Easy. Google has no desire to spend money on customer service.

Yup.
They likely outsource it to people that have no actual power. Ones with scripts to walk through common issues and resolves, but no ability to actually make changes.

I think I actually bought more on EGS than Steam in 2020.

Full disclosure: 2020 was probably the least gaming I've done in my life. I don't think I bought a single game on Steam. Actually, they send receipts, so I can check. I was wrong - I made two purchases. The first was 2 games for $2.50 each: Luftrausers, Nuclear Throne. I don't know what these are or why I bought them. The next was Half Life: Alyx, which my PC couldn't handle.

On EGS, I bought Tony Hawk 1+2, as well as Maneater. Spent far more time playing each of those. New purchases on Steam were played for 7 minutes (again, couldn't run Alyx well.) Those two EGS games got about 20 hours each. Both were stupid fun. Both ran simply and easily. Other than not being in my Steam shelf, or having Steam stats (of which I only look at time played) or Achievement (which I never find well done on their platform), I had no functional difference between launchers on those two games.

I meant to use my $10 credit on EGS, but forgot to. There was some game I wanted, but wanted on Steam, so didn't buy. Maybe Hades? Maybe Disco Elysium? Spent time wondering if EGS was worth being $10 less than Steam, then just forgot to buy.

"thought police socialism" is an amazing fear mongering term. Do people actually believe this stuff?

And how can a poster that advocates for the man that lost the popular vote twice claim to want to uphold democracy?

Bottom line here: corporations = bad; murderous, hate-filled werewolves = good.

So sad not to see a classical werewolf game instead of this insane diatribe against civilization.

I get that not everyone likes non-fiction, but it has its place.

Aren't these each 100 hour games?

How many adults have the time to play 300 or so hours of a linear game they've already played?

They have a board? Parler actually has a normal corporate structure? I admit, I am surprised. I just assumed it was a small group of people doing it all on their own. Figured John Matze had just agreed or had been select by that small group to be the spokesperson with the title of "CEO" for the sake of sounding impressive. That's actually semi-interesting.

Yes. It's run by billionaire Rebekah Mercer, who likely starts many of the George Soros rumors to normalize how involved she is in republican propaganda

I'm actually shocked they used Orientalist instead of Asianist or something similar.

It's the correct term. They're not making these terms up, they already exist.

I think what Floorpie is referring to is the word "oriental" has been sort of deemed in bad taste. I have been told that by many people with asian heritage. Is that not the case? I am not comparing it to the "N" word but, at least where I live, that wouldn't be anyone's first choice in vocabulary.

Note: Don't care about the SJW vs "Everything is racist now!" debate....so please nobody start that ridiculous debate for like 100000000th time.

You shouldn't refer to people as Oriental, but you can refer to things as Oriental. Rugs, not people.

But the term Orientalism is one that has a lengthy history.

Sure, hot baths cure covid. I'm sure there's plenty of science behind this, not anecdotal evidence from someone that happened to get past it while having also taken a bath.

Stop screwing people with regional pricing and you'll see less piracy.

Regional pricing exists specifically to combat piracy in lower income countries. If you expect someone who earns the equivalent to $2000 a year in income to pay $80 for a new game, you're delusional.

Then again, if $2,000 is all you get per year, you should not be buying games but use the little money you got for the important things in life, right?

The important things in life would cost less in those regions.

Yup.

Because middle age isn't literally the halfway point of your life, it's the years between 45 and 60.

You could have looked this up, but you seem to enjoy thinking your incorrect understanding of common concepts is always right.

As someone who's done a fair bit of interviewing, I can say that hiring is one the most biased processes we have. No one ever has all the qualifications you're looking for, so you're almost always picking among multiple non-ideal candidates. How that decision is ultimately made is usually completely subjective, and therefore ripe for discrimination on any number of areas.

Yup.

People endlessly whine about "merit," without stopping and thinking. No one, nor any position, is simply a set of numbers. Everything is more complex than that.

Even where it numerical, it's still situational. The situation I frequently give is a team that does 2 main tasks. They interview two candidates for a new role. The first candidate ranks a 75 at each task. The second candidate ranks a 40 at the first task, but a 100 at the second. The first candidate is better on paper, but if the existing team is all very strong at the first task and moderate at the second, hiring someone best in class at the second makes sense, even if they're the weaker candidate overall.

And this doesn't even get into cultural fit, in that no matter how good a person is at their job, if everyone hates being around them they're a net negative for the team.

Not a concern as far as I know. To quote a well known sportswriter, "If you took all the cheaters and bums out of baseball you could put the Hall of Fame in a broom closet."
Lord knows Curt Schilling won't be missed.

He was a very good pitcher for quite some time and had no cheating scandals that I know of. The only thing I can grasp at you did not like his politics and my question what has that to do with baseball?

He's borderline hall of fame, at best. He's behind the average HoF pitcher in virtually every meaningful category.
So to make a case, you need to look at the intangibles. Is he beloved? No. In fact, he's largely been asked to stay as far away from the sport as possible, as he has been an embarrassment.

I know some of you conflate awful things with conservatism. Homophobia, transphobia, islamophobia, misogyny, etc. These aren't generally conservative values, but for some reason, some of you defend them as such. But people aren't against them because they're conservative, they're against them because a very rich man such as Schilling constantly whining about people that have no impact on his life is pretty much the definition of a jerk.

And this doesn't even get into him using his fame to get an incredible loan from a state government, which he did not deserve but happily took, which he then lost and declared bankruptcy, screwing over that state and his employees, and then went on to discuss how bad government handouts are, as if he didn't get one of the largest in Rhode Island history.

Normally I support PETA's basic intent, but like so many liberal causes, they are now going off the deep end. Just how does PETA think domesticated animals came into being? Cattle, sheep, horses, Oxen, chickens all used to be wild animals until man started capturing them and keeping them to perform work or serve as a food source.

Domesticating wild animals is OK in my book, but it does sound like this particular coconut operation is unnecessarily cruel.

Now? PETA has always been off the deep end.
