Got this on sale on GOG a while back and enjoyed it quite a bit. Not as deep as Xcom but didn't overstay its welcome either.

Was very excited when the announcement was first made because, c'mon Vice City with modern controls and updated graphics?! But the more I see about it, the more likely I am to wait for it to go sale, however long that takes.

I've held off this long, I can wait a few more years for all the bug fixes and DLC before I pick it up.

I love this game. The atmosphere, narration, story, classes and mechanics are all brilliant and it definitely took an effort to accept that losing your favorite character is bound to happen at some point. The one thing I did not like was the grindiness inherent to the limited inventory stacks but found that it was pretty easy to edit some text files to change the stack sizes, sell values, etc. which to me, took away my one big frustration with the game without feeling like I was breaking the experience.

Tyranny is one the best RPGs I've ever played. Definitely ranks up there in the top 5. IMO it's much better than Pillars of Eternity for a multitude of reasons. A refreshing take on the fantasy genre, turns the tired old fantasy tropes on it's head, but in a good way. If you've wondered what it would be like to live in a fantasy world where the Evil Overlord WON, then check this game out. If you're pining for a game that gets what makes RPGS truly compelling (player choice), look no further. If there is only one gripe I have with it it's that it is a little bit shorter than what we are used to today, but that makes for a more compelling storyline, especially when player choice is taken into account because depending on what you do, playthroughs can be very, very different. It's such a shame that it didn't sell that well, because the rich worldbuilding and the conclusion of the storyline begs for a sequel.

If you've not played it, get it during the freebie week, play it after you're done with Cyberpunk.

Yeah, even though Tyranny still has PoE's kinda crappy combat, it's still Obsidian's best game. Would be even better with turn based.

I really enjoyed the first one, at least once I modified that inventory files to increase stack sizes and slightly bump up the resell value on most items.

That went a long way toward reducing the grind and I was able to get immersed in the atmosphere and story. I ended up buying all the DLC but have too many other things in the queue to fire it up again.

It's a fantastic game that's well worth playing, but I'd recommend getting the Complete mod. It really fixes everything that was lacking in the base game, from bugs, quality of life improvements, to better graphics and weather effects.

Definitely waiting for the final release with all the DLC and then I'm sure it'll be worth playing like the first one eventually was.

Tyranny is excellent, and if you push a little, you can probably finish it in four days without too much difficulty. Well worth it if you like Baldur's Gate style games.

And yes, you CAN play as truly "Fuck everybody" evil.

Yeah, I quite enjoyed Tyranny. If you are a BG veteran, or even PoE, and want something with some good lore and depth, it's worth playing.

Me too! I actually tried to eBay it a few years ago but it got pulled because I didn't realize it violated their TOS.

I enjoyed Stick of Truth as a fun South Park experience. I'm sure I'll pick this one up on sale at some point after I've played through some of the other stuff in my current queue.

I agree.. I played vanilla for a bit before I abandoned it, but completed the DC and enjoyed it.

It's far from perfect, but had a lot of fun with it. Excited for W3.
