The lag we get in BL3 co-op is terrible - horrible rubber banding which makes it unplayable for me and my mates here in the UK for whoever isn't hosting. Tried everything - seems (according to the forums) we're not alone, and the only thing is to play it across Hamachi. Apparently something to do with the SHiFT being NA/US based?

Really enjoyed this, far more than I expected. Glad it sold as well as it did - I actually only played it as it came on XBox Game Pass. Wonder if/how those downloads actually count against sales?

I play these types of games to pilot spaceships. I just don't care about being able to walk around as a character and I especially don't care about having first-person shooter gameplay bolted on. There's so many other games I could play if I wanted to play a FPS (and they will undoubtedly have better FPS gameplay). There are not, however, many games which I can pilot a spaceship.

I don't disagree about the content angle, but for me, after playing the mess that is Star Citizen, having space-legs adds an incredible feeling of scale and being there.

I loved walking up to my ship, opening the cargo bay doors, walking through it, into the seat and flying into space. Heck, I even loved firing into Hyperspace, leaving the seat, walking into the back of the ship and looking through the windows as the stars whizz past on my journey through the galaxy. It feels infinity more "real" and exactly what I imagined when playing Elite back in the 80s/90s.

So yeah, space legs is a huge, huge thing for me, it'll bring me right back into the game.

Agreed - I've played them all, and AC2 was my favourite, followed by Black Flag.

Like most, I feel like they've lost their way with Origins/Odyssey. It's not really an AC game any more, feels like like a generic, open-world combat game.

I mean, it's getting decent reviews, and it looks good. But it's on EGS, barely any wheel support, no FFB support and no VR support plus a few bugs.

One to pick up down the line once it's cheaper and the wheel support is better I think.

Nice, always fancied trying this so I'll give it a go, 50gb might take most of the weekend on my shabby internet though, I really wish they'd give a days pre-load for deals like this.

Well I'm gonna buck the trend and say I've been using the XBox Beta app to play various games (on Game Pass) for the last 6 months and...it's been fine. I pick to to download, it downloads and it works.

Not sure what else is needed, TBH. Layout could be better, but whatever. I just need it to be able to download and launch games, which it does.

He said in the past he's never going to discount it.

TBH, I have no regrets over my £25. 210 hours played and I still go back to it. Worth every penny.

Outer World was over-rated too. It was solid, enjoyable game, but 7.5/10 tops for me.

However - I'm thinking the journo's are over-hyping these because there is a massive drought of decent single player games from AAA studios and they're being over-celebrated.

And I'm glad they are. The more games like FO are rated and selling, the more chance I've got of seeing a proper KOTOR or TIE/XWing title.

I wil admit that getting Alyx free with any Index hardware IS probably going to push me over the edge on buying the controllers. I have a Vive, but it's part of the early batches and the controllers have issues with the thumbpads. I don't think I want the Index headset, though. A buddy has it, it's niceR, but not worth the upgrade cost, especially since the higher resolution on it will cause my 1080 to struggle more often.

Interesting. I was planning on buying the headset and keeping the controllers and basestations....

I know you've not mentioned it, but I will for anyone else reading - I wished I'd have avoided the B450 boards and spent more and just got an X570 instead.

I bought the Tomahawk MAX and after spending loads of time flashing firmware (and it killed one board, on my second now) I'm still left with poor boot times. I don't consider my time especially valuable, but I'd rather have spent the extra £100 than go through all this sh*t

Took forever to level, took forever to make any gold. No flying, slow ass travel times.

But this is exactly what some people wanted. Everyone wants to rush to end game, but that's not where the enjoyment of WoW was for me (and many others). Journey vs destination.
Again, travel times made the world feel grand in it's scale, and scrapping for every penny was part of the 'fun'.

WoW Classic/Vanilla has less content, but takes longer to do. Ultimately it depends on how you like the pace of your gaming. I'm old, so slower the better.

BUT! I do agree we'll see a massive decline in about a month or two after the rose-tinted has gone...but we'll see.

Apparently you can't fly them, you just command them. Tell it to got to X system, then when you eventually get there yourself, you can use it as a mobile base, as can anyone else you grant access to.

Rumoured to be indestructible, and only one of these vessels per instance, according to Reddit. They're guessing around 1-1.5billion.

Yup, 350 hours in. Still fun. Strange thing is, I don't play it to chase loot like I do with Borderlands, Diablo2 or Division....I play it because it's enjoyable. The loot (which amounts to chasing reds in the end game).
I do only tend to play with friends though, the odd time I have played with randoms, it can be a bit...mixed.

All those millions of dollars and they can't even get basic shit right. It's a red flag.

Your logic is sound... But then you should apply it to every game that has this problem, which is basically every game with logging in (which may be the real problem).

It's well know that there's absolutely no point building the infrastructure around the first few weeks of connectivity when you'll never see that level of activity again.

You're better off just weathering the storm until it dies down....as you say, WoW has been doing this for years.

In particular I'll find myself contemplating that part of the trick is to intentionally tip that there's something wrong, which may be to weed out skeptics and leave the scammers free to assume they are dealing with more gullible targets from the start.

That's an interesting theory, I really like it. And whether or not it's intentional or not, the weeding out effect is definitely true.

The UK TV program "QI" did a part on it, explaining how they intentionally leave spelling and grammar errors in order to get the best 'catches' (although I can't find a link to it at the moment)

It's also summerised here:

Your comment seems to echo the general user reviews. 9.7 / 10 from MetaCritic's Critic Reviews, yet only 7.6 from User Reviews (based on at least 2000 reviews). Basically, over hyped and under delivers seems to be the consensus.

I think it's more about expectation.

The game is incredible - but it's glacially paced, from the slow first intro/tutorial chapter, through to the very slowly introduced mechanics over the following missions. The pace of the game is barely a canter.

If you're OK with that, you'll love it. The world, the details, the graphics are outstanding....but I think people were expecting more of a GTA approach. It's not that, and I suspect there is disappointment, hence the user reviews.

It hasn't under delivered, it's just not quite what was expected.

Knowing there are no loot boxes, no RNG, no 'buying power' but only the option to buy cosmetics strait up. My interest in this game has gone from a 2 to a 5. The idea of an evolving story that actually reshapes the land is pretty cool. Though this is EA so not a doubt in my mind those 'new, evolving stories' introduced over time will cost $$.

Indeed. Destiny 2 has so far cost £40 + £35 and another £50 for the new expansion. £125? There's not a huge amount of content there either for the first £75, certainly not in relation to the price IMO.
