damn right, Creston. I'd heard World Racing was....okay. not a bad game, but also not marvelous (mainly cause it lacked much multiplayer, which means notmuch longevity).

it IS extra pretty tho.

ok I've read a lot of bad things about you Fred, but hey

you're right. this game is pretty cool. I've been playing their beta releases for a long, long time. their focus is on the feel of the game, not the look, altho they've definitely started to pull in the slack on that matter. the cars look pretty decent (it's mostly the poor texturing that makes them look bad; they have INSANE polycounts), the shadows from the cars are amazing...the landscaping isn't all that great, but it mostly suffers from detail popup, it looks worse in motion than in screenies, oddly enough.

but it's fun.

huh. no mention in the fixes page as to whether the War3 patch fixes the problem of disappearing tooltips (which isn't a graphic-card problem, as it hits everyone at once in a multiplayer game).

I'll be shitty if they let the biggest problem in 1.10 slide.

edit: yes, they left the tooltip problem in. but golly gee, they fixed the news page for czech players. glad they could help, now maybe they might wanna pay attention to a problem that plagues EVERYONE.

I still don't see the fascination with plane-camping. it's not like when you get the plane that you're gonna last more than a minute in it (if anyone's near an AA turret). MAYBE 2, tops. it's like waiting for coaster rides at the amusement park.

the people in planes tend to get about 5 kills the whole time, unless they have impeccable aim, and even then, they don't ever end up at the top of the chart (or anywhere near). so WHY DO IT?

can a camper please explain why they insist on losing the game for their team because they'd rather stand around pulling their pud?

well, I just started playing some more UT2k3...mostly as a diversion, as it's *kinda* fun online, but god damn, 1942 is just too f'n cool.

anyway, 2k3 is spazzy DM action, and sometimes, that's exactly what you want to play. for that, it's ideal. 2k4 looks a lot like it's gonna try to be 1942 In Space, which can't POSSIBLY be a bad thing.

well okay, it CAN be, but they'd hafta try very very hard to fuck it up to the point of it not being fun.

okay, from everything I've read, it seems like the guy from AMDMB was told by one person, whose name I'm SURE he didn't get, that there was a media blackout. but then he got in, and there was no blackout. so isn't the problem with this guy who TOLD him there was a blackout?

or does that guy even EXIST, and this jackass was just making up a reason for not turning in any coverage for a while? then OOPS, SHIT, it turns around and bites him on the ass. Considering that the accusing party can't keep their story straight, and Sudhian and THG both state the same thing...sounds like it's just a case of Stupid FUckhead.

yeah, so I pull this patch, and now the game crashes out as soon as a hero is supposed to come out of a building. great. plays just fine unless I want a hero.

anyone play the supaa sushi race? might wanna put a "do not win race at work" warning on that. poorly drawn, tame cartoon nudity still gets ya in trouble.

yes, but no matter how bad the writing is this time, we know one fact about this game that hasn't even been mentioned yet, just from the screenshots.

I hate arbitrary release dates. EB has Frozen Throne in stock, but isn't allowed to sell it yet.

see, I don't see why this is such a big deal. they restrict R-rated movies (they enforce it here pretty strongly), why not M-rated games?

If this was a matter of being allowed to sell them at ALL or not, I'd be kinda pissed.

they didn't steal code. at least, bnet.d didn't. they watched what data was being sent by starcraft (and the war3 leaked beta) and built it around that.

oh, and bnet.d has more features (for starcraft, at least) than Blizzard's official servers.

hell, now I sound like a bnet.d team member. I'm not. a friend of mine runs a server with it that we use (only 17 people use it) so that we don't have to deal with the rampant cheating on blizzard's servers.

starting to wonder why I update my drivers. with the 9500=>9700 unlocker, you hafta install the drivers twice (two reboots) each time. and I really can't tell any difference anymore. what's changed? they don't list anything. they just plop new ones out without any mention of why they felt the need to.

is it me, or is there mention of a new Raven Shield map like every 20 minutes on Blue's?

swear to god, almost every time I check, the first or second post is "new raven shield map!". what are they up to now, 40? not saying that's BAD, quite the opposite. I may pick up the game just cause there appears to be more maps for download than the game comes with in the first place.

well, I'm not trying to cover Bungie's ass here, but *supposedly* the guys driving the vehicles decide where they're gonna go AS they do it, not scripted. but yeah, there did appear to be quite a bit of scripted stuff.

compare it to Halo, tho. the beginning part of Halo was scripted sequence city, but it tapers off, leaving you with more combat, less story. they wanna give you the story first, methinks, and then let you play around.

ooOOOo, a game guide. will it be like PCXL's Serious Sam strategy guide?

"circle strafe. continuously. if you wanna mix it up, circle strafe in the opposite direction."

it's probably contained on a single sheet of paper. not that it matters, the game looks worse than the first Serious Sam, and throws 20 waves of identical enemies at you...then a slightly different 20 waves, then another. then maybe you get to go thru a doorway and do the same thing in the next room. rinse, repeat, till you get to an absurdly easy boss...
I mean, did ANYONE find the demo fun? ANYONE????

personally, I ended up playing the second encounter more than the first, as the levels were more varied. my fav is still the "winter wonderland" level that progresses from a cheery mountain villiage to the depths of hell, accompanied by a weird techno-rock version of Jingle Bells.

and all you get is a sticker in the new pack? that's ridiculously lame, and I agree with whoever said it was probably put together entirely by the publishers.
