Can you not see the massive difference between them?

I bought a random cheap gaming mouse to hold me over for a while when my Logitech MX518 broke, and it's been about a decade and it's only now starting to fail (the wheel is a bit hard to depress in some positions, although it still works). That Logitech broke in a year or two, but this one feels like it'd happily go another decade if I didn't mind the wheel. Never heard of the company before or since (Sharkoon). Probably should've gotten another one from them, but there was a nice deal on a Logitech so I guess I'll give them a go again.

I envision DOOM being in the Humble Monthly in the next couple of months. If not August's unlock then September's headliner.

If FO4 is any indication TESVI isn't going to look much like an RPG anymore. I guess they could take another turn in their design philosophy, but considering how much money FO4 made them I don't imagine they see any need to.

As for ESO it's actually pretty fun and the world feels genuinely Elder Scrollsy. I got it last summer and played through the thieves' guild storyline and promptly lost interest, but just recently started playing again and am fairly entertained. It's less immersive than a single player RPG, but the world is huge and it's nice to explore pre-TES Tamriel and you can play it perfectly fine as a single player game.

They're basically pulling a Sean Murray by pretending the game isn't a bit of a wreck. I guess most of the problems are too fundamental to fix at this point so might as well not acknowledge them.

Report finds chemicals in one-third of fast food packaging

I for one find this very worrisome. Two thirds of fast food packaging is apparently made of magic and no one's talking about this? Did Big Chemical silence Food Babe or what?

I finished MD not that long ago and I can't even remember how it ended, that's how lackluster the ending was. That's not hyperbole either, I literally have no recollection. I did enjoy the game and liked messing around in Prague, but it seemed like they cut out big chunks of the game so they can sell it as DLC.

I'm very hopeful about Cyberpunk 2077, but a bit worried that they're hiring too many western devs who can't imagine open world games being anything more than soulless chasing of icons on a map and climbing a tower now and then, what with the recent news item about filling a few key roles. Also the multiplayer aspect could completely ruin the game.

Coming out of <Lurk Mode(tm)> to ask if anyone on AMD is having problems? I've spoken to, personally seen and have personally experienced a really nasty driver crash during the opening intro...stroll in the cart. Right as the one thief guy says the town he's from, at that exact point, every time, my driver crashes, usually taking the game with it. Friends of mine on my old 5770 and 4870 both have the same problem AND on my mother's A6 (HD6350), it also happens. Right now, I can't play it past this point...and yes, I've both updated AND fallen back on drivers, it doesn't seem to matter ATM...

=-Rigs-=

I haven't played further than the intro cave yet, but no problems for me so far. I have a 290x and 16.9.2 drivers.

I'm still using the same card as when I bought Skyrim

And the game is still using the same retrofitted Gamebryo engine that's been creaking at the seams for the last 15 years, so performance may or may not be good regardless of hardware.

Anyway they've said that saves do carry over, but if they've been made with mods there may be problems, and who doesn't use mods with these games?
