I'm surpised and shocked that nobody has mentioned the original TIE FIGHTER by LucasArts. Hand down, 100% certain, the best space-sim, ever. FreeSpace 2 comes up as second, but so far there hasn't been anything that could truly challenge the greatness that is TIE Fighter.


EDIT : Further more, recently I've been having some trouble running the demo, specifically with the audio. Only certain audio files play, theres no music, dialogue, explosions, etc. The onyl sounds I've heard so far out of the fuckin thing are weapon effects.

Anyone know of a fix?

This game looks like shit. Why do all these German game companies recieve funding to make this crap? I realize they want to make some cash from the game industry but I think they need to understand that to make money, they need to develop a GOOD GAME.

Well, the game itself is iffy at best. the Single player aspect was down right awful, (save the cutscenes, which were actually put together quite nicely) however the multiplay is STILL fun to this day. The only problem is its hampered by beta-quality netcode. When a game that isn't bogged to the gills with lag can be found, its still an amazing multiplayer game.

Sorry, you're totally, completely, 100% wrong.

The benefits are :

1. Improved graphics and effects.
2. BETTER FUCKING MULTIPLAY. Remember multiplay, idiot? HALO multiplay on the PC is gonna be SO MUCH MORE FUCKING FUN than it could EVER be on the X-Box.
3. The Mouse/Keyboard interface is the proper control scheme for this game, not a fucking cinder-block that weighs 2lbs by itself.

The point here, is that they're gonna release it anyway, which will open up the code to modders and the rest of the gaming community, who've been waiting for HALO on the PC for 4 fucking years.

So, lets recap. Better Multiplay, Better graphics, better control scheme, Oh and yes, capabilities for modding. I would say that YES, it will be quite desired by most people who know which games are worth a damn.

Why do you think it would be useless and undesired? Because the single player campaign sucked? True, however the multiplay was and is fucking amazing. I'm under the impression that a PC port of Halo would recieve quite a welcome response.

While the Multiplay might not live up to the Tribes-esq design it was originally intended for, the XBox multiplay is FUN, and the PC port will only expand on that.

WAY back, when the original Dev team was working on T1 and T2, it was speculated that Tribes 3 might be some kind of combined game which used the HERCS from the Starsiege Line of games and the powered armor from the Tribes series. So, there would be people running around in mechs, and ALSO, there would be people running around in Armor at the same time. This idea still sounds fucking amazing, and I would love to see it put to action, however I fear that when those fucking Sierra BASTARDS fired the entire DevTeam a week after they completed Tribes2, that this great notion for a game died with the termination of the team. This new team, whom I herby dub "The Replacements," doubtfully have the necessary experience to truely produce a great Tribes sequel.

I guess we'll have to wait for the offical press release before we can really judge this new team.

Ok well, after download and install, I recieve some crap about having to connect to the internet, even though I'm on a t1 line..and then it just gives me some "First Registration" crap, talking about helping me to recieve an "ez pad" interface.

The whole point of this fuckin thing was to show off the capabilities of the geforceFX chipset, and unfortunatly you really need to wait about 30 or 40 minutes before it actually gets into the tech demos. SO for those that are impatient, skip ahead in the video to around 42 minutes to see the "Toy" Tech Demo, and then shortly thereafter the fucking AMAZING "Dawn" demo. WOW.

I REALLY hope they release the Dawn demo for public viewing, cuz its just fucking insanely great stuff.
