I had the same problem. I have Bioshock installed to my E drive, and the patcher had fits.

Eh. This, and their apparent total apathy towards PC gamers in general (PC isn't even mentioned on their official page, hyping that the game is for Playstation 3 and Xbox 360) is pushing this down into my "couldn't care less" catagory.

Unfortunately, to address balance issues between PC gamers and console gamers, PC gamers will only be allowed to use the keyboard to control their planes.

Wow. Pretty slick web-page there.

Like posters above me, I have a pre-order (it was a birthday gift) and I'm supposed to get the beta code. GoGamer never sent me the code, though.

Clicking on the "Sign up for the Beta!" link on the Hellgate page gives me a 403 "Forbidden" error. Going to http://www.hellgatelondon.com/beta reveals "if you have a pre-order beta code, redeem it here..." which just goes back to the 403 page.

Not exactly confidence inspiring.

WoW day night cycle is silly.

Be that as it may, but the fact of the matter is that they still do it with a heck of a lot more people on the server. Saying "Oh, we can't do it without DX10" is a cop-out, and a weak one at that.

I'm still trying to wrap my head around the entire "DX9 won't do Day/Night cycles because of the server load" thing. I mean, wtf?

WoW has been doing a pretty decent job of day and night cycles in a multiplayer environment for over two years now.

Especially since it's going to be published by EA. And we know how "impressive" EA's record is of keeping the servers alive after they're made their money selling the game boxes.

I'm sorry, but I'm supposed to feel guilty because I want to control the content that is being downloaded into my house over the cable modem connection that I'm paying for?

Yeah, sure.

I use Adblock Plus to block ads, true. But I also use it (with NoScript) to help with privacy and computer safety. It helps stem the flow of tracking cookies and malware/spyware from installing on my machine, especially when the young ones are using it. But I guess I'm supposed to feel guilty because of that...

I think I trashed the e-mail, but if you log into your PlayNC account (www.plaync.com) and click "Account" and then "Manage", I have a link on the right hand side sending me to the beta test. I also used to play City of Heroes so maybe that's why I got the invite, but I'm not sure.

Being an owner of Guild Wars, I got an e-mail telling me that I can join the Tabula Rasa beta if I wanted to. I'm not sure if I want to bother.

Seems interesting, but I just have a bad feeling about it...

I am trying to figure out how they justify $16.34 for what is essentially them playing and recording a MIDI soundtrack for a 17-year-old game. Just a bit of perspective... I would not be surprised if a good percentage of the people reading Blue's News were not even alive when Wing Commander was released.

That being said, if I was going to pay over $16 for this, I expect Mark Hamill to come over to my house and hum it for me personally.

(yes, yes, I realize that Hamill didn't come on board until Wing Commander III. Calm down fanboys.)

Why can't all internet disputes end this way?

Why don't you just shut the heck up?!?

(just kidding! I kid because I love!)

My poor attempt at humor aside... add me to the list of people eagerly awaiting for this game. I think it may actually tear me away from Warcraft: Burning Crusade for a while, and that's saying something!

I'm old enough to remember the first System Shock with fond memories. And, in my opinion, System Shock 2 was the best game ever made*. I'm still upset that no matter what I do, I can't get it to work on my machine without crashing a couple of minutes in. I could listen to sound clips of SHODAN and still get a shiver up my spine.

* - But then again, I also think Tron 2.0 is the second-best game, so take it as you will.
