<so it is most likely that the game would VANISH and NO ONE would play it. Is this what you fools want?>

You have some kind of strange concept that we love Freespace because of the license... We love Freespace because of the games they were and the experience they gave us.

You do not need the Freespace license to make an equally amazing space sim.

So no, we don't care if we never see another game labeled Freespace ever again.

No. We didn't play Freespace because of the universe, we played it because it delivered the ultimate space sim experience available. Yeah the story rocked, but it was emergent with the gameplay

Immersive, rich, gameplay is one thing the Battlecruisers have never gotten down. They're too focused on creating an expansive system.

All the best space sims ever made have been all about details important to a single player experience... Something Smart titles have not had scope for

The whole 'lack of sales' thing is the least of many reasons Uru Live was canceled.

Uru Live was ahead of it's time and a laggy mess, so lagged that most the people who signed up were never cleared to access Live. It was pretty much doomed one way or another

That being said, Uru is still a breathtaking experience

from what I hear, Derek Smart is like the bully of the gaming community, minus the inspiring fear

#25 It's completely 3D and different from the slide show format, amazing that you bothered to type up a four paragraph rant without even reading the press release?

graphics are looking pretty good, I wonder how it'll play...

#4, if you figured out the final number systems on your own in Riven? I'm astounded!

Sorry, but there will never be a Star Trek game with assasination or sabotage.

It's in Paramount's big Star Trek bible, the protagonists have to be altruists

Digital Rights Management.

it contacts a server to make sure you have the rights to use the content you're trying to open.

it's automatic, you won't even notice it.

because they're too lazy to upload a non-drmed version. Or they want to activate DRM restrictions later.

Essentially, they're allowing complete access now, but they may want to restrict it later (to shut it down)

protecting demo software this way is probably a good thing, often publishers don't want to do demos because they become freeware. this gives them control
