Like, if they have to make it really look horrendous just to get some performance improvements, then that is why the had to do. There is no way they could get the graphics anywhere close to next gen on the older hardware while still running smooth. It's really a no win situation to grab extra $$$ off people. Not a good look.

The issue isn't that it looks bad, it's that it crashes and is full of too many bugs.

Why do people here have so much distain for console owners that they keep saying "hey, deal with it, it isn't a big deal!"

No one said this when Arkham Knight got pulled on the PC

My office is closed the next two weeks, which means I'll probably have 30-90 minutes of work any given day. Seems a good time to start something time consuming. Looking for recommendations.

Right now, I'm considering:
* Disco Elysium
* Morrowind with some modding (never played)
* The Witcher 3 (again)
* The second in the newer Deus Ex
* The far cry with the twins
* Alan Wake or Control
* Dishonored 2
* Dead Island, if there's a mod for weapon repairs
* Shadow run Returns
* Xenonauts
* Crusader Kings 3

Odds are I'll just do a replay of Mount & Blade Warband or Jagged Alliance 2, haha

I don't get why people with expensive PC rigs act as if this is no big deal just because it doesn't impact them. Console sales were going to be at least 40%, if not 60%, and they released a version that does not run and they withheld review copies.

In any case, sorry, but saying that calling this distracting is prude, and that it's no different than walking into a sex store, is a bad argument. You walk into a sex store to see dildos, so they're not distracting because they're expected.

Seeing dildos where you do not expect to see them is a distraction, because it leaves you going "hey, a dildo!" That's a distraction. If you see one on the street, it distracts you. When a video made it to the top of reddit yesterday with one in the background, most of the discussion was about the unexpected dildo, because it's a distraction. Anything you do not expect is a distraction. A low frame rate or bad FOV is also a distraction.

A city covered in dildos is a distraction. In Saints Row, the intention is to distract. The complaint people have here is that it feels congruous and out of place.

Tying back to the rant I just did in another topic, it just feels like so many gamers can't separate the art from the hobby, nor themselves from the hobby. Any slight against any game that comes from a POV they do not have is grounds for war.

Did someone encounter a bug or performance issue you did not? Then the issue is the user or the system, clearly not the developer, even if the bug is happening on 100% of a certain system the game was released and sold for $60 for
Did someone not enjoy a mission? You'd better act as if they're attacking the entire product, because you can't separate out individual parts of a game, you must adore it entirely!

It's just so odd to me that so many say "well, why would you expect it to run on the recommended hardware?!" That's the whole purpose of recommended hardware, no?

Meanwhile, plenty of other hardware runs on that hardware while looking significantly better. Sure, there may be more going on under the hood here than much of that, but is it really enough to justify something being released that doesn't run on the hardware it's being sold for?

I'll never get why some gamers are so immediately quick to defend anything a developer does. "They worked their employees 100 hours a week for 6 years without pay? These are desirable jobs and they could have left at any time! They use the N word? It's their creative right! They got half a point out of 10 docked for the game literally not running? So-called journalists are a joke today!"

Even your favorite band releases bad songs. No one says they're horrible for it. You can criticize something without condemning it, meaning that not everyone needs to run to defend it. Get in the Ring is a terrible Guns N Roses song. It doesn't make the band terrible, or the album, or the other songs around it. No one feels the need to call anyone saying it's a bad song idiots or accuse them of having bad sound systems. The final episode of Seinfeld is pretty bad, but few that love the show feel the need to call anyone that has that opinion dumb and objectively wrong. But say something perceived as a slight to a game or developer and some people act like you declared war on the entire hobby.

This is actually a better example than you think. UPS and FedEx do not deliver to every address in the US. It's too expensive for them to. This is why we have the USPS. They are required by act of Congress to deliver to every single address in the US. This is very expensive, but a requirement. It's also why it's infuriating when conservatives try to kill the post office, as the private sector will never address the entire market.

Basically, there's a huge difference between the private companies, even if they have huge market share, and the government-owned entities. Which feels pretty spot on for discussions about what is and is not censorship.
