It's entirely due to pressure from payment processors, they know EXACTLY what makes money on their platform.
They could follow PornHub's route of using alternate payment processors, basically bouncing the pay through a crypto exchange, where it goes in as cash, converts momentarily to crypto, and then is converted back to cash for the person at the other end.

I mean, I get it; Mastercard and Visa have shareholders who are largely old stodgey conservatives who hate sites like OnlyFans. They can't go after them for having adult content unless someone suggests that they may host content of someone who didn't give consent. That gives them a loophole to cut off payment processing for nearly anything with nudity. So OnlyFans, who somehow didn't learn this lesson from when it hit PH, is likely going to have to chase down a different way to pay its contributors. That's really it.

Both games technically, at one point, used the same game engine. Playground games altered it to fit their open world games. Playground, btw, is made up of employees of other racing game studios. Remember the Project Gotham games? Those guys are the core of Playground; why would you expect anything OTHER than simcade here?

Index hasn’t fallen off the top ten since it was launched. I have the controllers with an OG Vive, but at this point I’m waiting on a wireless headset that isn’t made by Facebook.

I know the Vive can technically be wireless but it’s a bit of a shitshow. A friend let me borrow his at one point and it ran like crap, with the transmitter within 7 feet and all open air.

Mildly concerning. Keep in mind, RTS games are a WAY bigger hit in Asia than anywhere else. It makes sense. I'm not saying I'm thrilled about it, but I *DO* think Tencent might throw enough money at the project that it won't be a barebones production. SC2 is staggering in scope, when you consider the campaigns, multiplayer, moddability, and (my fav) Co-op. It'd be a shame for them to make something that feels...small, comparatively.
There IS a game called Iron Harvest that looks promising. I may pick that up. I worry it's going to play more like the Company of Heroes games, but that could just be the aesthetic. I HATE CoH, with units that are magically invulnerable to all but EXACTLY whatever specialty unit I don't have anywhere near it.

I'm....not surprised. Blizzard doesn't have any direct tcp/ip connectivity for any of its games made for at least a decade. having it in there at all in the beta was either for testing, or a leftover if they really did build the game on top of the original.

I hope they didn't build it on the original. It's how Warcraft 3 Remastered was done, and the limitations imposed by the original engine are rather painful. You'd hope they'd have learned their lesson, but since Blizz doesn't seem to learn lessons quickly, maybe they'll figure it out on their 4th or 5th remaster.

Yikes, the VR version is just as expensive as the normal one, and you can’t just buy one and pay $10 or something for the VR functionality.
I wonder if they’re cross-play compatible, or if the VR version will have zero players in a month.

Lovecraft Country was such a disappointment. It never figured out what it wanted to be, and the ending didn’t make much sense.
The most suspenseful/best part of the entire show was in the first episode, and it has nothing to do with the supernatural. It’s a 25MPH chase scene that is incredibly tense. That first episode was fantastic, but it quickly wanders off in the rest of them.

This is the most recent version of the game, they're going to drop their first-party racing sim series without something to replace it? Forza Horizon is NOT a replacement. Maybe it doesn't bring in the money.

So, if you PURCHASE the game, you can keep playing it and can re-download it later as well. If you get it through gamepass, I assume that's not true when they get EOL'd.

Valve hasn't raised their rates at all, despite being the king of digital game storefronts. That's not "abusing their position". Wolfire is just cranky that they're not as cheap as the cheapest one.

Having said that, the problem I have with your assessment and the WHOs as well, is this ridiculous focus on cases verses deaths.

The focus on cases vs deaths is because people don't always walk away from living through covid unscathed. I have two friends who have what may be permanent, awful side effects. Neither one was ever in such bad shape to be hospitalized. One hasn't been able to taste or smell anything for over a year now. The other has had that whole "brain fog" thing for months. neither has seen an improvement and their doctors have said they can hope it'll get better, but to try to come to terms with accepting it as their new normal.

You only see it as "just another flu" because you haven't had to deal with it, that much is clear. There's video after video after video of people JUST LIKE YOU, Duke, who end up getting covid and then trying to tell others how bad it is. None of them seem to grasp that their testimony will fall on deaf ears because their own opinion wasn't swayed by those who did the same before them. Learn from the dead, man.

I have only played the first expansion. It is nowhere NEAR as engaging as the main game. The second one is Alan Wake based, but I haven't played it as I have a monitor whose resolution is a bit too much for my video card. I'm waiting to play it (and Cyberpunk, and a few other big-muscle games) until I can finally land a 3080. The monitor is a 1440p Ultrawide (3440 or something like that across), being fed by a gtx 1080. It's a struggle. Control runs at like...40 fps. It's not awful, but I'm a picky bitch and I'd rather wait until I can experience it way smoother (without sacrificing image quality).

Duke's logic is the same as morons who won't wear seat belts. They've seen one or two stories or videos where someone was thrown free of their car and it saved them. Also, other stories where the seatbelt caused grievous harm, or kept the occupant from escaping a burning vehicle. There people take these one-in-ten-million instances and say "oh man, that seatbelt is SO DANGEROUS, I'm not gonna wear one!"

It's simply a matter of your odds of success (survival, in this case). He's betting against the odds, likely because he lives in a place where Covid hasn't run rampant yet. His assumption that he "should have already gotten it" ignores how many people around him may have been actively trying to avoid getting other people sick (the mask was never to protect YOU, it's to protect others FROM you).

This will all boil down pretty fast once insurance companies start saying "if you aren't vaccinated, you *or your surviving family* will be responsible for any medical bills you incur due to Covid". You won't find a company offering sane-priced flood insurance on a house that's in a flood plain. Medical insurers will soon enough decide that since 95%+ of covid hospitalizations are now unvaccinated people, they won't cover those people.
