It may be stupid, cliched and appeal to the lowest common denominator, but that doesn't mean it can't be fun. I tried the demo for the first one, and I'll at least try the demo for this one. Something fast and fun until Half Life 2 gets released.

The issue here is who is profiting from all the crunch-time, lack of pay and so forth.

And the answer is: not the people who do the actual work, or slave away at long hours, its the fucking management. People who, almost by definition, contribute nothing substantial, who are the least crucial part of any team, and who reap all the rewards.

What bothers me is that if most game devs are treated this way, why don't they just make their own company, and leave EA & Co to wither away. I mean, if everyone in the industry is getting shafted, thats power in numbers right there.

Take EA for every fucking cent they've got, thats my advice.

The real heros of the industry are the devs who make the games we love, not asshole managers who cancel games, fire developers, stifle innovation and run companies into the ground, just to suff their own pockets.

This is especially true of EA.

insert obligatory bitching about bitching about obligatory troll post here____________.

That said, I've noticed a lot of war-related games recently that border on indoctrination, this being one the them.

"The gaming community could actually use a rallying event like this. I would definately contribute $ to help them defend if it went to court. Even the fucks who pirate games can't ignore the impact this would have."

Check out the name of the denfendants. All the big name game publishers are there. Somehow, I don't think they'll be short on money.

Displaying 3D images on a monitor?

Get fucking serious.

On the other hand, if they manage to win, they'll be rolling in dough not only from royalties for every game made in the past 5-7 years, but they can also take the movies industry to court.

What a joke, though. Shit, what's next, someone patenting breathing?

HalfLife 2, Halo 2, World of Warcraft, Everquest 2 and probably some other important console games shipping which I don't know about...all within 2 weeks of each other.

dereksmart! dereksmart! dereksmart!

its only a matter of time now.

edit: actually, if those are ingame, they look quite decent. Detailed models and nice lighting (the cockpit screenshots).

mittens: actually, Pariah is being developed by Digital Extremes, the same guys who did both UT2K3 and UT2K4. Epic just provides the engine, sort of like id does for Raven and Valve does (did) for Gearbox.

and for everyone who is wondering, there are several levels after the tutorial, so no, its not 500 megs just so you can kill zombies over and over.

Follow the onscreen instructions, and you can finish the tutorial level in like 5 minutes.

why don't they just call it Bloodrayne Gaiden and be done with it?

Half-naked vampire chicks? Matrix moves? Slow-mo deaths?
I don't know what that is, but PoP it ain't.

Now just to make it clear, I have nothing against making Warrior Within darker. The concept art made me smile, same as everyone else. What I do have a problem with is how they went about making it darker.

Oh, oh! Look, he said "bitch", thats so amazingly awesome!
Wow, that game is so much darker and cooler now, cause he said bitch. And, uhmm, he's all scary and brooding!

And whats with the Prince acting like Neo all of a sudden? At least Sands of Time wasn't so over the top. I'm playing through Sands of Time right now (about 95% done), and there is a noticeable increase is stupid action moves that will surely be a big sell with 14 year old Xbox owners.

The game showed so much potential, and I will no doubt pick it up upon release, but the demo doesn't really instill me with confidence about the way they handled the character and setting (and, er, gameplay.)

the nation, and the world, needs an informed electorate. The rest takes care of itself.

A vote by ignorant citizens as just margnally better than no vote at all.

DDI: Thats bullshit and you know it. Double standard-ahoy.
I fully agree that people need to be much better informed about politics, but that goes for everyone, not just emo-grants.

Actualy, there's some screenshots posted on Worthplaying (link over at Voodoo Extreme) and one of the screenshots is a character model that looks very, very good. Like approaching Doom3 quality. All the rest are so-so (or, teh suck, depending on whether you want to give them the benefit of the doubt), but this one screenshot, and it loks ingame to me, is really quite good.

Check it out.

I'm willing to cut the devs some slack on this one, if they can deliver a compleling gameplay experience, the graphics can afford to look a bit dated. After all, not every game has a HalfLife 2 sized budget. Its absurd to judge a game on graphics alone, and somehow I think that these screenshots are not representative of the final quality.

good enough

I would have prefered SS3, I think everyone would have, including Irrational, but since bastard publishers have to be such pricks about it, at least we're getting a new and hopefully cool universe. I think that, as always, Irrational will pull it off with flying colours.

The screenshot looks very nice, as long as the game is released within the next year or so. It around the level of Doom 3 quality, or so it seems to me. The game descriptions also sounds very cool.

Way to go Irrational...

Balkans representin' yo!

Though in all honesty, the game description sounds awfully cliched. We'll see what becomes of this, something good I hope.

Get ready world, the artist formerly known as Yugoslavia is out to conquer the world.

First phase of attack:
Have a barbeqcue, drink alot and disagree with everyone in your immediate vicinity.

Yesss, I can see it all so clearly. The world will fall before my might.
