I'm sure co-op is great and all but I think it is a little unfair to dismiss the game because they decided not to include it in the initial release. H&D still has one of the best single-player campaigns I've ever played.

I read a snippet in PCZone that said co-op for all single-player levels would be included in a later mission disc.

I never played co-op for the original H&D but after playing co-op in games like Raven Shield it is definitely a mode I would like to see in this game. Still, I can live without it since I'm sure the single-player will be great. But Vernon does say it won't be included in the initial release, this could indicate they may be willing to release a co-op mode in a later patch, perhaps?

Not a bad game. I completed it over a weekend though which is something I don't usually do. Even if a game is short I like to spread it out a bit, usually you can complete a level in under ten minutes or so but the difficulty of the game is a little inconsistent, you'll spend an hour retrying certain sections and then breeze through the next few levels in one attempt. There's also a pretty bad 'fleshy hive' section in the middle of the game, it's good before and after that though. A nice deviation, the combat is excellent, but I don't think I would've stayed with this for any length of time.

As I said the story and setting holds some interest, it's something new compared the usual recycled story in most RPG's, for this I don't think it should be dismissed too easily, though I'm certainly not saying this is up there with the best and it has definite flaws. The improved interface makes it playable which is why I mentioned this development, that reviewer, along with playing very little of the game obviously played with the older, more irksome control system, which I agree is dire and no one should be expected to play with.

Given that we Europeans have road tested it, much has been fixed in the patches, including the implementation of better controls and you're now able to change the resolution. So this should be fixed for the US version. Last time I played the game it was still troubled by slowdowns though.

I actually liked the game in terms of story, missions and the overall structure of the game. There were just too many technical issues.
