I've recently read an in-depth article about the £2.3m Zano Drone and, at least for that project, the problem was not over-spending, but simply the fact that the technology isn't there yet.
I think that is the biggest problem for some of these projects, the owners are just not realistic in terms of what is technologically possible.
Well, aside from the outright scams.

Apple pays Apple to put Apple software on Apple devices?

I'm quite sure that Apple will have a bigger profit with a device that has (for example) iTunes pre-installed than one without.

Also, Apple pre-installs quite a bit of non-Apple software.

(Disclaimer: don't own any Apple device, but have to do with them at work)

Funny how this KS stalled right after the give away ended.

I don't think this new one is going to carry them over the mark. but the game will fund, most likely they will get a lot in the last few days.

They have 29 days left. They made $1,158,773 of their $1,250,000 goal. They only need to make $100,000 more in 29 days.
I can't see how anything "stalled" or how anybody can have any doubt that this will be funded in the next two or three days.

$45 for an Early Access game is a bit steep imho.
Especially if you consider that all JA games after JA 2 were either a bit garbage, rather terrible, or complete trash.
And sadly, I'm not having high hopes for this.

Just FYI, while the steam version of UFO Aftermath in principle works on Windows 7, it is sometimes so slow (regardless of system specs) that it is effectively unplayable.
No clue if this happens for everyone.

[...]the guys at Phoenix Interactive see themselves as the victims of intolerance and hostility.
Having read the article, I suspect that it's their own intolerance and hostility that is the problem here.

I would even accept a lot of hassle to get rid of Windows if I could be certain that I get the majority of my games (say 90%) to run under SteamOS.

Sadly, that isn't possible for now.

Looking at the comments at the steam forum, it seems that these versions are rather buggy.
I considered buying them for the convenience of having a easy way to install and play them, but it seems they are just as difficult install and run as if I used my old CDs.

Reading through the comments on the Steam forum, this really seems like a quick hack job to make some money with a single-player campaign.

So my advice is to avoid it, just like the browser version.

A fine example why I hate this "Public Relation" speech:
There are setbacks, the game will be delayed, but don't you worry, "Today is a big day for everyone on the Marvel Heroes team!". Everything is fine. In fact, everybody should be grateful!

Never admit that the company is less than 100% perfect.

How can testing cosmetics on animals save millions of lives?

Procter & Gamble is not a pharmaceutical company, its products include pet foods, cleaning agents and personal care products.

Yes, it was terrible. Not only was it the most blatant pay-to-win I have ever seen, it's also very boring.
Not a good sign if you want people to pay for every little thing; decent Mercenaries, decent ammunition, better base buildings, etc etc.

In short, a terrible game. I don't think there is anything of substance that can be rescued for the Steam release.

Why film cameras are better than digital cameras.
I honestly thought at first that this was a satire, because nothing in that advertisement makes any sense AT ALL.
But alas, it's real (though almost 2 1/2 years old)

I own (usually more than once)
SimCity (and 2 expansions, SimCity 2000, SimCity 3000, and SimCity 4 with Rush-hour.
I think it's safe to say that I like SimCity. But they lost me as a customer for the next installment.
