I don't buy FULL-PRICED games with ads.

There is no justification for ads in BF2142.

EA should be sanctioned by the UN Security Council.

Here's my review:

It's a hastily-made $50 mod with ads. I'll Wait for Quake Wars, while Gamespot and the rest of the oblivious "professional" reviewers enjoy infecting themselves with this spyware.

I'm not going to pay FULL PRICE for a game that serves up ads. It's not even a big-budget game. What's the justification for the ads?

EA thinks it can treat gamers like crackwhores. Sadly, EA is probably right.

I think America has much worse things to worry about than this.

And don't you just love how they use the example of one imbecile crackhead to claim that ALL gamers are prone to this behavior?

They used to do this with Jazz, then Rock & Roll, then Metal, then Hip Hop, and now it's games. The lawyers and politicians involved in this should be run over with a bus. But they would blame that on GTA, wouldn't they?

I don't remember having to pay for Trade Wars. The sysops usually paid for it, or ran a cracked copy.

The same thing that's wrong with Hollywood. The corporate morons think bigger = better. And they fear originality because they have no way to predict how people will react to it.

Sometimes, you have to take a chance. Maybe you'll fail the first ten times, but on the 11th, you'll create a masterpiece.

That doesn't make any business sense though, so we'll keep getting shitty games.

That would be a nice mid-range card for AGP until the big upgrade to DX10, Vista, SATA, HD DVD, etc.

What's this, EA flogging another dead franchise? Too bad they're able to get away with it, and then we don't get any original games made.

Couldn't log in for some reason.

Atari thinks a little to highly of themselves. Requiring registration to see the game's site really isn't the best way to promote a game!

Since gamers are all being forced to get dual core CPUs, who's going to need PhysX? Maybe a PhysX card has a minor advantage at some tasks, but for $300? No way. I can do without wavey cloth and physically accurate water particle simulations.

Gabe Newell complains about Hollywood's treatment of HL? Maybe he should consider what he's offered them. Take Alyx for instance. She's right out of a Uwe Boll movie. A scientist, knows martial arts, mountain climbs, is an elite marksman--and looks like a stripper.

Gordon Freeman is a likeable, believable character because he has his superhero suit but he himself lacks any superhero powers. Alyx is a marketing gimmick and lacks all credibility.

The other characters basically serve as comic relief. That works for the game, but it doesn't do much for plot development. What are you going to do, have a scene with Barney screaming "Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!" after he finds out his girlfriend was eaten by zombies? Or one of those cannonfodder soldiers give a patriotic speech about duty and honor before they rush in to attack a giant green and purple spotted tentacle?

Oblivion seems to me like the same game Bethesda has been making for years. It was pretty much exactly what I expected. It's got the same been-there-done-that quality that Quake 4 and Doom 3 had, and HL2:EP1 has today.

I think there are going to have to be games made for older gamers, because while kids growing up who haven't seen any of this before might be amazed, the rest of us are pretty bored with the same old game mechanics and mediocre, predictable settings.
