I did the BeyondUnreal preview and I can tell you that this game is in no way, shape, or form being consolized. The demo we played was every bit the PC game that Unreal Tournament and UT 2004 were. So, you can get that worry off of your mind straight away.

Epic's next game isn't UT in any form. Angel is just confused.

The source of that story isn't PlanetUnreal anyhow... they were just copying our news, as usual.

That's not really true. Most of the bug fixes relate to newly introduced technology or gameplay. The engine itself dates back to Unreal (technically speaking), but it's been stripped and updated with virtually every single release. Not to mention a lot of the patches contain enhancements or new features.

The game itself was relatively bug-free on shipping. Something that's not easy to do when creating PC games.

You should try playing it before you say that.

Currently the demo is the second most played game online, just behind CounterStrike, ahead of Call of Duty, Battlefield, and W:ET.

As far as some of the "undocumented" voice commands... one of the funnier ones is "<bot> dance". Try "everyone dance" for a very funny scene.

I think you're confused. The comments below were about UT2004's vehicles. Not XMP's which is a free add-on to Unreal2 and not at all representative of the work being done on Tournament.

That's not correct at all.

They didn't separate the game into two halves and sell it as UT2003 and Unreal2. Unreal2 was in development long before UT2003. They DID strip the PLANNED multiplayer gametypes from Unreal 2 when UT2003 was announced so that they wouldn't overlap and so that Legend could concentrate on making the best possible singleplayer game instead of wasting time making loads of DM and CTF maps.

UT2003 was completely developed by Digital Extremes (with help from Epic) and didn't work with Legend in any way.

As far as "cramped indoor maps".. you couldn't be more wrong. There are loads of outdoor and very large indoor maps. It makes it pretty clear that you either didn't watch any of the last few videos or have a very short memory.
