From every review I watched, the 3080 is a monster. Is it QUITE as much faster than a 2080ti as claimed? in MOST cases, YES. That's ignoring RTX. Those possible double-ram versions that accidentally showed up have me hopeful that maybe we'll see them pop up sooner than later. It's VERY unlikely they accidentally released info for cards a year away.

I'm not sure if I'll go for a 20gb version or not. It'll really depend on the price premium. It'd be nice, but the 10gb will likely be just fine for anything coming in the next few years.

The "ultra" settings is the "can it run crysis" mode, which is entirely tongue-in-cheek and designed to just destroy GPUs for the next decade+

"very high" settings are the real ultra settings, and it runs quite well from what I've read.

Unfortunately, The "Ultra" mode doesn't look remotely good enough to justify the horrible performance. I'm sure part of that is the limits of trying to drag a 13 year old game into 2020. It doesn't LOOK remotely as good as Crysis 3, but runs WAY worse. Watching the Linustechtips video where they run the original game and the new one, the differences are noticeable, but nowhere near the overhaul it SHOULD have gotten.

Heard a lot of good things about this game. Might pick it up.

Guys, iOS is different from MacOS. Save The World mode is FAR more demanding than the FTP BR mode. Cellphones and the Nintendo Switch don't get STW as an option due to not being up to the task.

It's a shame they've pretty much abandoned STW. It was pretty fun, although as soon as they killed the lobby chat (due to rampant bots), it killed the ease of setting up groups for the harder challenges. My advancement stagnated right then, and I quickly lost interest as I couldn't make any progress.

Anyway, point is, they're only removing STW support for those on MAC desktops/laptops that can actually run it, which means about 14 people worldwide will be affected by this.

Stick it To The Man! is a surprisingly good game, I got it on the Switch after playing Flipping Death, which is a less-funny (but still very funny) "sequel".

Yay for free WD2, I've been mildly interested in it.

Kicking myself. I got on Newegg, saw two EVGA models still in stock. I stupidly didn't put either in my cart before trying to find out what the difference was between them. in the minute I spent determining one had LED lights and the other didn't, both sold out.

AMD is cheaper, although not so much in the Ryzen area anymore. If you're talking video cards, AMD isn't even in the same arena, they're effectively a Nintendo Switch versus a PS5. They've been talking about Big Navi for YEARS. YEARS. They were talking about it when the 2080ti launched. I can't imagine it'll be able to approach a 3080.

When you have to be VERY CLEAR with what benefits Ray Tracing gives you in your game, it’s clearly nothing anyone should be concerned with.

While I plan on getting a 3080, it’s for the absurd increase in rasterizing performance, not RTX. I think developers figured out “good enough” tricks a generation ago, so it’s difficult to see much benefit in true raytracing. I have no doubt that it’ll lead to more realistic scenes in games that strive for realism, but it truly won’t matter for 90% of games out there.

And here I thought this was going to be a game about vacuums. I figured that’s no weirder than Burger King’s games a few years back.

Yeah, these reviews are...not good. They're OK, but I was hoping for something with...I dunno, personality? Sounds like they focused too much on the economy and not enough on making sure the game attached to it is fun enough to deal with said economy.

Now, I'm sure it's "rose colored glasses" and all, but this doesn't look much different from the original game.

This is one game where I honestly don't care how much space it'll take up. It's likely to be incredible, and I'll have my hardware upgraded prior to its release. I'm hoping a 3080 can run this game at 1440p ultrawide, but if it struggles, I'll happily drop it to standard 16x9 to have it running on Ultra.

With the DirectStorage announcement, and with it being vague about working only on some systems, I'll be holding off on motherboard/processor replacement until there's more concrete information.

This might...MIGHT be the generation where consoles actually outperform PCs unless they're bleeding-edge, technologically. I'm not preaching "the end is nigh!", rather that we're likely to see new approaches to data storage and retrieval.

Neither console will match the power of a high end gaming rig. No one expects them to. Where they already DO excel, and will only get better at, is consistency. We all know that the stable hardware target of consoles allows devs to squeeze incredible amounts out of, spec-wise, a miserably lower end piece of hardware than PCs. This near-instant data loading will make smoothing out the consoles' framerates even easier for devs. A rock-solid 30 with clever motion blur feels better than a PC fluctuating between 52-60 FPS. You only need to look at the PS4's Spider-man and Uncharted 4 for proof, or the Xbox's Forza Horizon series.

So, this DirectStorage thing isn't just a neat new feature; it will likely become necessary within a couple years for new games.

They're going to HAVE to drop support for the older systems. I don't really understand Microsoft's position here, a new console should mean exclusive games that harness the muscle of that console. Otherwise, what's the POINT of the new generation? There's a case to be made for the Xbox One X, but original Xbones shouldn't be considered for backwards compatibility. Microsoft keeps making decisions for their consoles that seem like they weren't thought through for more than a minute.

Sony, yet again, is doing it "right". Some games will run on both, with the PS5 having better load times/framerate/texturing, and some will require the new hardware just to run properly at all.

Honestly, none of this matters to me personally, as I'll be playing any Xbox games on my pc (they did manage to make THAT happen quite well). My Xbone didn't even get unpacked when we moved a year and a half ago. The PS4 gets occasional usage, and always for exclusive games. Sony's exclusives are spectacular, and well worth the cost of a PS4 (Pro, in my case) to experience. Microsoft has had a much weaker exclusives list as of late.

They’re mad because they think that a corporate entity should pay them more, for the same feature they offer random people. Cry me a river. BK pulled a funny stunt, for pocket change. Streamers did it to themselves.

They’re also about to get BOMBARDED with other companies pulling the same stunt instead of getting a contract for endorsement. WaltC, everything on the Windows Store runs their weird file type. It’s designed to keep people from cheating in multiplayer games, but they use the same packaging for single player games.

I don’t care, but I can see why it would be a big deal to some people. The only MS store stuff I buy is Forza Horizon games anyway.

I disagree, the Criterion-made Hot Pursuit was a riot, especially in multiplayer.
