You have no idea how much restraint its taking for me not to make a thousand jokes about this game. Not that I think the game will be bad, mind you, but rather on the real-life crap that the game is based on.

All these bugs and crashes make me feel slighty less bad about no being able to play it, on account of my graphics card.

Thanks guys, you misery has lessened my own.

True, but then again Grand Theft Auto takes place in a civlian setting. Take GTA3, replace the characters, and make all the NPCs Arabs, and then you'll have yourself a wargame you can be proud of.

However, I have yet to see a single wargame implement any sort of looting system. Whats the point of modelling advanced AI and realistic maps, when you can't even get the basics right. A simple system, like the one used way back in Doom would suffice. At the end of the level, you get the total number of money that was stealable, and then a score on how much of it you were able to get. I would think that this would be a no brainer.

I hope I get to kill me some civilians. If they're shooting for realism, its the little touches that make or break it. Sure, we've had squad based games before, sure we've had realsitic vehicles and weapons, but how many game can you name in which you get open fire on children throwing stones? Innovtion, thats the key.

You know, Splinter Cell was very unique in that the sheer quality of the game was enough for me to look past the shallow "U.S. ROXXORS TEH FREE WRLD" plotline and near non-existant character depth. I suspect that Pandora will be the same.

What the Spinter Cell franchise would be with Deus Ex like plotline, moral depth and character development, I can only dream of.

Bah. The Army doesn't need to develop games. They've got their yes-man bitches to do it for them. Just look at Kuma War.

Actual mission include killing Saddam's sons and capturing Saddam. Oh how fun it will be. Stand their with a 100 other guys and 10 tanks, shooting the shit out of a building for like and hour, with 2 guys and a kid inside. Then when the smoke clears go in to check that they're good and dead. The heroism, it just brings a tear to my eye.

And what about capturing Saddam? You, yes YOU can be the man to go capture Saddam. Except well, the Kurds sort of handed him over. And he put up no resistance. But, nevertheless, I'm sure you'll get a few medals for that one.

And just you try to annex Canada. Just try. You've got no idea how powerful we really are. Everything you think you know about Canadians, its just a front. We've got an entire army...hiding underground. Just try it.

I hear they're also doing a golf game, where you can choose from dozens of authentic Army golf course. Of course, you'll be able to craft your own General using a wide variety of customization features. The game will even feature authentic army speak such as "grunt", "mess hall" and "towel-head".

People will be rushing to the recruitment offices. Rushing I tell you. I think the Army is gonna need more personnel to handle the inevitable stampede of recruits.

Ok, something really wierd is happening..

When I run game, it runs like its in slow motion. I mean, its not the framerate or anything, its just that the whole package (walk speed, turning speed, weapon firing/reloading) is running very slowly. From what I know, this is a fast paced Serious Sam type game, I suspect that something is wrong. Though sometimes, the game speeds up a little (maybe 3/4 speed instead of 1/2). However, this only lasts a few seconds.

The game settings all look normal, there's not "make things run slowly" box checked anywhere:):)

The only thing that I can think of, is that in the level choice screen, where it says "Go to Black Tarot deck", there is a tarot card (on the level selection screen, not on the card screen) that says "Haste". Maybe this is causing it?

So, there you have it. Any advice?

No no no. You need someone who can actually act.

My pick would be Val Kilmer or James Franco. They've eached played a whole slew of "dark" characters, and they both look the part. What is it with these Hollywood fuckers, picking THE single worst person to play the part. Though admitedly, I've never played the first 2 Thief games. I intend to play Thief 3 though.

And get whoever directed Brotherhood of the Wolf to direct it. Hell, get the whole crew onboard. Effects, cinematography, costumes, it was all amazing.

Tell me that "style" wouldn't be perfect for Theif. C'mon tell me.

A song about rebellion used to sell over-priced sugar water?
Joe Strummer must be spinning in his grave.

And oooh, Pepsi payed like what, a few thousand, so that they could prominently feature these kids in their commercial, finally freed from the oppressive clutches of the Man. Its just a publicity stunt, but everyone seems to be buying into it.

Soccer moms, how I hate thee.

The pedophilic orange-alert boogeyman in lurking just around the corner, and he comes with a crack pipe and gang colours to boot.

Most of America's problems, or atleast many of the things I consider problems, can be traced back to these types of people.

Bigass SUV. Driving their kids to soccer practice. OMIGOD, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez broke up. CRISIS TIME! No, wait, GOSSIP TIME! No swear words for you young man! Your 12 minutes of daily Internet time are up. Seeing naked boobies will turn you into a terrorist. Take your daily dose of Vitamin B,C,F,A,E and some Ritalin. Right after you finish you Triple-Decker Big Mac. Sweetie.

Hell yeah. The Russians are getting very good at making games. The graphics almost always rock and many of the games are showing the type of originality lacking in the North American market.

Oh and, not to mention that the Russians are like gods when it comes to warez and hacking. You've got no idea how much warez various Russians have provided me with...

...probably shouldn't have said that.....

ps: I like the Rule of Law website. Huge bipedal robot rats wearing jerseys....yes please.

Yay! More useless spending of money! I love this guy, really, I do.

For the money used to fund the mission to Mars, the world could be made a much better place. In the US alone, it could considerably raise the standard of living, which is still on average ridiculously high compared to the rest of the world. The money could be used to fund a universal health-care system, like the one used here in Canada. It could be used on education, to ensure that American students are not by and large considered to be among the stupidest on Earth. The list goes on folks.

But, no. Instead, to get himself re-elected, Bush needs to present a "big idea" to the American citizenry. Some huge undertaking that will fill their hearts with partiotism and make them think that "We're Number 1 !!". This is it. Quite aside from the science of it all, this is essentially a multi-billion re-election stunt, payed for by the tax dollars of the American people.

The implication here is that the American people would rather have bragging rights that serve no real purpose, than an actual improvement in quality of life. Not only for themselves, but the rest of the world as well. Thats what you're supporting if you support this move, just to clarify that. The case could be made that the scientific discoveries that are to be made, both as the technology used to make possble such a mission as well as the discoveries on Mars, is a worthy goal, and I do agree with that. Its just that scientific for the sake of science is pretty far down my list of priorities when the situation here on Earth is so dire. Were the world living in wealth and health, I would be the first to support such an undertaking as the exploration of space. But its not, and the fact that its not is of greater importance than some, relatively speaking, useless scientific discovery.

____

On a slightly different matter, I simply can not let the comments made here about welfare go without an arguement. Do you honestly believe that the majority, or evena significant portion, if those recieveing welfare are lazy crack addicts that are popping out kids for the sheer hell of it? If the answer is yes, than please start punching yourself in the face right now until you get the stupid beat out of you. Its a complete lie that the people on welfare are quite capable of improving their situation, they just don't want to. Most people on welfare are much harder working than your average middle class o upper class Joe. They work 2 jobs to stay afloat. They have to struggle through life because they were never given the chance to be anything better (at least, not nearly as good a chance as those who are wealthier). To write these people off as lazy is to morally excuse the fact that they continue to live in such a state when the means to help them are readily available.
