- lobbying reforms
- congressional term limits
- rebuilding US infrastructure

If he follows through on these (and it looks like it's crumbling away)

None of those fall under the purview of the President though, do they? Congressional term limits would almost certainly have to be voted on by actual Congress, lobbying reform would need to be a law, hence Congress / Senate, and the US infrastructure I'm not sure on, but since it involves money it'd have to go through both Congress and the Senate?

A lot of presidential candidates always promise everything, and people always blindly believe them, without even going "hey, wait a minute. Can the President actually DO anything about that?"

Tyranny is awesome so far. Not the most sprawling rpg I've played, but pretty awesome anyway. The characters and worldbuilding are top notch, can't wait to see where the story will lead.

Cool. It's definitely on my list.

The first level is kinda dull, but the second one is awesome. Huge city, lots of really big buildings to explore, the blood fly infestations are creepy as fuck, lots of loot and lore to find. I've been roaming through it for the last three hours or so, and have got like 50% of the level explored.

Definitely cool

Good. It was a fucking terrible deal. The fact that the countries involved in it had to negotiate the whole thing in secret should how just how much bullshit it was.

Me too! I have also had enough! Wait, what are we talking about? Anti-competitive practices in Windows? Oh. Is that still a thing people find surprising?

As for the win7 update thing (happens on Win8 too btw), yeah it's just fucked up. Fortunately you can still push updates out through SCCM or a WSUS so we can get around it at work, but it's pretty damn irritating.

Thanks for the tip, Hanover, we'll have to give that a try!

Also, the System Update Readiness Tool seems to alleviate the issues on some of the machines I've tried it on.

How bad is the release state?

It runs fine for me on a GTX970 / i5-2500 with 8GB of RAM. Mostly high settings, some medium. I turned on almost all of the bells and whistles except Depth of Field.

There is the occasional area where it chugs badly, but mostly it just plays smooth. I'd guess 40-50 FPSish.

Hmm 980 here... I'd give this game the finger on 40-50 fps.

It's not a twitch shooter, so the rock-solid 60fps really doesn't matter to me here. YMMV, of course.

Btw, one thing that has struck me as ludicrous so far is the game's absolutely absurd initial load time. It's nearly 3 minutes to get to the menu.

After that, everything is like 5-10 seconds, but three freaking MINUTES to load. That's on a PC with a 500MB/s SSD. I'd hate to see how this game loads on an Xbone...
By initial load time do you mean the very first time you started the game or every time you start the game. Because that would suck, especially since you have it on an SSD.
Dooms first startup was long, but after the first time startup times returned to normal.

Right now it honestly seems to be completely random. It can be 2 minutes one startup, and then 5 seconds the next. It makes no sense whatsoever. I just started up about six times in a row, 4 went fast, and 2 were minutes-long affairs. I sure hope it makes sense to one dude at Arkane...

Other than that, though, I'm loving the game.

When Texas does this, everyone is all like "Man, those fucking dumbass Texans, fuck Texas, who the fuck does Texas think it is, fuck Texas, let's nuke it, fuck Texas!"

And now California is doing something somewhat similar, I bet everyone is lining up and cheering.

It runs pretty good for me on a 970 with an i5-2500, so I'm not complaining. The game preset to High on most things and medium on a few. I turned on all the extra bells and whistles such as god rays, but turned off depth of field (which is a HORSESHIT effect anyway). It did slow down quite badly right in front of the gate to the harbor, I'm guessing there's something around there that's just eating FPS.

Gameplay wise it's good so far. It's pure Dishonored, so if you didn't like the first one, you won't like this one either. I haven't come across anything different yet, but admittedly I'm both:

1) Still in the first level
2) Playing as Corvo "EVERYTHING SHALL FEEL MY WRATH!" Attano.

Edit: Well, erm... I guess that was just the very first time it started? I just came back to that same spot and decided to count, and it loaded in 1 second. Maybe it was decrypting something?

3 unskippable videos, though...

Whoa, whoa, whoa...I know the F-35 was a money sink (err, blackhole?) but what was wrong with the Zumwalt destroyers? That's a new one for me, I was under the impression the R+D for it was actually underbudget. Was I hallucinating? (which, given the last couple weeks, is definitely a possibility )

=-Rigs-=

Oh, let's see:

They have a cannon which costs $800,000 to fire which they can't afford.

Experts feel it has a good chance of just flipping over if the right wave hits it.

They cost four BILLION dollars per fucking ship.

It can't really defend itself from missile attacks. (in fact, I've seen articles say that it basically has NO air defenses at all, and thus can only function as part of a battlegroup along with several MUCH cheaper Arleigh Burke class destroyers. You know, the thing it was supposed to replace.)

In short, it's a typical military fucking boondoggle. Just throw more and more and more and more and more and more fucking money against it. Meanwhile, our entire road infrastructure is collapsing and the majority of it will be undriveable by 2045 because there is no money to spend on it, all of America is bankrupted by the cost of healthcare and we have no single dime to spend on teachers, so class sizes now routinely surpass 35 or even 40 children per class.

But yeah, let's give the fucking military EVEN MORE MONEY.
