<soapbox>

...is a childish hack who should be forced to play his own game for all of eternity.

I say "good job" to both MS and Sony for denying him the opportunity to publish his "game" on any of their console systems.

I have my doubts about how long this relationship will last...

McGee seems to be pretty fickle when it comes to working with publishers (even as a contracted designer).

Definitely a smart move... although I think that IO is just as talented (if not more in some regards) than the current Ion Storm crew.

I'm betting that Ubisoft simply wants to add Wolfpack to their permanent stable of developers - especially in light of the two failed MMORPG launches mentioned below.

Keep in mind that experience developing and supporting a MMORPG is still a valued commodity to publishers (despite how good Shadowbane may or may not have been).

I've actually met and spoken with Samantha Ryan in person (she's a regular speaker at the Game Developer's Conference).

Her ascent into this position is no surprise since she struck me as extremely smart, well-spoken, level-headed, and as someone who really knows the ups and downs of game production. Couldn't have happened to a nicer person.

Hmm, yes... It's all coming together now...

MS holds the AC brand, but Turbine wants to make cash from the name. They scuttle AC2 to lower the IP value and snap it back up from MS on the cheap.

FFXI is cool, but such a pain in the ass if you want to play with any real-life friends (worldpasses and such)...

Despite being localized for US-English FFXI still has a "language barrier", especially if you don't play many FF games

I would recommend DAOC over FFXI if you want something with PvP... and if you want to play with other folks who speak English as their first language.

Not only that, but their publisher probably gets a cut of that subscriber money.

Yep. If I remember correctly at least 3-5 level designers (and probably others) on the Medal of Honor crew left 2015 for the Texas-based Ritual Entertainment (level-lord's company). These same people who left then got laid off directly after completing Elite Force 2.

I still expect great things out of 2015 despite their loss.

As I understand it - The majority of war veterans in the U.S. prefer not to talk about wars that they have participated in, unless they are discussing it with fellow veterans. This is because veterans believe (rightly so) that anyone who was not there could never fully understand what they went through.

I imagine that most war veterans are either outraged or are completely indifferent to these products since they can never truely reproduce the horrors of war.

To quote my step dad: "Vietnam sure as hell didn't feel like a game to me."

EA apparently loves redundancy.

This looks like it's the PC equivalent of MoH: Rising Sun.

This doesn't surprise me at all...

Some of the most popular fiction in Germany is set in the Wild West, but with a twist: the Native American Indians are the protagonists. And whitey... well, we all know whitey is evil.
