Also isn't Games for Windows more about bringing xbox people to the PC, not the other way around?

No, this article actually mirrors what I have thought. I guess I should have written an article.

Microsoft's "help" isn't really helping PC gaming. Name one way that it is! It's not bringing Xbox gamers to PCs, the only difference they'll see is that they'll always lose to mouse+keyboard gamers. Maybe that's supposed to get them to buy PCs? I doubt it, MS would rather push the Xbox, which it fully controls, unlike the PC market.

MS Live? Nope. Xbox games for PCs? Definitely not. I would rather have PC-centric games, not dumbed-down console garbage like Halo 2 and Shadowrun.

What else? DX10? Yeah, thanks for making XP obsolete, MS. How about the game gallery in Vista? I'm sure kids appreciate being locked out of games by their clueless parents, and devs appreciate the fees MS charges to get a game licensed for Vista.

What Microsoft has done is split the PC gaming market between Vista and XP, and is promoting the very things that are *bad* for PC gaming, namely, dumb console ports. I hope developers don't fall for it.

Thanks for nothing, Microsoft.

If you spent half the time you do bitching about vista as you did setting up a dual boot, you would be done and playing this crap game.

No thanks. You can waste your life tweaking Vista and playing this crap game, the rest of us have better things to waste our lives and our $60 on.

$60 for a glorified Counterstrike mod that requires Vista for no reason other than MS marketing.

Let me emphasize again, THERE IS NO TECHNICAL REASON FOR THIS GAME TO BE VISTA-ONLY. Just as there was none for Halo 2. Are you seeing a trend here?

I'll install Vista when there's good reason to, and this game ain't it.

As for me, the idea has some merit and I am interested to see what they make of it.

I believe that people are cynical because the success rate of such crossover projects has been about 1%.

Besides, how good do you think a movie about Ninjas fighting Yakuza is really going to be? You know, all they forgot is the pirates.

I suspect this is going to wind up in the same place as Michael Bay's game project.

Morning Q&As with Losers.

So, Jerry, how many millions do you expect to lose on your "video game"?

Wait, Jerry, one more question. Is it true that you got the nickname 'Boom Boom' in prison?

And now, a word from our sponsors.

Hi, my name is Bill Gates. I'd like to tell you a little about Microsoft's exciting new portable gaming console, the Microsoft Pii. You can take a Pii anywhere, and with Microsoft's amazing wi-fi technology you and a friend can Pii together at the same time! It's so easy that even your grandmother can do it.

Microsoft Pii - where do you want to "go" today?

but frees up the CPU to perform other tasks like physics or AI.

Something which no game really seems to take advantage of because publishers require crapified console ports of it.

At least Valve has the ability to take advantage of it, but if it's going to run on the Xbox# or the PS#, it's going to have to cater to the lowest common denominator.

I REALLY am starting to dislike consoles. My finely-tuned, overpowered PC hardware is going to waste because of some damned Xbox-twiddling fool.

The Lord of the Rings franchise, with its incredibly rich history and extensive fan base, lends itself perfectly to the MMO genre

So what's the difference between a D&D/WoW elf and Tolkien elf? How about hobbits and halflings?

Strange how they didn't really mention any major "game makers" that were supposedly so excited about Vista. I have yet to hear of any except those being directly funded by MS for some Xbox crossover project.

I know some are excited about DX10 hardware, others say it's not that revolutionary and DX9 still has a long way to go.

All *I* know is that Vista sucks ass and I hope to delay switching as long as possible.

It would be cheaper to go to a strip club. The E4All booth babes don't even go topless, what's the point?

Oh I get it, the little kids can't get into a strip club, so this is their chance to see some strippers dressed up in spandex anime costumes.

Games? What games? 90% of the time they won't let you near them to play them, or you have to wait an hour in line.

Let me emphasize again: $45!

what Valve has described as its very own 'Two Towers', before the 'Return of the King' finale with Episode Three.

Or will it be more like that other episodic, dramatic masterwork that starred Christopher Lee? Police Academy: Mission to Moscow!

dozens of new feats and spells; new races, base classes and prestige classes

That's actually something I didn't want.

I don't want to be some quasi-Human, purple-skinned, glowing-eyed, Orc-Elf-Demigod who arrived on Earth inside a meteor (which is actually a remnant of the body of Xenu), Dragonslayer-Gunsliging Ninja-Juggler in the secret guild of the Burning Moon that gives me telekinetic toilet flushing powers once a day that I won't actually use for anything meaningful in the game.

Can I make this any more clear?

What about the games industry? So much for DX10.

Unless ofcourse MS stops bullshitting us all and ports it to XP.

Yes, I know, there is always OpenGL, but all the kids these days only know DX?

There is one scene with a machinegunner firing from inside a building in the cinematic.

ToW doesn't have accessible buildings.

Very disappointing. Very, very disappointing.

Isn't that color tinting a little too melodramatic for a WW2 game? It looks like Warhammer 40K, on some alien planet.

Infantry can't enter buildings or fortifications in this game, which is unacceptable for a WW2 game that depicts historical battles in which buildings played a key role.

They could have easily faked it, the way games like Sudden Strike did, but instead they got stingy and now this game is going to suck.

Bioware was always just a watered-down Black Isle anyway.

*hides*

Tell me how any of these RPGs are fundamentally different from Fallout? It's the same game. You could remake KOTOR II, or NWN2 in the Fallout engine and not miss anything, gameplay-wise. Not a single thing! The only change has been the graphics.

Mass Effect seems to be different, we'll see...
