Another giant clusterfuck summer extravanganza. Highly anticipated -- like the Bird Flu. How many millions will Fox lose on this because it sucks and then blame it on piracy? I hope VU considers using Starforce for this release. LOL.

Btw, apparently this book was written by a seventeen year old? If so, I can see their reasoning for making this game. It will fail miserably.

And he is openly critical of Electronic Arts, a competitor, for not being able to deliver its Godfather video game to consumers on time. "It is absolutely a sin," he proclaimed.

Is that why Lucasarts nearly killed KOTOR II with cutbacks, just to ship on time? No wonder Lucasarts continues to ship uninspired knockoffs.

It's better to delay a game than ship an unfinished POS. Ofcourse Jim Ward and the EA execs both don't realize that a game like Godfather will never be good no matter what you do to it. And slapping the Star Wars name on a poorly-disguised knockoff of other franchises like BF2 doesn't mean it will sell either. Console tards who will buy anything new not included.

And what a surprise that Jim Ward is an ex-MS employee. LOL.

AGEIA = Another Greatly Exaggerated Inane Adaptor?

$200-300 for a physics card? Get the f*** out of here!

Big mistake. What Russian gamers are going to buy Ageia cards for an extra $200 when they pirate half their games? What gamers ANYWHERE are going to pay that much? Especially when Nvidia plans to add physics support on future GPUs for nearly free? Or dual-core CPUs, which can do the same?

Ageia needs to drop prices down to about $25 if they want anyone to buy their card.

Alienware laptops are rebranded from the same company that supplies Sager with laptops. Take a look:

Alienware's

Sager's

Sager also now has a model with 19" screen! Watch Alienware release the same thing in a few months...

That Cell Factor movie is pretty good.

If it requires a PhysX card to get those effects, forget it!

They should cancel it, if the preview they showed is anything like the final version of the game.

I'm too busy playing Oblivion to download this patch. I've had enough of all these BF2 patches for now.

Designing games for accelerated and non-accelerated graphics was one thing but how do you make a game that will play the same with and/or without hardware assisted physics.

You set a basic acceptable level for the core gameplay features. Reduce the number of objects being simulated or their detail. Use less precision when it's not needed.

I'm sure there are other ways.

Since when did this site become a pessimist spitbox? Jesus, one would think enthusiast gamers would be welcoming any potentially revolutionary innovations with open arms and high hopes. Or have your minds and tastes been irreversibly poisoned by World of Warcraft? What do you have to gain by being a detractor of this idea? You'd prefer this fail just so you can save a few hundred bucks? Pffft.

No, we prefer Havok.

http://havok.com/

Feel free to play with Ageia's $200 paperweight if you want to. Maybe load some Starforce on it so it blows up. That would be an interesting physics demonstration.

No way in hell should ANYONE have to pay $200 for a god-damned co-processor that could be simulated by a dual-core CPU, or by GPU as Nvidia has done with Havok. The only thing it is good for is consoles--too bad it costs about as much as one!

You can't patch this piece of crap. CoD2 had less features and more primitive gameplay than CoD!

And remember the claims of non-linearity? Wow, instead of one alley, you now have a choice of three alleys to choose from!

The engine too, was NOT new, but a Q3 clone with some shader effects. They made a supposedly "new" engine for this?

I hope there is a serious game coming from Infinity Ward in the future, otherwise it's all over for them. What they pulled with CoD2 is unacceptable.

Linux is never going to be a mainstream option until:

1. Adobe ports its apps.

2. The top Windows games are ported over on a regular basis. And I don't mean ones from five years ago!

3. That whole weird swap disk partitation thing is sorted out and installation is simplified.

-Here's a hint. You hate starforce? Get the crack. Simple. Stop bitching about it

Cracks don't help with the problems Starforce causes. You still have to infect your system with it prior to using a crack. I don't want that junk messing with my registry and hardware config AT ALL. Starforce has numerous documented problems and I will not buy (or download) any game that uses it. It is not worth it.

And I bet the gameplay will probably be 5 times better than Quake 4.

It's not as easy to make compelling singleplayer games as it is to make multiplayer ones. You'd be surprised at how little multiplayer mappers know about singleplayer design. It's a different skillset and frame of mind.

One is like making an arena, the other is like making a theme park ride combined with writing a novel and filming a movie.

Quake 4 was a predictable, unimaginative game, but it was "painfully competent" as someone once said. There were no amateurish elements you find in so many singleplayer FPSes made by developers coming from other genres.

Dunno about the quality of the game, but for future reference, I never wanted to play solely as the dwarves or goblins.
