I cant belive no one has mentioned the best bonus about moving from CRT to LCD... the space! All of a sudden you have a desk again. Coke cans no longer sit dangerously next to the mouse but roam free on grassy plains between you keyboard and the LCD monitor on the horizon.

Stringer's comment is being taken out of context, it was in reply to Jobs saying the record industry executives are greedy.

I have to agree with Webdemon, this is a terrible terrible game.... unless it retails for $10, then it might be worth it. Also, webdemon, you forgot to mention that it has no AI, so the ships dont try to avoid you.

ok so the door is there, and placeholders etc. but i think we are forgetting the particulars of the PC development cycle. At some stage the execs had to say, "ok guys, this is supposed to go up on the shelves in xxx months, time to stop putting in new content and just focus on debugging the game as it is." Anything that was ready was in, anything that wasn't, was out. I don't buy for a minute that something was 'removed'... (content wise) which could have otherwise been present.

Also i do not accept that a developer saying that to have combat from a horses back would take a team of programers and testers xxx hours while a modder can do it in two weeks is a contradictory situation. Consider; a modder can do whatever and upload it onto a community with a text file saying he takes no responsibility for anything, anything B releases is held to a slightly higher standard i think. I mean do you really think that a single programmer who has worked on Ob for 2/3/4 years could not make such a mod faster than a 3rd party modder? of course they could, but could they release it as an official B mod? No, it would need to be planned, balanced and throughly tested.

thats my AUD$2

Lighten up guys, the screens shots look great and the feature list is impressive. I for one am choosing to be optimistic.

This iritates me so much, ive been looking forward to the day that portable music players and mobiles would combine and now Apples done it first and ****ed it up. Like the artical says, its supposed to be a revolution, they nerfed it so it didnt threaten iPod sales when they should have been aiming to REPLACE iPods AND mobile phones in one fell swoop.

Which is more of an exploit?

1) Flying around in a chopper full of engineers capping flags, or
2) Flying around in a jet blowing said helo to kingdom-come and earning yourself six easy kills everytime.

A) Neither, the first is a perfectly viable tactic and the 2nd is an excellent counter.

In fact ive played a game where this was demonstrated to such a degree that the team using the helo lost, becuase they persisted and lost so many tickets, all it took was one pilot in a MiG. It didn't really matter how many flags they capped or how fast, everytime that MiG came around they lost 6 tickets. Or is it 5? I forget. None the less, it is hardly an exploit when there exists such an effetive counter.

driv3r? Surely the best title to adopt the fad was 1sane racing, which my friends and I insisted on refering to as 'onesane'.

While most of the game mode were pretty crap, we got hours on enjoyment playing king of the hill, where one of us would drive the largest truck and the other 3 of us would try to knock him off in small buggys. Results were hilarious and the score irrelivant.

Pretty much agree with you. His posts almost read like another language sometimes. On the other hand, I think he really does know all those words he uses; he sarcastically/boastfully refers to his vocabulary and the many strange words that he knows all the time.

Could'nt disagree more, i often find his writing as entertaining as the comics.

i[There were two significant problems with NFSU.
1) The lack of speed. The races never really felt intense because it never really felt like you were going very fast. In a racing game, this is a major issue.]

Couldnt disagre more, by the time your driving the Skyline GTR with all level 3 performance mods the sensation of speed was perhaps the most enjoyable thing about the game.

i[2) The Evolution mode forced you to drive a bunch of crappy, 5 MPH cars before advancing onto the decent ones. A racing game should never force you to drive a crappy car for more than one race. In fact, racing games shouldn't even have crappy cars.]

That hardly makes sense given the kind of game, if the game takes me 30 hours to get to the Skyline, im going to play it for 35. If i can load it up and get a skyline in only going to play for 10 till i get bored.

I really think DS should give up his battlecruiser idea, thought it was a good one. Fact is from the very begining he was trying to do too much with too little. There is a reason why succesful games often ship without features that appear in the original design.

IMO a revolutionary flight sim. Who can remember the carrier battle mode? Awsome memories, that game.

Esp the time two friends of mine played a game, one killed the other by flying over the top of him and then bailing out.

Bollocks, sure it looked like shit, but i was switichin thru windows and making awsome shiz happen 2 mins into the tutorial. For a 3D RTS, the UIs usability was second to none.
