Sure, but Halo 4 ran smoothly on a 360. It’ll run fine on a decent/below average PC. It was an impossibly good looking game at the time, and Halo 5 was a disappointment because it didn’t look any better despite having new hardware.

And if by “modest” you mean “no one would actually consider it a gaming machine”, well then you’re SOL across the board.

While I'm interested in their raytracing benchmarks as well, I think the biggest win/loss here will be due to whoever can actually get their fuckin cards into people's hands. Nvidia's cards might as well not exist, we'll see if AMD is doing the same bullshit. Doesn't matter how awesome the specs are if no one can even buy one.

The lack of modding capability with windows store games is intentional. They absolutely do NOT want people fiddling around in them, as that same access that makes mods possible also makes cheating possible. Cross-platform, FAIR online play is their target. If their Xbox player base is suddenly flooded with cheaters, those players will think the cross-platform feature as more of a hindrance than a great way to have a larger player base. It’ll drive them to the closed ecosystem of the PlayStation.

No, you crybaby, that's absolutely wrong.

Windows Defender has been getting top marks for a couple years now, not sure why this article acts like it's news. It works well, sends minimal notifications, and doesn't bog the machine down.

The windows 10 thing is...not really a surprise. There will undoubtedly always be a small number of people whose hardware or software config is something MS didn't expect, and will cause unforeseen issues. I work in a computer repair store. I have not seen a single machine flip out from the Oct 13th update.

Is this the one Criterion is doing? If so, that raises my interest quite a bit. It’d be arcadey, for sure, but that’ll be fine if it feels solid, like the Burnout games (and Hot pursuit) did.

Although it’s possible my tastes have changed. Forza Horizon is absolutely the king of simcade racing, and god I love it. Maybe I wouldn’t be ok with Criterion’s gameplay anymore.

I'm a bit surprised at the 2021 Office release as well, they push O365 so hard that customers are oftensurprised to hear you CAN "just buy it once" still. The setup process is intentionally vague on MS's site, though, leading you to believe you HAVE to buy O365 even after inputting an O2019 key. They don't take you to the downloads page, they take you to the subscription page, so it looks like you have nothing. You have to go back to your account and then purchases menu to see it. Complete shitbag move by MS.

Edit: those security drones look so damn neat that I may actually get a home security system, one that's....well, basically a drone that the cats will find VERY interesting.

I think some people will happily take the lowest-quality experience in the game because they're excited about the gamePLAY. Personally, I'd rather buy it on a console than deal with the lowest-quality version, if that was what I had to choose. I'm *hoping* to have a 3080 by the time the game launches, but if not, my gtx1080 isn't exactly a slouch. Sure, no raytracing, but that could be an additional reason to replay the game later.

While I HOPE Big Navi is a contender, I will be doing what I can to get a 3080. AMD’s driver team has been a mess for years.

It's an odd show, for sure. We usually give shows half a season to get their footing; pilot episodes are entirely about setting the stage. From every review I watched, the 3080 is a monster. Is it QUITE as much faster than a 2080ti as claimed? in MOST cases, YES. That's ignoring RTX. Those possible double-ram versions that accidentally showed up have me hopeful that maybe we'll see them pop up sooner than later. It's VERY unlikely they accidentally released info for cards a year away.

I'm not sure if I'll go for a 20gb version or not. It'll really depend on the price premium. It'd be nice, but the 10gb will likely be just fine for anything coming in the next few years.

Unfortunately, The "Ultra" mode doesn't look remotely good enough to justify the horrible performance. I'm sure part of that is the limits of trying to drag a 13 year old game into 2020. It doesn't LOOK remotely as good as Crysis 3, but runs WAY worse. Watching the Linustechtips video where they run the original game and the new one, the differences are noticeable, but nowhere near the overhaul it SHOULD have gotten.
