the Battle Royale part is shaping up. not as robust as PUBG, but it's made from a COMPLETELY different sort of game. Save The World is...so very, very different from BR.

Poor poor Epic, gotta try and sell as many of those $20 skins (in an early access game no less).

Iíd argue that Fortnite doesnít FEEL like early access. The Save The World portion has been running unique events pretty much every month. The only EA game that feels even LESS incomplete is Factorio.

Since you earn v-bucks at a decent rate in STW, the concern is the MASSIVE number of Battle Royale people who are playing for free, yet want the custom (visual changes only) goodies. Since you can use v-bucks in either mode, STW players can buy BR gear without spending another dime. Epicís concern is that, unchecked, people like this would kill any income the BR mode would bring in. Last I checked, no one made games of this caliber for the fun of it.

This happened a year or two back, itís not a recent story. Still awesome. Thatís a restaurant in Indianapolis called Papa Roux, and itís awesome Cajun food. Itís a long drive from my place but I still get down there now and again. I recently actually wondered if that kid still works there.

Amusingly, I clicked on the title saying ďthat same thing happened down by Papa Roux a couple years back!Ē aaaand it IS that story.

I worked at an Amazon facility for about 10 months. The work is exhausting but itís warehouse work. Very simple and pays better than almost any other warehouse job. People complain because the system doesnít allow them to goof off.

If they wanted to lower it to 10 Mbit, that wouldn't particularly bother me, 10 Mbit (assuming you can actually get 10 Mbit and it is not some kind of marketing lie) is more than sufficient for probably 95+% of the population. That said, you didn't indicate how low they want to move the mark, and sadly I'm guessing it is even lower than 10 Mbit.

I don't agree 10Mbit is sufficient. We are moving toward streaming, 10 mbit is already cutting it close just for a single HD Netflix stream. But why do we always just assume a family does just one thing on the net? What if me, wife and kids want to stream different things to our devices, while being online doing other things as well? I have 1000Mbit, I feel 250Mbit is a good fair number with a modern family, I just took what I got due to availability. What I'd aim for a minimum would be 100Mbit.

This isn't just about a single person living in today's world.

This. This right here. I deal with a LOT of customers who complain that video streaming is terrible, what they MEAN is ďwhen everyone is trying to watch something different, in HDĒ. An average 1080p feed eats up 12mb, 4 eats a MINIMUM of 25. Even a 50x10 connection struggles to keep a family of 4 happy.

But, letís be fair on the Rural America thing: these people *chose* to live miles away from a city, they knew the trade off. I am absolutely against incumbent services blocking a community-funded internet, but EACH HOUSE in farmland would cost a couple grand to hook up to a new feed (fiber, as thereís literally no reason to run anything else). I absolutely believe that cost should be shouldered by the people benefitting from it.

News Comments > VIVE Pro and Wireless Adaptor Announced
7. Re: Out of the Blue Jan 8, 2018, 21:49 HoSpanky

I was....underwhelmed by this. The increased resolution just brings it up to the Samsung Odyssey's level. The wireless adapter is so far away that it's ENTIRELY possible that a headset with wireless built in will launch before then.
The higher resolution shouldn't add TOO much GPU strain, as people can simply cut down their super sampling.

Unless they offer a VERY compelling price on the new headset, I'll wait for a proper second generation headset. I'm still pretty happy with my Vive, although it sees generally very little playtime anymore. That, right there, is also why they're gonna have to throw out something better than "as good as Samsung's WMR headset" to get me to buy another.

The team that makes the Forza Horizon series is comprised of devs from several "dead" racing series...not really who you'd go to for an action RPG. Maybe they're interested in the way the game engine functions, and we may be looking at a liquidy-smooth open-world adventure.

Glad I chose an AMD Ryzen chip for my new build. It was kind of a hail mary that's paid off in this situation, and in benchmarks. Wonder if this crazy shit will have an impact on Intel's dominance.

Mreh, the Meltdown fix has no discernible performance difference for gaming, which is the only thing I do on my PC that strains it whatsoever.

Yes, we know the Wii U was crap.
They should have never used reused the Wii branding on it.

