And, there is job security in the game industry. It's called "not working for lame companies."

If you have actually worked in the game industry you would know that simply isn't true.

Perpetual did not shift people over to Star Trek Online because it is not at a sufficient level of development to begin testing, nor is it in desperate need of further staff on the team.

I've been trying to get a job with these people as a QA tester for the last 6 months, and from what I hear from one of my friends in the ill-fated 35 (a QA tester), the game (Gods and Heroes) sucked horribly. I suppose I'll try again when their current hiring freeze is over, but I certianly hope by then Star Trek Online has entered the testing phase.

Most people haven't figured out yet that working in the Game Industry means having absolutely zero job security. You can be fired or laid off for anything at anytime at just about every company. This reason, among others, is why I'm waiting for some kind of Game Developer Union to be formed before I make serious attempts to work as a developer. No job security? No thanks.

Hey Valve, guess what? Mods should be free. So I don't give a damn how many free weekends you offer, nothing is going to make my buy a mod.

Where the fuck is HE WHO MUST NOT BE NAMED getting his money to make this shit? Surely the endless series of shiity Battlecruiser games did not produce enough revenue for HE WHO MUST NOT BE NAMED to continue the anti-development process.

we have nothing further to announce about Gears of War, or any other platforms it might come to, at this time.

Well, maybe you guys should, you know? Because I can pretty much gaurantee several tens of thousands of PC gamers that don't want to get a fucking 360 to play Gears will be very very happy to hear it. The game is Unreal3 tech, developed for PC systems in the first place, so just announce the fucking game and release it, already.

This is the first I'm hearing of all of these horrible probelms with vista. built in rootkits? MS can remotely fuck your system over?

I need details on this stuff, anyone have any decent links that go into specifics?

I am horrified and slightly nauseated about this. How the fuck is RWS even still in operation? They can't possibly have made enough money on their last piece of shit product to have continued all this time and only NOW announce they're developing Postal 3. Vince Desi is a slime ball, I smell mob connections.

It's important to the game industry that nobody buys this piece of shit game. Of course, people are naturally stupid, so they'll buy it anyway.

You know, Bluesnews is the only gaming news site I've ever read that actually reports on Derek Smart's crap games, and I for one would really appreciate it if the website stopped doing that. Less than 0.5% of gamers play these crap products, EVERYONE rightfully hates Derek Smart, and every time one more version of the UC series is reported on it generates a multi-page discussion between people who hate the dickhead, the dickhead himself, and the 1 person that supports the dickhead.

We don't give a crap about these games. Nobody does. And frankly the less I think about Smart and his worthless franchise the better off I am.

oh look, another shitty WW2 budget shooter.

Riley, the industry needs more Sin and HL episodes, not this shit. When was the last time you visted an EB Games or a Gamestop? Next time you go, take a close look at the dwindling PC games section. You'll notice a disturbing trend, and that trend is an enormous supply of these piece of shit budget shooters and a tiny, miniscule supply of quality releases. The PC game industry is slowly dying, I'm very sad to say, and part of it is the fault of companies like Direct Action Games, whom are more interested in pumping out endless crap products for budget prices aimed at ignorant consumers that don't know any better than actually innovating and trying to put something of quality on the Market.

The fact that you seem to enjoy these worthless titles compared to quality releases that are more worthy of your time and money, like HL2 Episode 1, is...disheartening.

Unless this expansion pack includes multiplay and severely improved AI, I won't be paying for it, despite my love of Lionhead.

I'll be getting it either way, you can be sure.

Damn you BioWare, why open a studio in AUSTIN of all places? Here, in San Francisco, is the largest community of game developers in the Country! And you set up shop in god damned Texas?

FUCK Texas! I'll sooner move to Canada and attempt to work at the main office than move out to Texas.

Black and White 2 was a gorgeous game based on solid principles that fell short in AI more than anything else. Its fun for a quick playthrough and is brilliantly presented but unfortunately it's obvious they spent more time making the game look amazing than focusing on making the gameplay fun and memorable.

Mod tools give the community a chance to change that, if anyone actually has the time to devote to a mod for it.

Dear Lionhead, while I know you will never see this comment, it should still be said that The Movies is a game which needs MULTIPLE FUCKING EXPANSION PACKS, not just one, you idiots

this sucks.

Doesn't Atari own the X-COM Franchise? Perhaps this could be an opportunity for Julian Gollop and his Codo Technologies to re-acquire the rights to the best thing he ever did.

Someone email the man. Cuz, like, I dunno how to get a hold of him.

This happened when I worked at Activision as well. Have they said whether most of the people cut were QA or permanent staff? They gave just about the same excuse when we were laid off as well.

None of those guys are veterans. They all worked on mediocre to merely decent games of various genres across the last 5 years or so. Oh, and a games magazine. Whoop-de-doo.

If this was a company founded by John Carmack, Peter Molyneux, Will Wright and Warren Spector than it would get some attention, but who the hell is going to care about this crap? An FPS based on the Painkiller engine, no matter how advanced, will not be innovative at all, because Unreal 3 engine will be out and proliferated by then. And what's the point of producing a horror fps when BioShock will be released probably around the same time (speculation), and on all accounts it will be based on the same principles as System Shock 2, which is the greatest game ever made.

I think I'm too fucking bored today. I should do some work.

While some might think these releases are pointless, this is actually a very good thing for the PC Gaming, as unfortunately our favorite platform for playing games is quickly losing popularity. This sort of thing, with a company the primarily releases console based games suddenly turning towards an interest in PC gaming, could be a very beneficial turn for revitalizing PC gaming. We need more than one company to do this, however.
