when AMD was first to 1Ghz, then speed was key

when AMD ramped up its dual core line then multithreaded computing was key

when AMD first produced AMD64 then 64bit computing (+backward to 32) was key

I love AMD's products and I'm using an AMD64 right now but just find it amusing how the ideal cpu keeps shifting to align with their latest offerings.

On a more interesting note, what's the deal with these floating pop up graphics? Not even flashblock will kill them. Blue mentioned something a few days ago about trying to get rid of them.

?

FEAR was good, way above average. But I can't help but wonder if there will be weapons in this release which will actually allow you to fire only one shot if you wish.

Yes I know, it may be another 10 years before technology advances to allow for such a feature, but I can dream.

I had not heard that MS was going to "revitalize PC gaming". I can't help but be skeptical. Is this the same Microsoft that "revitalized" Halo for the PC?

MS sells consoles and OS's among other things. An OS still has value without games, a console doesn't. Which one do you think MS will spend their energy on?

There are alot of bad games out there, but that's not to say piracy doesn't hurt the PC game industry, it clearly does and PC games are clearly pirated much more than console games.

If you wan't to download games from usenet or p2p then do it, but don't try to assuage your conscience by saying "oh if only the industry would make good games they would have no problems".

It looks nice, which probably means it will suck.

Anyway, here's the 35mb trailer if you don't want to trudge through their bloated and flash crazy website:

http://www.nugenerationgames.com/DirtTrailer.zip

Having known about this game for 17 minutes now, I'd say it looks like a cross between Max Payne and Oni. If they are striving for a highly controllable movement like Oni, that will be a good thing since Oni is still unequaled in player movement to date.

I predict no multiplayer, but since it's not even addressed in the FAQ that's a safe bet. If you have to ask, the answer is no.

I've always wished for a gaming site which only covers games that are out. Maybe I should start it myself.

www.gamesyoucanactuallybuy.com

While judgement should be reserved until a final release, (if there is such a thing in software) do you really think that when Vista comes out, it will be "lean and mean" so to speak?

Will it value efficiency and security over eye candy? What has been the trend in MS operating systems?

FEAR was worth the money overall, despite some really puzzling things they did such as:

no console. I fail to see how it improves the game to whithold a console from us. And no, typing commands at the chat prompt doesn't count.

With no rifle in the game could you shoot just one shot, (except nailgun) it was all bursts. Even the sniper rifle? First time I've ever seen a sniper rifle that had a three round burst as it's ONLY mode of fire. Jeez maybe an alternate fire button to toggle fire modes?

I have firefox and still see them. They don't come up in a system window that you can x out of, just a floaty graphic.

Really enjoying the ads that hover over and hide the text on your web site Blue. Makes it hard to even come here anymore.

In that case, why not show the child being tortured, then raped, then murdered, then show her dead body being raped again.

Wouldn't that be even creepier?

I didn't mind the voice acting really. They did it with the same kind of humor as "Evil Dead2"/"Army of darkness". And the quality of the acting was good (it could have been much much worse).

Also it's not bad for a change after playing so many FPS where the character never says anything. I think that's just as weird if not weirder than a few comments here and there.

I don't think it was necessary to show children being murdered though, also to have one child murdering another.

I can find games on DVD but it's many times more expensive, fewer discs, more money, makes no sense!
