Want compensation? How about a few weeks of playing the game FREE? I tire of multiplayer games quickly, and have gotten my $50 worth long before a game was released. Had a blast with the game, but never even bothered to buy it because I'd played it out before release. Planetside, Asheron's Call, UT2K3, dozens of others. Played the beta, loved the beta, but never bought the full version because two weeks of beta testing was enough to fill me on the game.

I have to admit I think along the same lines. I betatested Diablo II, Unreal II XMP and Horizons, and though I bougth Diablo II afterwards and liked Unreal II XMP and Horizons, I would not buy the MMORPG cause I never would (I actually liked betatesting it so I could play a commercial grade MMORPG for free, even if in beta), and Unreal II XMP... well, it is great, but I do not know if I would buy U2 if I did not already own it for it.

And yes, I did file bugs, whenever I came across one. And it always gave me some kinda good feeling, having the devs respond to you and trying to fix your "personal" problem... It definitely is a different feeling from just shelling out your bucks at some anonymous store...

BTW: Did you all bother to wathc the credits to the end? It clearly states there "Max Payne's Journey through the darkness will continue.".

Plus: SPOILER SPOLIER SPOILER

I read in a german forum (haven't verified it yet) that there is an alternate ending if you play it again in Hard Boiled (the bullet ... does not move further in her head ... and they both walk out of the villa).

Not sure... it looks utterly cramped, and that the content is barely vsisible at the bottom edge at 1152x864 is not an improvement.

I'd rather you just really improved the site, say, use a better font size, or tweak the spaces between paragraphs, maybe ad fancy images to the menu or something like this.

But as others already stated: this is a step backwards. And to contradict someone who commented already: if it stays like this, I am not sure I am gonna come back daily. Content can be found on other pages as well, Blues big plus was the easy readability and general slim design.

Actually, I was disappointed big time by it as well, and all my friends with me.

Baldurs Gate 1 & 2 (and probably Icewind Dale 1 & 2 as well, though I did not really enjoy them) really raised the bar quite high, and NWN was, well, 3D. And that is about it, and quite well summarizes what I dislike about trends. If they are trends, run after them, no matter what. I mean, look at all those beautifully rendered BG backgrounds, and then at the boring NWN textures...

who thinks that the graphics looked crappy as hell? I mean, what does "latest Unreal technology" mean if the video looks like the first Unreal technology? The video presented us with some mediocre designed levels, extremely bad designed/textured PCs/NPCs and stupid combat.
Is that the only thing players need to get from a MMORPG? I thought is was at least a little about RPG, but nowadays people seem to be really happy to eat that kinda sh*t dev's thow at them.
No, I am not saying that every new game is bad, or even most, just some, and lotsa sequels among them.
Don't they ever learn? It's the same as with the music biz, I guess. Throw some Britney at them, kids are gonna buy it, sales up. In a year, throw Britney II at them. Kids are gonna buy it. Well. And then. When we are at Britney X, I guess even them kids will notice they are just given the same ol' shyte over and over.

Sorry for my ranting.

You know, what I found to be the most important little piece-o-information in the recent HL2 interviews was in this one: the fact that in HL2 the player will be playing the role of Gordon Freeman continually, not changing position between two levels, and not being aboard another planet / spaceship / whatever in the next "mission". This was what really set HL apart from other games at that time. Moddability and a scalable engine (sure, it looks outdated today, but not that much... I mean, c'mon, you can do some good things with it, and playing HL now again is still much fun. Playing Doom or Quake again now is basically nostalgia) only made HL great in the long run, but it was also good back then already.
This continously evolving plot helped bring the game world to life, since you were really experiencing it all, and did not just get thrown some fancy tidbits here and there, and then this, and then here...

Edit: Left a statement hanging in mid-sentence. Caught it.

Well, do it as I did - I grabbed the Collectors Edition (which is always the US version, wherever you live) in Germany, and therefore, I bought both Tribunal and now Bloodmoon in their US incarnations. Many (online) shops import these versions, sometimes even for less than the localized version.

Thanks, TimothyB / #63, I re-read the part about trying 20 times, and voila - it somehow magically downloaded now, with 800k, after tons-o-retries, and even my ftp client set to repeatedly try it for half an hour. But then Mozilla just got thru...

I hope they rock when I got them, but from what I've seen so far, they will... oh, they will, boy!

(What'S this... Doom 3... they are all talking about again?)

> Are the controls as bad as Gothic or Ultima IX?

Are you kidding? These are the worst controls in a game ever. No mouse look, since you need the mouse for selecting mighty important items in the what? menu? Truning with the keyboard, therefore. Else, Point-and-click where you want to walk, or rather crawl to. Horrible camera control, or, if automated, horrible camera AI. Nuff said.

Well, #50, big mistake there. We are not talking Unreal Tournament 2003 here, but Unreal 2 - this is not referred to as UT2, but U2:TA or shorter U2.

Check your posts before you make them public.

Just to quote you:
"It surely would have helped on UT2 if I downloaded a demo just to see how shitty of a game it is."

Unless you are referring to UT2K3 - but that cannot be, there was a demo for it.
