All consoles have going for them is a lower price, and that they are free of technical hassles. Upcoming PC hardware is far more powerful than any of the consoles. The Xbox360 may seem powerful now but compare it to upcoming dual-core CPUs, DX10 graphics cards, HDaudio sound cards, and various other improvements to PC architecture. Just think back to the original Xbox and how powerful it seemed--and how PCs surpassed it.

We get the same story every time, except this time it may be that the new consoles haven't provided enough to survive what PCs will soon offer. Gamers want improved AI, mass multiplayer, moddability, and QUALITY games with depth, not just fancy graphics. It may be that we should start asking if consoles are dead.

LOL. I was going to ask the same thing. I tried to find some, but all the ones listed on Ubi's page are 404 or have like one model to show for their progress.

He'll struggle with the boundaries between good and evil in his quest to regain his rightful place as ruler of Babylon.

Since when is a Persian the rightful ruler of Babylon? Persia = Iran, Babylon = Iraq. Why isn't he simply ruler of Persia? ;p

Ok, so Romero sucks on his own, and Carmack sucks on his own.

Can someone tell me who was REALLY responsible for Doom1, Doom2, and Quake1? I've been wondering for years now

Satan?

Is Nvidia running out of names, or what? GeForce and nForce made some sense, they were a pun. What the hell is a TForce?

I think GTA did it right. Leave the adult stuff in, but only give access to it to those adult enough to know how to unlock it. Any child that figures out how to do that is old enough to know what it is he's doing! The little bastard should be locked up!

Other than that, nothing will stop a sicko from doing whatever their mental illness makes them do. If it's not violence in games, it'll be something else morbid that will inspire them. Like maybe watching how our politicians behave.

Cash was available from regional bodies and in the form of tax breaks, but few took advantage of these, said Toby Barnes of the Pixel-Lab think tank.

At the Games Developers Conference Europe in London, he said these funds could help get new ideas going.

The UK has a reputation as a games powerhouse but rising costs have meant many studios have closed.

Korea probably spends the most government funds on game development support. How about some incentives in America besides for games promoting army recruitment? I guess we spent all our spare funds on killing Iraqis.

A better question to ask is hasn't Call of Cthulhu been doing this for years?

Exactly. And how you can patent something like this to begin with, I don't know. All the giant corporations lately seem to be losing their minds. Greedy bunch of bastards. Microsoft, AOL, Time Warner, Enron/Halliburton, Sony, EA, etc. When is this crap going to end?

One of these days, I'm going to have to actually see a Uwe Boll movie so I can participate in the mass stoning.

Just imagine non-stop, poorly-filmed fighting sequences, strobe lights, MTV-style ADD editing, bad CGI, bad story made using an online random story wizard, bad direction (perhaps a complete lack of it), and bad acting, all wrapped up with a suitably mediocre "hard-rock" or "techno" soundtrack and you have a Uwe Boll masterpiece.

Uwe Boll is what would happen if everything that is bad about Hollywood, the game industry, and music industry could be condensed into a single human being.

What I don't understand is how he keeps getting more funding for more horrible movies. If all those millions were used on a single game, we might actually get something good made.

The ranks are broken, permanently. They had been compromised early on by cheaters and EA did nothing about it except boot the first few at the top. What about the 100,000 others?

Good article about story development in games. It's amazing how many developers have no clue about it.

Sadly, even if they did, most publishers will ruin any good story aspects of a game and always go for the easiest way out. They don't give developers a chance to do anything good.

It took independent developers with clout like Bioware to get anything good done storywise. Can you imagine trying to convince a publisher that having all that dialogue and character interaction is necessary for the game to succeed? The publisher will say "We want a simpler game, more action-oriented, that can be done sooner. GTA didn't have so much dialog, and look how well that did!"

Yeah, great, except we weren't trying to make GTA.

Warfare is a real-time strategy with elements of global planning. The game is set on the territory of Saudi Arabia. Here four enemy forces, the Saudi royal family, the USA army expeditionary corps, the Taliban movement supporters and Arabian rebels fight for the right to rule the country. Two of them, that is - the USA army expeditionary corps and the Arabian rebels army, are open to be chosen by the player.

That's some wacky alternate history!

Commander Keen - 10/10

Commander Keen was derivative crap compared to the ground-breaking platform games available on the Amiga at the time. Turrican, Gods, the Psygnosis games, etc. True, some of that was the hardware's fault--PCs were still 16-color, low res wordprocessors and calculators back then, compared to 4096 color multimedia Amigas--but the design of the game itself wasn't anything special. It was a demonstration of Carmack's programming abilities and not much of a game. I suppose you could also consider the budget they were working with, but still, it was crap compared to those Amiga games.

I notice they have flashlights on their guns. And the gun itself looks like a super-soaker.

The movie looks truly pitiful, it is an example of everything that is wrong with Hollywood. It has absolutely no relation to Doom whatsoever, it looks like a generic made-for-video scifi movie. No, actually, it looks even worse. It looks like a generic made-for-video scifi movie from Turkey. It may be even worse than that, because those Turkish scifi movies are at least funny. Ok, I guess this movie has no redeeming qualities whatsoever.

If I was the Rock, I'd sue them to stop its release.

Is Steven Segal going to play Max Payne? Will they still have those drugged-up zombies from the lab level? What about the dream sequences?

Holy shit, this movie is gonna suck real bad!
