I'd love to play Among Us, but I have speech and hearing impediments and no time.

It's typed and hearing really isn't needed, have ya watched the gameplay?

Yeah. I play with the sound off. I couldn't tell you if I'm missing anything, but given how frequently I feel like I'm the only one on a server who knows what's going on, probably not much. Fixing Communications is the only hassle. I do feel, though, that playing on mobile is a bit of a disadvantage as typing takes longer, particularly on the landscape stretched keyboard, but it's fine. Part of the game is overcoming difficulty communicating.

I feel like every game I've played that has weapons degradation has completely failed to provide any quality of life in the interface to avoid constantly mucking around in your inventory. That's all I really remember from DI1. A basic filter that would replace the lowest durability weapon in your inventory would have made things a lot more playable. Even better would be automatically breaking things down for materials, an option to break them down instead of picking them up, separate buckets to set up throwaway weapons, weapons for bosses, weapons with special powers, etc. At some point I realized that I was having more fun imagining how I would set up a better interface than I was playing the game, and that was that.

But I thought weapons degradation in video games was a pain in the '90s, and in 30 years it seems like no one has had any ideas on how to make it better.

Per Steam, I played this 2 hours. Wasn't sure why I stopped, though it felt cheap in some ways.

You reminded me. Weapon degradation. Even in TW3 I modded that out.

My company has many employees on visas, and I have direct knowledge that it doesn't save us any money. The talent pool is pretty tight in my industry, and someone on a visa is frequently the best applicant for the position. They are hired on the exact same pay scale as non-visa holders, but with the added headaches of having to navigate the visa rules.

Same situation here. I know for a fact that the H1B contractors make the same as the other developers.
We just have a really hard time finding people.

Yup. I was hiring H1Bs, but not at the level that I had insight into direct salary. HR sent me candidates, I interviewed them, I decided who I wanted, they came. I never knew immigrants status. My budget was set by roles, not dollar amount.

We wanted the best. The best requires looking outside the US. We hired predominantly from the US, but there's value to taking the best and brightest from anywhere

Step 1: Shut down every country with a fake pandemic
Step 2: ???
Step 3: Profit!

I'd love to see the dots connected here. Why was Italy the focal point? Which rich people decided to shut down Italy? Who is the person pulling the strings. The main person to profit in 2020 is Elon Musk, is he the mastermind behind this all?

How do people believe this?

Did you open your Parler account yet. It is an unbiased platform where all 17 of us can express ourselves freely.
Plus I get the latest Qdrops hot off the griddle along with porn.

I love that the same people that feel Parler is the best thing ever are the same that want to remove Section 230.
What do they think would happen to Parler if it was responsible for the things they did on the site?

People die all the time on airplanes, motorcycles, trains, skydiving, rock climbing. Why take the chance? Sure the statistics of people who die flying on planes is small, but still, why take the chance? Anybody got any stories of somebody they know who died on a plane or motorcycle so that we can be safe by not doing those things any more? *face palm*

Weirdly, there are lots of rules and regulations about how we fly airplanes, ride motorcycles, and engineer trains. Wacky.

I wonder if you complain about seatbelt laws and pilots licenses. "How dare the FAA tell me where I can fly? If I want to buzz the White House I'll damn well do so!"

Gentle thought starter: if you can't name a celebrity you like with your facial hair, you probably don't look the way you hope to look with that facial hair.
Tom Selleck, Vincent Price, Burt Reynolds, Groucho Marx, Frank Zappa, and as I said Sam Elliot -- that's simply off the top of my head.
and I freaking wish I looked as good as Tom, Burt or Sam
here's another one

The recent ZAPPA doc was good. God damn he was brilliant.

Unlike the basic midwestern goatee, the mustache can be pulled off, it's just very difficult, in part because it typically labels you as a cop, a porn star, or a Brooklyn hipster circa 2014.

But for those that can pull it off, never stop. Mine isn't nearly bushy enough, nor is my head right for it to look distinguished.

For the above list, Selleck pulls it off, Vincent Price couldn't were he our age now (same with John Waters, who has a similar stache), Burt's wasn't particularly great and I blame partially for his fall-off in the 80s (it was such a 70s stache), Groucho's was usually painted on but man, when it wasn't it was so bushy that he could style it perfectly, Zappa's was also bushy but also kind of screamed "were I not famous people would cross the street to avoid me," and Sam Elliot's is absolute perfection and anyone that can grow that should be legally obligated to do so.

For every Superman in Mission Impossible 6, there's a thousand Dr. Phil's or Michael Cera's. I am jealous of all that pull it off.

Zakk Wylde. But, in truth, it's because I don't see the need to shave at the moment. I am not meeting people. I haven't been in to the office in months. What's the point?

Full viking beards are wildly popular, though growing less so.

The simple goatee, though (as opposed to a Van Dyke or more styled, less connected on.) When this guy can't pull it off without looking like a mid 90s frumpy sitcom dad...

Virtually anything can be made cheaply. But life isn't Field of Dreams. They won't come just because you build it. Or have you not noticed how frequency Google has failed to succeed with any form of message or conference?

You think they bought the technology yet you call others stupid. That's very funny.

Hint: it's the users. Same reason anything has sold in the past 20 years. The tech hardly matters. Do you think Facebook paid billions for WhatsApp because its tech was unique?

Stop flipping out and calling others stupid when you're the one being ignorant (not an insult, just an observation; Cutter lacks any business knowledge) and irrational

Five Guys is the most restaurant-like of the fast food burgers. While that has its advantages, it's also a fairly mediocre restaurant burger, almost definitely cooked well done. Take away the toppings and it's pretty clear it's not the best beef and not the best cooked.

The only fast food burgers I'll eat are Shake Shack and In-n-Out. Shake Shack's quality is pretty apparent, though you pay for it, and though I can only speak for ones in the city (I've been to one in NJ and it didn't taste the same, for whatever reason.) But these two places don't do restaurant burgers, they do pressed burgers, a style you only find in places like them. If I want a restaurant burger, there are a dozen places near me that do a much better one than Five Guys (albeit for a higher cost.) But only two other places near me do pressed burgers, both trying to be like Shake Shack or In-n-Out (and, frankly, both are pretty good.)

I live near the Shake Shack test kitchen, and for a while it was doing an aged Pat Lafreida patty with Beecher's chedder. It was really damn good.

I mentioned this earlier, as well. To me, the fact GOG has it at the same price as Steam means they really don't give a shit where you buy their game -- they just laugh all the way to the bank because of the people who do buy it at their place due to this deluded meaning everyone is attaching to online stores/platforms.

It's weird that so few people seem to remember that Valve has included in their contracts that you can't sell a game for less on another platform than you sell it on Steam. Barring sales, of course, this is talking about the default price. So even if they wanted to sell it for less on GOG, they can't - unless they want to forgo selling it on Steam at all.

It's the exact same argument people used to complain when games on Valve weren't cheaper than in-store.
No one wants to piss off their distributors.
