For MS to extort gamers into buying Vista.

I think the satirical element, the pigs revolting, is lost on the average gamer.

http://www.online-literature.com/orwell/animalfarm/

It is a strange concept for a game though. Satire only goes so far, they better have the gameplay to back it up.

Edit: It seems Zoomboy27 did actually catch it. Maybe there is still hope for the world.

Please also note that if you are experiencing CTD issues upon start up that any alternate-ranking redirections in your windows "Hosts" file must be removed.

So much for ranked mods. I'm glad I didn't start one for this game. Must remember: never trust EA, or Microsoft.

Quake Wars can't come soon enough!

I hope that Armed Assault makes it to release too. 200 player multiplayer, w/o the EA!

I hope that Tulga has left enough money for a legal defense fund, White Wolf is going to go apeshit over them ripping of their World of Darkness IP.

Bingo. Not to mention a dozen other IPs.

Ballmer talks up bullet-proof Vista security

It might be bulletproof, but it's not bugproof. Who cares about the bullets?

And it was designed by monkeys.

They let 12 million Mexicans walk in right under their noses. Along with about 10,000 Al Qaedas, cannibal Chechens and Sudanese rape squads. The next 9/11 is coming soon, and it's going to be in your backyard!

Governments have outsourced military operations to private multinational corporations. As Jake Carpenter, a newly enlisted soldier in the Mantel army, you are seeking fulfillment and thrills by fighting for a good cause.

Is Halliburton funding this game, or what?

Fulfillment AKA $$$.
Thrills AKA imported underage Thai hookers and coke.

That's the real world of PMCs. Look up "Dyncorp slave trade".

Good:
Alan Wake
Crysis
FS X (it will never go away)

Iffy:
Hellgate
Conan

Lame attempt to sell Vista:
Halo Pt. Deux

Crap:
Shadowrun (what they have there is NOT Shadowrun!)
Company of Heroes (unrealistic cartoony crap)
Xbox 360(TM)

The balance of this game is so screwed up, it doesn't matter what they do with the squads.

Haven't they run out of WW2 movies to rip off yet? They did all the good ones already. At this point they're left with SS Doomtrooper, 1941 and Top Secret.

That's right, CoD3 is going to be the world's first WW2 comedy-musical zombie Nazi adventure for consoles. At some point there will also be a set-piece battle featuring Ninjas and pirates.

PC gaming isn't dead and will never die. But PCs aren't going to really be the same monolithic PCs we're so used to. The future PC will not be stuck with a single OS and will continue to shrink in size and become more modular. Look at what Apple has already done with Boot Camp.

There may even be a point where consoles become indistinguishable from PCs, except in price. Or a console may become just another PC peripheral. I don't see how consoles will be able to compete with PCs because of the shrinking cost-performance gap between the two. Consoles are being sold at a loss already.

Oh, and Raph Koster talks too much.

"I wanted to do something culturally significant, wanted to create a real pop-culture moment," said Marc Ecko of Marc Ecko Enterprises

He's back with his graffiti propaganda again. Yeah, graffiti is going to save the world. What a jackass.

These days, real activists are making websites, not writing on walls--or evil tyrants' airplanes.

I don't like the enemies. I don't like how the characters and technology looks. What's that Hummer doing in space? I would have figured they'd have better technology by then. Maybe Donald Rumsfeld is still running things by the time of the Fourth Reich?

Seems to me like Warhammer 40K minus the coolness. Another minus for using Ageia instead of Havok.

Is next...

I hope these guys crush BSOD2042. They deserve it after EA/DICE stole their ideas and fired them.

and it's all from the very creative minds of an elite team with a proven track record of success.

LOL, I love marketing talk.

Oblivion's Missing Physics…

More self-promotional FUD from Aegia. Everything they describe can either be accomplished by other means in software, or is the result of Oblivion's engine in general being somewhat of a mess (to put it mildly).

Btw, $200 for a physics co-processor? Hell no! What are you smoking, Ageia?

Trusting your security to MS is like trusting it to George Bush. Check those wide open borders. With Vista firewall, you'll have illegal Mexicans invading your PC in no time.

Heh, yea Vista is sposed to be 'for gamers' but it's definately looking like a lumbering beasts just like XP.

I wonder if the 'next mediaplayer' will have as much overhead and suck up memory like it's going out of style too!?!?

XP is faster on the same hardware than Vista. You'll have to upgrade to DX10 hardware to make Vista run as advertized.

Ever OS released by MS has had larger requirements than the previous release. They look to hardware upgrades to mask the poor performance caused by all the added new bloat and bugs.

You get a brand new DX10 GPU and they claim Windows is now faster. I wonder why they don't want to release DX10 on XP. Maybe because you'd see the same gains in XP with a DX10 card? And ofcourse, because they want to force people to buy Vista.
