Is an indie developer going to have the funds to develop this kind of project and have the bandwidth to support their game/patches, 3rd party mods and potenially other companies games as well? No. Indie developers generally make a game and fade into obscurity (not always). So your arguement is irrelevant now isnt it.

Steam is seriously bad; Steam makes you a target and it opens your system to a lot more unpleasant things. And they make it clear that they cannot be held accountable.

Imagine if someone put a virus on one of the updates that you have no choice in declining, it installs with out you knowing ….now what? Steam isn’t accountable.

Well he certainly didn't take the time off to contribute to the market. And are you saying that it wasn’t because the source code was stolen?.... Nonsense ahaha. The very last thing Gabe wanted to do was release HL2 before Doom3, for strategic reasons (as I said in earlier post he is awfully shrewd) but luckily for his incompetence to release a game in any normal time frame HL2 was no where near the completion level of id’s Doom3. Enter source theft stage left.
Now a year later the game was supposed to be out we are still supposed to be shitting ourselves with glee over essentially the same game?

And those sparse little plant/bushes in those other screens made me laugh with disgust. I’ve seen S.T.A.L.K.E.R. screenshots well over a year old better then this..

The fact is there is no way HL2 can touch Doom3’s graphic prowess indoors, and from those screenshots of HL2 outdoors things are not looking so great…. Good but not great.

Lets not forget about Steam either; valve’s pride and joy. Before you install HL2 steam will have to be on your machine first ass raping it and doing whatever steam does best. I will not go into it anymore.

If you want an engrossing story, well your looking in the wrong place PC Games especially the FPS genre have characteristically bad storylines. They are always comprised of plot pieces from Bestselling fiction novels I’ve red ie. Cover-ups, something that was supposed to be good gone terribly wrong, etc. And ill admit Half-life was a Diamond in the rough (I bought it the week it came to my then local game store, before the mega BB’s...reminiscing). But the gamming scene now is hardly rough, im not going to list the games, being positive sure your C: Drive will give testament. Although there is segment of the PC Gaming industry that is rough and it’s led by Valve. First of all he is shrewd, and he gets away with too may things. He has over extended the wave of Half-Life by about 2 or 3 years. He all but promised the release of Half-Life 2 a year ago. And ushered in the era of steam-ish computer hoarding technology, which hurts everyone except his pockets….I foresee subscription for all and advertisements aplenty on steam’s horizon because I know its already in Valves’ eyes.


If being so concerned about being sucked in to a plot line then a book, because if a book doesn’t offer and interesting story it most likely wont be published.....
