You pay full price, and then all the good stuff is available for purchase. Welcome to gaming in 2017.

Vote with your wallet. The more people keep buying shit like this, the more publishers jizz all over themselves and keep doing it.

Her apology seems legit to me. It seems far more legit than 99.999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999% of all the non-apologies out there.

Whether she'll learn anything, heh, very doubtful.

I think mine was water-resistant after 12 hours and waterproof after 48, but it was a while ago that I had a deck.

One of my favorite game series of all time, and my most favorite RPG of all time. Congrats, and thanks, CDPR!

Goddamn, that trailer hit me right in the feels too. It's awesome.

Y'all think Win10 is bad about forced reboots? Try Server 2016 which has the same forced reboot policy. "B...b...but you can set active hours!" Yeah, about that, see when you have a PDC and you have users that access your network 24/7/365 from both local and remote locations and you use AD as your authentication schema, that becomes problematic.

LOL, way to go MS. Assclowns.

Though, to be fair, you really should have a BDC or two.

Windows 10 has so many annoying intermittent issues that Win 7 never had.
- put to sleep, and it will hang indefinitely with the hard drive running. Have to reboot.
- wakes up from sleep and the network driver is completely missing. Not deactivated, but gone entirely. Have to reboot.
- sometimes it loses the ability to recognize USB devices. Even if I replug them, it won't see them. Have to reboot.

This was a clean install. My hardware is pretty standard. I don't have a lot of software other than games loaded.

There's some nasty malware that has been downloaded to certain computers from a particular website. It apparently does everything you described and more. I remember reading that the executable file was something like StarCitizen.exe.

Hahaha, awesome.

Btw, jd, most of those bugs you described have been in previous versions of Windows as well. They're not just 10 specific, they're Windows specific. Microsoft simply refuses to fix their shitty code. I've had Windows forget that I have a sound card installed since the days of Windows 98

Dare I click on that phone jack story? It sounds like being contrarian for contrarian's sake.

It's very simple. It saves them $3 per phone, and they can sell you $150 wireless earbuds.

Oh no, wait, I forgot. It's because the Apple design team "had so much courage." Rolleyes Someone tape that fucker's mouth shut.

I bought XCom 2 last year, but didn't install it until a few weeks ago. Played it for about 5 hours then uninstalled it. Didn't like the timed missions, and didn't like the overall countdown to the dark events that weaken you with negatives over time.

If you liked XCOM, I'd recommend you give XCOM2 another try. Worst case scenario, you can install one of the mods that removes or greatly increases the timers. For the most part, the timers are doable, and later missions have no timers. Dark Events do give negative attributes, but usually you can push back the event with successful missions/raids, or minimize it.

In WotC, you can actually choose to start with second wave options that double the Avatar clock and double the mission timers. The mission timers one is probably advisable, though honestly this time around I played no-cheats on that, and never had any issues completing stuff easily within even the smallest time limit (7 turns on some missions), and the Avatar clock now has so many counters it's kind of become pointless. I keep the clock at around 3 pips, just to piss the aliens off.

"Oh, you made some progress on your little project again? Here." *runs covert op that takes off 2 pips.*

Edit: Dev already beat me to it.

Really digging War of the Chosen it has managed to fix most of the flaws I had with the original XCOM2.
Did they fix the terrible slowdowns?

Yeah, they're gone, fortunately.

I love War of the Chosen, but the pacing in it is badly off. Once you've killed all three Chosen, you're probably left with at least 7 or 8 missions to do before the end, and nothing in those is a challenge anymore except for the last one. It becomes kind of a slog.

I think it would have been better had they had one (random) Chosen bug you during the early game, two of them during the mid game, and then all three at the end. Right now, if you're unlucky, you can wake two (or God forbid even all three if you're not paying attention) of them up in your first month, and just get absolutely bullied for three to four months, then you go in and wipe them out and *deflating balloon sound* there goes your challenge.

Hopefully they'll make some adjustments in a patch. I'm still in my first playthrough and I'm honestly thinking about just starting over.

My PC already became as powerful as a console, just by installing Windows 10. I lost like 80% performance.

In the meantime, 1703 broke massive amounts of security apps at my work, to the point where we've reverted back to 1607.

Basically MS is saying to the enterprise "Fuck you, here's a Service Pack every five months to fuck your shit up, and you're gonna like it because where else are you gonna go?"

Pretty sure it's not mandatory or automatic for corporate customers, is it?

No, but if you don't update your build, eventually your security patches stop working too. I mean, you could choose to stay on 1607, but how long until all your updates dry up? (Or, for that matter, MS's premium support tells you that you need to get on the current build.)

You can't postpone it indefinitely.

Yeah, I honestly don't have a problem with his delays. It was one guy trying to do a monster, monster project, and he failed for a while, and is now trying to make it right. Whether he succeeds or not, the dude tried his best, and the initial promise of what he was doing made me feel like it was worth $20 so we could see whether he could actually do it.

Recalls happen, but if it'll only work as an excuse if Amazon can prove the person saw the email and used the glasses anyway.

While I agree 100% with your sentiment, unfortunately I doubt it works that way. Car manufacturers get out from tons of shit with their cars just by playing the "We made every effort to notify person so and so of a recall for this particular issue." and the courts accept that as valid. So I doubt Amazon would be held to a higher standard, though a court may rule that sending an email is not enough, and Amazon should have sent a snail mail letter as well.

So basically that's some blokes who didn't read their emails for 2 days..... that got partially blinded (although maybe not permanently?)

Partially and permanently have no relation to each other. They have been permanently partially blinded. Damage from solar burns on your retina does not heal.

Essential has offered them a year's worth of identity theft protection service through LifeLock, though

So, a year's worth of nothing, basically? Lifelock has now been fined by the FTC TWICE because it's a giant fucking scam.

Sue the shit out of these fuckers and Andy fucking Rubin.
