The Dan,
If u r getting better performance with these drivers under Secret Weapons Demo, you'll really notice smoother play when running standard BF42. I find the SW demo to be the biggest sys/framerate hog of all the BF maps (with the exception of Battle of Britain map).

As far as 3DMark03, I should have mentioned that the performance as well is a few hairs better with these drivers, not just "Points" wise.

Peace.

I like these drivers a lot, and for at least three reasons: (first my card, G4 Ti 4400)
1) BF42 no longer has framerate stutters/hickups, like previous versions of the Det's (e.g., I can now run the game in 1280x960 Rez very smoothly with no stutter).
2) Image quality is superior over the previous Det's.
3) 3DMark03 performs the best under this new driver set (I get at least 50 points more)

Peace!

You need to do a little research before you conclude that the weapons are "fake." All of the weapons in Secret Weapons were actually being used and tested during WW2, even though most didn't see a lot of actual combat during the war. The Germans had a lot of things up their sleeves that didn't win them the war but maybe could have had they had more time and man resources during the later half of the conflict.

Their (Hitler's) Assault Rifle, for instance, would have been a lot more devistating had they not run out of men towards the end that could have used the weapon in greater masses. This rifle was way ahead of anything the allies were using in this category. Luckily the Allies, once again, had the far superior man power at the conclusion of the war.

Dude, WELL SAID! I couldn't agree more. I live in Washington state by the way. And so many dumb asses here (i.e., very young parents--and some with not the highest IQ's) crap out buttloads of kids and some can't even raise them properly. No wonder the bill sponsors are having a picnic with this one.

...that it smells like Ritual is going to fok up would originally looked like a potentially great game by the first developers that put a lot of time into it. Why the hell would Ritual scrap pretty much everything, and then rebuild from scratch essentially? What boat am I missing here?

the developers will contribute more to the graphics engine as a higher priority than the solid gameplay concept already in place.

Yep, dude, I think your about right. You're pretty much in a minority to think that about Half-Life's SP game. Pretty much the bulk of the gaming community and its critics contend that Half-Life is one of the greatest SP games in PC gaming history. <clearing throat> Just a reminder: Half-Life upon release won GOTY as observed by over 30 different gaming magazines. I think have HL had more going for it than just subsequent mods and a "strong story" as you put it.

Peace.

Hmmmmmmmmm. Let's see, what is about the 1.2 version Patch that doesn't improve enough the game over the original version?

My experience with BF42 version 1.2 is that it is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyy better than 1.0 as well as 1.1.

No, please, keep doing what you have been doing, Dice. BF42 rocks all over MoH. (No offense, Jaguart.) I just left a MoH Clan that I was involved with for basically one simple reason: MoH just doesn't have the depth of play the BF42 has. Bring on the vehicles of war.

Bring on the Destroyers, Battleships, Subs, Fighters, Fighter Bombers, B17's, Jeeps, Half-Traks, Tigers, Shermans, AA guns, Heavy Artillery, and more. Aracade or not, with all the vehicles of war and obvious variety, BF is closer to the feel of WW2 than just about any other shooter out there!

This upcoming expansion pack just adds more pleasure to the game's overall purpose.

Peace!

If cost isn't too much of an issue, is there any way you can swap that card out of there for something better.

Matrox needs to lead, follow, or get out of the way. I have yet to see something as good as ATI or nVidia coming from Matrox. Just my personal opinion.

In fact, the first Matrox card I ever bought supposedly for 3D gaming was the Mystique (spelling?), and it didn't even support OpenGL at the time. (It was returned to the store within 3 days after purchasing it.)

"90% of Those 'gamers' are 5-10 year olds , and the rest are idiots that think the 'net' is some government project and refuse to get inet access.

"I wouldn't want to meet anyone that (in these days) would still sit around and play with himself against a bunch of scripted idiot computer characters."

Your statement sounds pretty snobbish and arrogant. Thanks for giving praise to the worthy SP games out there.

VERY sweet indeed. These shots are obviously on par with Doom 3 visuals. And let's face it: yes, Doom 3 is highly anticipated and I'm sure will be a great game when it comes out; BUT, I personally think -- partly based on the fact that Warren Spector is overseeing the development -- Deus Ex 2 is going to be a better game. It will probably have more replay value, not to mention a more immersive story and deeper gameplay value.

I think these are some of the best screenshots I've seen yet. The potential for excellent MP is definitely there with this sequel. Let's keep our fingers crossed!
