This is not true, do not listen to sixis. The netcode for CS on original hl, and now CS:S does not have latency in the normal sense. The hits/misses go off what you see on screen, so if your ping is 3, 700, 234, or 100, and you make an accurate headshot, you hit the dude in the head - this is why sometimes you will unload into some hpb's face, and a second later your head bursts - his client side signal indicating he blew your head off was logged on his computer at a server time before your shots went off at all. Due to client prediction, this makes things a little crazy seeming, but it evens the playing field for hpbs significantly.

If you suck as CS:S, quit holding your god damn trigger down - firing an automatic weapon on automatic mode in real life is about as accurate as portrayed on cs:s. I've been playing for a while, and man its funny slaying a million people who try to fully-automatic you into oblivion from 300 yards. Of course, the HUD makes it look like you should be aiming at the person (the crosshairs are not an accurate reflection of the cone of possibility), and the argument could be made that where your crosshairs are should be where you are aiming, but we all choose the games we play.
