It will debut with the expansion.

They already stated that the expansion is running v1.3, so you need to patch your game at that time even if you don't buy the expansion. I would guess a patch comes along a couple of days before the expansion hits the shelves.

The expansion is looking very nice by the way, can't wait to try out thoose new levels and vehicles...

This article is a must-read for any fans of BF1942. The 6-page hands-on gives info and impressions of all new maps and vehicles in the RtR-expansion. Don't miss the 28 gameplay-movies either, they better describe/showcase the new maps and features than any text can ever do. Really nice work on IGN;s behalf...

On a sidenote, the community of BF1942 seems to be growing rapidly. There was a huge increase in online-activity around chistmas, but thoose figures have actually increased even further since then (according to ASE-stats). New CB-cup, alot of new clans, dozens of great-looking mods, etc...

The imho best multiplayer-FPS to date is actually starting to gain some serious grounds...

There are actually mods under development with this exact feature - underground tunnels. Its a Vietnam-mod which seems to be the first one exploring this possibility...

A screenshot of it:

And back to topic. I think this expansion is all but expensive, as someone mentioned below, the cost for each map is almost marginal. And thoose maps are made by professionals, who have had very big recources when it comes to tweaking and modeling.

Was 12000+ players online last night, the community is growing at a very rapid rate at the moment. Not strange though, since BF1942 is imho the best (most fun and versitile) teambased-FPS to date. Bring it on.

Check the end of the preview, pretty amazing stuff:

"EA has carefully tracked the success of Battlefield 1942, and it has plans to keep expanding the franchise. There's a live team developing patches to add features and refine the gameplay--for example, the team wants to make the feel of the infantry guns as solid as that in any competing first-person shooter. Some fans noted that it took quite a while for the 1.2 patch to come out, but EA wants each update to include some significant features. There are milestones mapped out for patches up to versions 1.5 and 1.6. "

Shit, that was more than I hoped for...
