Okay, I understand the whole free speech thing. But would it be all that bad for the gaming industry to work together with certain groups and people to try to at least get video game retailers to check ID cards?

I don't see how this would be such a big deal, no one complains when they get carded for smokes or alochol.

I hate censorship, and I love games but I also make sure I know what the kids in my house (late teens, all of them) are watching and playing, and if there is something I or my wife disagree with we will explain that to our kids. I just don't understand why this our industry is not one bit willing to at least try to calm certain people down.

Did anyone read the "Has yet to be confirmed" and "may be" parts?

The full version of Soldiers has a Tutorial, and of course a manual. It's a little bit like a point and click adventure game, it's just tough learning everything in the fast pace of the demo mission.

Reading readme.txt = teh win

I've so been waiting for this game. I admit, I'm a bit tired of WWII games, mostly of the MoH/CoD kind as they are about as realistic as well, I can't even think of anything THIS unrealistic.

Soldiers is a pretty originial game, can't wait to pick it up.

I thought it was very refrshing actually. It's easy to get into, and you don't have to spend 2+ hours just to accomplish something.

I just installed this, and played for 2 hours straight. It's still so addicting.

Though when you install it, they'll try to install the Groundcontrol II MP demo, but you can just cancel that. Also had a few issues with the voice-overs in mission brifiesing but since they're both in text and voice it isn't much of an issue

I'm so happy they realsed this for free. I got the game when it first was released but my disc got lost, or stolen. And I couldn't even find this game in any value game bins around town.

And, I've started downloading after 10:00pm pst and it was a 10 minute waiting time, not too bad for a free game, and it's pretty painless to get to if you're already a Gamespy user anyways.

I realize it's a promotion thing, but still nice of them to do.

I don't know if the spam idea will work or not. But I do hope that if something like this becomes active they will warn users they are about to be unplugged because I'm sure there's enough people out threre who simply don't know that their computer is beinged us like this.

I understand they are in the buisness of making money, as is every "good" company out there. Really, I do undrstand that.

But as a gamer reading this press release which ends with listing games on rather forgetable movies like Van Helsing, The Chronicles of Riddick and so on, all I have to say to that is Screw you VU

I also agree with what has been said already. Games just aren't original anymore, and I realize it's hard to come up with a totally new concept everytime a developer creates a new game, but there's always room to mix around designs and gameplay mechanics.

Today you just don't really see a lot of that anymore, but then, I don't see that happening with console games either. Yeah, there's some games that do something new or different for both platform every now and then. But they seem to be rare.

But I also remember a time before the PS2 and XBox etx. rolled around were plenty of people predicted the death of PC Games and I'm happy to say they were wrong. Back then anyways...

I'll skip this one too.

And I know what you mean, the game lacks feeling. It feels sterile and it just didn't leave a good impression at all. Can't explain it exactly either.

Wow, I never though I could get this tired of any single game franchise but Medal of Honor did it.

The first MoH was fun for about 2 hours or however long it took someone to beat it but lost appeal shortly there after. I'm so sick and tired of World War II Games based in Saving Private Ryan, like the movie was anything more then some sick and twisted hollywood version of this war anyways.

Oh wow, that was like watching a movie. I loved Silent Hunter II even with all it's flaws but this blows everything out of the water that ever atempted to simulate World War II submarines.

Now if they can just pull the campaign system off, I'll be happy until the day I die. I mean I'm still stunned from how good it looked, not evne HL2 or Doom3 had that effect on me.

You are right about that. But Origin has been a big part of my "gaming life" and the history of the gaming industry and so while this isn't real news, it's still sad it's happening.

And now I'm wondering if I'm a little to fanatic about video games.
