First the Hello Kitty Massive online game then this piece of trash. The final seal will be broken soon. Please watch for falling frogs and locust swarms.

THIS EXPANSION ROCKS!! Everyone pre-order it now!

Thank you so much for your insight and obvious industrial insider knowledge about this game which isn't out yet. Plus your marketing strategy would make Coca-Cola stand up and take notice.

Finally, welcome to the Internet, everyone at Bluesnews is so glad you took the time to figure out your father's email address and password to post here.

F'in g'damn Roman Senate. I'm chugging along pretty good and have most of Europe in my clutches (save for the British Isles). So my popularity is through the roof and the Senate starts saying, "Yeah, your leader needs to kill himself for the good of the Empire." Screw you Senate, we're going to war! I do that then about 6 provinces rebel and I'm basically screwed. Damn squalor.

Restarting now. And it'd be nice if there was a way during the battles to not have those units which can throw a few spears before charging to not throw the spears but rather just get in there and go to the decapitating.

I'm not sure about CoD but at least in RtCW and ET you can set a max rate of data transfer so it sorta levels out everything and doesn't allow the entire bandwidth used for hosting uses all the line.

Personally, I pretty easily ran a dedicated RtCW/ET hosting 20-24 players on a T1 line with an Athlon XP 1700+. Sure the memory went a bit crazy but all in all it was a pretty smooth experience.

CoD's net code however might be a bit more sloppy so who knows.

Woops. My bad. I misused the words and meant to expand on his argument by providing another thought. I grovel towards you Quboid and beg for your forum oversight committee to forgive me.

I have found that if I could spy on the units ahead of time, discover their strength and numbers and counter with the appropriate units it was a bit easy to win on the final tactical level. Which, as Creston said, is also important.

Creston hit the nail on the head. Every battle's outcome, just like the Sun Tzu stuff said, is determined before the battle actually begins. If you go into battle with just hundreds of archers and the other guy has heavy horses, then just go home and retreat.

This isn't an RTS where you can just outbuild everything and it's not a squad based tactical where one mission doesn't have much to do with another.

Yes, there's my "fanboy" rant. While the full 3D graphics are nice I didn't mind the 2D sprites for units. For some reason they just moved smoother in marching but the initial sight of horses smashing into infantry has now made me a convert.

That and the lame camera they stuck into it without the ability to change keys or play Rome(when the game is called Rome) just seems lame.

Go into options and in the camera section you can change the layout of the keys. There's even one labelled.. wait for it...

FIRST PERSON SHOOTER KEYS or something like that.

OMG!!!

I don't think it's possible to make a FPS now and label it SP, we all expect both SP and good MP from our FPS, I think ID just tried the old cop out trick and it did not work. Just fooking lazy programming if you ask me, HL2 is mainly a SP game but I bet it has cool MP.

Carmack should spend less time shagging men and making rockets and try finishing programming his products.

FourPak
Having not played many 3d RPG games I can't say for sure.
The last RPG I played was Knights of Old Republic and it's textures and scenery is about half of what I've seen in Doom 3 (roughly, admittedly I haven't been counting textures on the screen.. hah).

With Doom 3 is is that there is just a LOT MORE 3D textures than other shooter I've seen. Wolfenstein has them sporadically in the game and so does FarCry. But in Doom3, everywhere you turn is just layers and layers of textures. And the variation of the textures (pipes, walls, animated interfaces, moving consoles, floor appearance, ceiling appearance, surface features, etc etc) are just damn impressive to me.

super secret text to follow:
Don't really know what to tell you. I followed the suggestion posted the other day by hitting the things with lights, normally when they're in a group. Once that happened, I fired a few rockets at the sphere and after 2-3 volleys of this, the big monster went down. I played on "Marine" and this worked.

Enough with the music!! Dammit I'm not going to play the music. I swear now that the first thing I do once the game is installed is go into the options and turn off the music. No music. None!! I'll never hear a single chord of in-game music. In fact, does the installer give me the option of not installing it. Please let it...
