A football/hockey/basketball player should make scads more money than the assholes in hobbies like baseball and golf do.

Wuh? You can get on a court and shoot a basketball today. Similarly, if you have some hand-eye coordination, you can play something that marginally looks like hockey. Against pros you'll look ridiculous, but you at least have something of a chance to sink a jumper.

You get on a field against a double A pitcher, and you will have basically 0% chance to hit him. That chance probably goes down to -10000% when you go up against a top level MLB pitcher. Yet that's a hobby? O...kay.

Players get paid according to the popularity of their sport, and according to how much money it brings in. That's why NBA salaries jumped massively this offseason, because they got shit tons of new cap space because of their massive new TV deal.

Point in fact that's where most of the money comes from, merchandising.

No. Television deals are the largest contributors, followed by attendance/concessions. Merchandising is a small part of the pie.

And pro athletes do have pensions. If they go broke, that's their own fault. Stop buying mansions and $250,000+ cars and jewellery. Take some personal responsibility and do some financial planning.

Edit, looked this up, and they do indeed get pensions, so yeah, I do agree that any athlete who goes broke is just a moron. Though many of them go broke from horrible medical bills, and the NBA players association just voted to give retired players medical benefits, which was awesome of them.

Definitely looking forward to it. The only question is, how do you create worry/tension with a character who is essentially immortal?

Ask Superman fans..

That's kind of a different level, though. Lex Luthor and the like aren't going to bother with a black guy in Harlem.

I didn't think anyone could be slower with their DLC than Bethesda, but these guys are happily managing.

I'm Beamer and I'm here to ask you a question. "Is a dev team not entitled to the sweat from their brow?"

"No" says the Darks "It belongs to everyone who bought a different version over the last 10 years"

Hahahaha, well played.

I am going wait to for more comparisons between the remastered and the original before taking the proverbial plunge.

If you own all 3 on Steam, you get the remaster for free.

"We want old school games, not this MOBA crap, not all this competition crap!"

CliffyB makes that game.

Er... this is 100% a competitive shooter, and in no way, shape or form an old-school game, so, I'm not really sure what you think cliffyb is making?

That said, the graphics looks fantastic. It has kind of the style of overwatch but is less cartoonish and (I'm guessing) not cell-shaded, so it just looks ten times sharper. I was very surprised by how excellent that video looks.

Still, it's cliffyb. That dude isn't getting a dime of my money.

Don't get your hopes up. It should more accurately be called "Ultima:Prefab Builder (if there's space left)"

LOL. Yeah, that's some solid programming there. FEEL TEH POWER OF TEH NEXT GEN CONSOLES.

God, Neo and Scorpio can't come soon enough.
You don't actually think more powerful systems will fix that, do you?

eh, I guess it depends on where the bottleneck is. If it's just because of the slow HD in the PS4, neither the Neo or Scorpio will fix it, as they'll undoubtedly just come with a shitty 5400rpm HD.

If it's graphics based, I'd assume most of it should be relieved. Someone buy a Neo when it comes out and fire up NMS one more time, we can see who's right.

I don't really want to jump on the hater bandwagon as I think this looks like a really interesting game, however the lack of PVP just screams "you have to play the game on our servers because you are all dirty pirates who will play for free if we let you have the full game". This is not really the sort of game I think should be on GOG.

Except you don't have to connect to the servers at all to play. Hello games said the GOG version will be DRM free and playable offline. All you will miss out on by not connecting to their servers is sharing discoveries with other people.

So your offline galaxy could actually NOT have every planet be named some variety of "Dick" "Butt" "Penis" "Balls" and "UrMomLolz"? That seems like a feature they should announce far more heavily.

And wtf is RG doing with SotA anyway? It's just fallen off the map hasn't it?

Oh no, far from it. They release new playable builds like every other week, and they're making very good progress with it. It's just that it's basically turned into a full-on MMO (that for now you can still play offline) rather than the single player game they'd basically originally promised, and it's an MMO that's about 100% pay to win.

Look for a world that, the day it officially starts, will have every single square inch of land filled with player houses. ie, exactly the same thing that happened with UO, only there it took a long time to happen. Here, since they're letting people buy entire towns with real money, it'll be the fucking Bronx about two hours after the official start.

In the end, I was hoping he'd recapture the Ultima magic, and he's not, so that sucks, but oh well. It was worth spending 30 bucks on at the time with the possibility that he'd do something great with it.

Ars has a nice read on the game.

Yeah, that's a solid article.

Also... ick. From said article: And, in very bad news, NMS has already proven itself a major content recycler. Every planet I go to has the same "settlement" and "mural" structures, right down to the north-south-east-west positioning of iron-built buildings in a mountain's pit. The dynamic content generators have their limits, and it didn't take me long to find them.

I was reading about a guy who was getting 200 FPS @ 1080p, and only 50 @ 4k,

Seeing as 4K is 4 times the amount of pixels as 1080p, doesn't that make sense? That's literally a perfect scale?
