Guild Wars "breaks the mold" because it is not even an MMORPG. An RPG?.....somewhat, but MMO?....not even close.

Guild Wars is a mix of PSO, a collectable card game, and a touch of Diablo rolled into one. It is more an 3rd person action RPG than anything.

America never landed on the moon. Read the facts on this page and decide for yourself. It was all faked and was the biggest propaganda/marketing stunt in history. But hey, at least we "beat" the Russians there. Whatever.

Amazingly well, actually. We hit our first big milestone of 100 cups in one day.

Next, we are going online and starting an e-commerce site. I need someone to dress up in a giant lemon for advertising.....interested Spume?

....but this game is absolutely terrible. I was looking forward to this, but man is it bad. The units are lame and uninspired, the graphics are mediocore, and the interface is bad. This game was obviously built without even glancing at the recent advances in the RTS genre. It is basic and boring.

I do not mind exclusives. It is all marketing and business ,and, being a businessman myself, I respect that. I have a FP subscription and I am very happy with it. I have gotten in on several betas/demos because of it, so it is well worth the $5 a month or so.

Agreed.

Its as if he Googled DS2 and skimmed through the first 4 or 5 listings and wrote a quick preview 5 minutes before closing time.

You should seriously check out the demo before buying this one.

It is a terrible game.

Um hello dumbass. This post is about Warcraft III, you know, the RTS.

Before playing any more games you should learn to read. Reading is good! So log off AOL, stop playing CS and go find a book.

And please DO NOT go play WoW. There are already enough non-reading asstards ruining the game.

Not true 3D??

What kind of stupid baseless comment is that? It has one of the most powerful and detailed 3D engines of any RTS to date.

Before you make comments that make you look like an asswad, do a little googling.

There are already commercials and product placement in EA's games. Play NFS:U and Sims 2, you will see them all over the place. There was a news story several weeks ago discussing a marketing firm that sells advertising space in video games.

You can thank EA and corporate America for this. Reality TV has ruined television just as EA has ruined gaming, for the most part. Long live the independent studio.

"Note: They also did not think to print, Internet Connection Required to Play."

Actually, if you look at the system req's right on the box, it clearly states internet connection required.

I used to work with most of the guys that are now at Petroglyph. Trust me, if anyone can make a great game, it is these guys. Go to their page and check out their resume of games. It is staggering. www.petroglyphgames.com

No Shit? A MOB a minute per hour at equal level? Are you sure? It's just very hard to believe. Man, the last time I was able to just cruise and have fun solo'ing in an MMO was UO (Greater Healing Potions).

Does EB allow you to return MMO's in the same fashion as other non-MMO games? If I can truly go in, have some fun without having to sit on my ass for 20 minutes after every battle, then this game sounds good...

Are you sure it's just not certain classes that dominate and have no downtime, aka, 'Tanks' have more downtime then 'Ranged' avatars? Sorry, I just feel like something is missing and I'm trying to cover all the bases, cause if I go by this, create a 'tank' and have to sit 3/4 of the time I'll be very cranky.

Unlike most MMO games this is an action game, not a downtime game. It is action oriented and therefore they have made it in such a way that downtime is very limited.

Tankers and scrappers (melee) have very little downtime. I can usually kill 15 even cons before even stopping (usually from lack of endurance) with my tanker.

Blasters, Defenders and Controllers (ranged, healers and enchanters) have much less defense and hp. If you play them correctly (i.e at range) you will also have very little downtime.

Inspirations (one time use buffs and heals) are very easy to come by and will decrease your downtime even more. Grouping also eliminates downtime virtually altogether.

I was in a full group with tankers, blasters, a defender, and a controller. For 5 hours straight, I never stopped killing, never rested, and had one of the best MMO group experiences of my life. Other than running to the next gang to kill, it was non-stop action and fun.

Oh yeah, how is the downtime in CoH? At say level 30, if you solo, how many MOBS (at your level) can you face within 1 hour?

I would guess (highest I got was 23) about a mob a minute maybe. So my answer would be 60 in an hour.

I am in the beta as well. I agree with many of Plink's points.

This game is an action game, pure and simple. It's not about loot. You don't have to worry about killing 5000 guys to go buy some crappy gear that you need to replace in 2 levels. Leveling speed in a little above average for MMOs. Creating a character will be an all day process because of the ton of options and costume combos. The powers are varied and very cool. From claws and huge maces, to gravity control and psionics (you can actually lift someone up and throw them without even touching them).

The community is generally more mature than most, and people have always been willing to help me if I ask.

The main draw of this game for me in the immersive cityscape that you play in. So detailed and alive. Also, this is an easy game to play both casually (30 minutes is enough time to get your fix if in a rush) or hardcore.

Anyway, I could go on for days. If anyone has any questions, I will try to answer them to the best of my knowledge.

Um guys, to download and install the files, you NEED XP. Once installed, they can be shared with anyone, anywhere. So you AOL/Win98 users can still get the maps.

God, people cry about this gayest shit sometimes.

You know what's funny about this?

SOE is claiming that this is an MMO first, but Earth and Beyond introduced this a year ago. That was one of the best aspects of EnB for me.

SOE just waited until EnB died to steal their idea and annouce it.

Oh well.....such is PR.

The trial version allows two hours of gameplay in the full version of the game, which can be unlocked by purchasing an online key.

Maybe you should read more carefully. You are downloading the FULL game. Purchase a cd key and you can unlock the rest of the game.

Now that is a great way to ship a demo. I would like to see more of this in the future. Give us the full version, give us a taste, and, if we like it, purchase a key and play some more.

Yeah beta testers, give us the poop here. Screenshots and 15 second videos can only tell so much.

How is PvP? How cool/unique are the classes when playing them? Any cool treasure or epic monster encounters?

Edit: spelling
