Being an EQ players who has been with the game for about 3 years now, married to a wife who's been playing juust as long I have a few things to say.

Are we addicted? Probably.

But you know what? When we had to decided betwene EQ and having food in the firdge, accounts were cancled for a while. Did we ever not live up to the reponsiblity we have as a parent and as adults because of EQ? No.

You see, we even allow our kids to play, but if we ever notice their social life being eveyrthing short of total reject status because of EQ, we'll get rid of it. Same goes for ourselves. And I do believe that every adult out there has the power to make these choices when it comes to games like EQ. And it's all up to the parents to control how much time their kids spend in front of a computer or playing EQ.

As far as I remember Trespasser did not support 3d accelrators upon it's release. They added some big patches later on though not even those could save the game.

Don't get me wrong, I loved Trespasser, the part where you boot up the Ingen computer systems while Hammond talks on about how they first extracted or fixed the DNA along with the short bit of music send shivers down my spine. Game had alot of potential but didn't really live up to it's promises, but I loved it anyways.

I realize it's probably nothing special for people who overlock regulary, or people who know alot more about computers then I do.

But I think it's cool that the Overdrive(tm) function is telling me that my Raedon car is at 28c and hnese running in 526mhz. I must admit, for the price, I like my little 9600XT

And so far they are working fine without SP1.

To me it dosen't matter if they stole the HL2 source code, or launch codes for some ICBM's.

If you steal ANY kind of data from someone elses computer should be raided, and trialed and punished.

Yeah, I had the feeling it wasn't. COnsidering they tried selling UT2003K and Unreal 2 almost at the same time, didn't they?

Oh well, another good developers house bites the dust. So much for my hopes of a Shanara sequel :/

I remember meeting Jason Hall in an IRC channel a few years ago. Seemed like an okay enough guy.

But why would any self respecting game developer let themselves be hired on by a company like Warner? Must be some paycheck he's getting, because I don't think it'll be the quality games they will release (NOT).

Good to know about the +restart 1 command line thing.

Sadly it is too late for me, having listend to "Challenge Everything" one too many times, I now hide under the desk crying like a little girl everytime anyone in my house mentions the words:

EA, Battelfield, 1942, tanks, helicopters, Challenge, everything etc. etc.

/sigh

Yet another "leak".

It's just getting annoying now, almost a point where I'd suspect the developers are spreading this "leak" stuff on purpose for PR reasons.

Though of course that's just my own conspriacy theory about the demons from Hell from Doom coming back to revenge their defeat and slaughter in countless LAN coop games.

Errg... edit won't work right now.

Anyways.

I agree with whomever posted CoD borrowing heaviliy from Enemy at the Gates, it also took alot from Band of Brothers.

Yeah, some of these events did happen, however with a little research there could have been plenty of scenario's that wouldn't have involved exactly the same troops involved in those shows/movies. But why bother? People watch these movies and then get exactly what they saw in them, and I guess most people not so educated in World War II are quiet happy with a product like CoD, while others (myself included) get bored after the first 5 minutes. Thankfully CoD takes only about 5 hours to finish on Hard in the first run.

About the weapons:

Yeah, they are weapons that were in use, however I simply can't consider them well modelled. They follow a pretty basic Rock-Paper-Scissors theme. And they couldn't even take the time to include the proper pistol for the germans or russians.

Sure, the Luger P09 is very popular, but it was quickly replaces by the Walther P38 9mm pistol, at least MoH got that one right.

Oh well, I'm preaching against a storm here, people for some unexplainable reason like CoD and it'll probably end up Game of the Year in many places, even though it dosen't deserve that title at all.

Call of Duty for Game of the Year?

Oh no. I mean seriously. I was ver ydisappointed by this game. The Singlerplayer was hardly a challenge, and the multiplayer mode is nothing but Quake3 style bunnyhopping contests with wanna-be World War II weapons.

Hidden&Dangerous 2 get's my vote. Very detailed and accurate weapons, and alot of them. Very nice missions with many ways to solve them, stealth and open out assault solutions to most missions. Graphics are good and the multiplayer with it's custom inventory loaduts and presets was great too. Sadly this game never got the hype CoD had.

Just my 2 reichsmark.

Well, since I didn't get my hand on the Alpha I didn't know when it was dated from.

But hey, if people are impressed with an Alpha that old, that raises my hopes even more.

I don't even expect this to be the NEW halflife of it's time, but a decent, none-WWII FPS that requires more then running and gunning.

Before I buy a game I have doubts about I generally spend an hour reading all kinds of reviews, previews etc. about it.

I don't really look for the ultimate "This game sucks, or this gam is the best ever" kind of review, but I do look for how well the game runs, if there are any major bugs.

For consoles as well as PC games I also look as to if there are any major complaints about the controls setup etc. are mentioned.

I read about Stalker once, looked at a couple of screenshots and the game just felt right to me, so I won't spend time reading about it, I'll just buy iy when it's released and hope for the best

PS: Don't drink and post.

I also wanted to mention if you would be to play the leaked alpha to remember that this is probably a version ment for the press, and may have some or many features still missing either because they aren't impleted yet or the makers of the game simply didn't want anyone from the outside play with them yet.

/shrug - Just my 2 cents.

I'm really looking forward to this game.

Not only because of all the features, but the weapons they plan on including so far. I'm somewhat of a weapon nut and they got a few good ones coming.

They vehicles look like fun too

I agree about the Campaign's. They feel unpersonal, boring, cold. Just like like IL2. That's my biggest problem with current Flight Sim's.

Anyone remember Wings of Glory by Origin? Man, I loved the story in that game.

Very worth it.

Started playing around noon yesterday, it's no 4:30 AM here and I just stopped playing, I think my eyes are bledding or something.

I've had 1 crash happen so far after the running the games for a good 10 hours, other then that, no problems at all.

And I really had a good laugh when I saw "You must gather your party before venturing forth" on my screen

My wife and kids love the game too, see how easy it is to make a happy familiy?