The Wii U wasnít crap, it wasnít named/advertised properly. People thought it was just a new Wii (using the same games) and didnít buy it because their current Wii worked fine or wasnít used at all. It was a surprisingly good machine...while ps4/xbone owners were concerned with which console had 900p vs 1080p at 30fps, EVERY first party Wii U game ran at a solid 1080/60.

Due to a stupid system in place on Origin, I have maxed out my number of installs for Paradise. They have a Lifetime Maximum number of installs, even on older titles. Origin support, to their credit, tried issuing me another key to effectively reset that counter, but it didnít work.

So Iím over it. Forza Horizon 3 isnít quite as gonzo of an open world racer, but itís decently close, especially with the Hot Wheels expansion.

Rocket League, it's the best league in the world!

Do love me some Rocket League split screen with the kids.

Seriously, you can get ANYONE to play rocket league. Even if theyíre terrible! The game FEELS like the skill gap is only JUST out of reach, and everyone focuses at a level you never see outside of competitive gaming. The game succeeded largely due to giving it away for free for a month on PSN (and also because itís awesome). The previous game had too much of a mess of a title, and SOUNDED like a shitty overreaching indie title. The idea of playing soccer with nimble but squirrely r/c cars is easy to grasp, sounds fun, and the game backs that up with actual fun, putting zero bullshit in your way.

All the modes/maps theyíve added for free are impossible to complain about...you get an awful lot of game for under $20. It almost REQUIRES that you play with your friends, which is another big part of its success. Hopefully theyíve been working on another neat game thatís not just a sequel; indie games like this sadly become one hit wonders most of the time, and the studio behind them can never crawl out of the shadow of their first successful game.

Not gonna quote previous people because itís a pain to edit down on a phone, but:

Beamer, Overwatch is a bit overhyped, but itís a rock solid team shooter. Each character plays quite differently, and are absolutely designed to compliment each other. The gifs you see that are supposedly sneaky things are usually someone pulling off a kill their character had no right to succeed at. I donít play it very often, but when I get in there with my friends, itís tons of fun.

As for Lawbreakers...it just doesnít have anything in the ads on Steam that makes me say ďoh shit I have to have that!Ē. Overwatch has ads like that. One of my favorite games this year has a more compelling ad than Lawbreakers (x-morph defense), and itís a tiny indie game. Lawbreakersí awful sellthru is an unfortunate mix of poor timing, advertising, and visual design. Ten years ago, Iíd have been ALL ABOUT a game like that. But I can get a pretty decent near-identical looking shooter on Epicís launcher in the new UT. It looks JUST as generic, but itís free and pretty damn solid.

How many of these players would immediately disappear if they couldnít sell items outside of their country?

Iím quite sure the game isnít $30 in China. So farmers buy cheap accounts, selling loot to Americans. As long as they get more for that sold loot than the account cost them, they donít care if it gets banned. If they couldnít sell outside of China, would the cheating drop? Playercount most certainly would. How much of Blueholeís income is from transaction fees on those item sales?

Itís a system that benefits the developer, and as long as they keep saying ďlook at all the bans!Ē, players will believe that the company takes the cheating seriously. But from all accounts, it seems the cheating benefits the developer...why would they take a HARD look at how to stop it?

This is not unique to PUBG, which is why CS:GO is almost always in the top seller list.

Right? I mean, up until very recently I had ONE friend with a VR kit. NOW, Iíve got 3 friends with them...full crew! We may all snag this during the steam sale.

My first impression of this game was terrible, I refunded it within an hour.

I'm still not exactly sure why, probably because I figured I was missing something, I decided to buy it again for another shot. For the first 50-100 hours, I still hated it. I didn't like the mechanics, kept dying to what I thought was bs, couldn't understand why I wasn't good at it, etc.

1,000 hours later, it's my 3rd most played game on Steam, and I love it.

Sounds like you probably were an easy target for tobacco companies. ďThis thing is awful, and has literally no upside to it, but do it enough and you wonít be able to go without it!Ē ďOK!Ē

Rollover time for Steam is usually 1pm, which is around when the comments went from ďI grabbed thisĒ to ďitís not free nowĒ.

I figured that if itís a one day thing on Steam, thatís when itíd end so I snagged it immediately thru the app.
